LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ON 2007-UP Dodge/Chrysler vehicles

Thats nuts.  Its a great way to sell some cars I guess.  Lets people know they think their products are built to last!  Limited warranty is non transferable tho.  Kinda lame.

or they just know doing so will make them sell cars faster.  people will want something that they can rely on for a long time.

I definately think its a good way to sell cars, the idea is mostly superficial however because most people switch out of cars after a few years.

P.s I work for a Chrysler Jeep dealership and there isn't anything really fishy about it. The lifetime warranty is restricted to the powertrain, so again most people won't really need it often.

I work at a VW dealer and the first few years of this century they offered a 10y/100k powertrain for origional owners. We have replaced engines and trannys under this warranty. You never know what mood the people building the engine was in the day they built a particular engine. Also... I just bought a Cruiser for my wife solely because of the warranty. She liked it and several competitor smallish cars, but the warranty was the decision maker for us.

if I recall right, there are strict guidlines such as having the car always serviced at their dealerships, no mods, etc.

The law states that dealerships can not require services to be done there unless they are free of charge. You only need to save the receipts as proof of services done. And as for mods, the dealer has to PROVE the mod caused whatever broke to break.
