Subaru is celebrating 20 years of hi-po Scoobies with a 300-unit run of WRX STi Anniversary Edition models. The main differences of importance to enthusiasts are in the suspension, where new coilover damper units stiffen up the handling and carry 18-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment. Flat black details and special badging round out the exterior differences, while the interior gets cosmetic touches like red seat stitching, a red stop/start button and even more badging, all for the equivalent of about $42k US. A little flash, no more dash. Happy anniversary. galleryPost('wrxstianniversary', 12, 'Subaru Celebrates With Flat Black and Badging'); [ Carscoop ]

As big fans of the Alfa Romeo Alfetta , this New York Times profile of one abandoned Alfa in Brooklyn has touched us. Owned by a Romanian immigrant who passed away, the worn 1975 Alfetta should have been towed away after a few parking tickets because alternate side of the street parking in NYC is strictly enforced. Miraculously, an angel of Italian metal let the owner expire just days before those rules were temporarily suspended, allowing the car to live on just a bit longer. The rules were reinstated and parking tickets have accrued on the lone Alfa but, for reasons only explainable by priests or mystics (or negligent city services), the rusted Alfetta still lives on Plaza Street West. With auto show season officially, mercilessly, thankfully over, the Jalopnik Fantasy Garage stands to be full in just six weeks. A short time by any standard, but especially so when distilling over a hundred years of automotive excellence into just 50 vehicles. Two weeks ago saw the induction of the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham , a car so finely crafted only a communist would disapprove. In this week's edition, we switch gears entirely. Compact, lightweight automobile construction, responsive suspension, spicy engine and a slick manual transmission. It's a simple formula which, if done properly, not only results in a car with character, but one which transcends the bottom-of-the-barrel genre and becomes something of legend, something which can ascend to the level of fantasy. This week, we examine the hot hatch. Here's the deal, it's going to be a knock down, drag out fight with no elimination rounds, no brackets, no BS -- a winner takes all match up between four of the most...

Remember the Christopher Walken skit on Saturday night live where the inveterate creepy guy continues asking Will Ferrell for more cowbell? Well the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition needs more carbon fiber. The rebodied CCX is positively rotten with the stuff and the twin turbocharged, E85 sipping 1018 HP heart makes us almost feel like this outshines the Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermes which sits just down the row. This car speaks to our inner 17-year-old like a like a prom queen on a bender. galleryPost('koeniggseggedition', 15, 'Koeniggsegg CCXR Edition'); The Koenigsegg CCXR Edition is a duel fuel car, running on plain old dino juice the 4.8L twin turbo V8 cranks out 888 BHP. Fill 'er up with E85 ethanol and the car snorts out that mind bending 1085 BHP and will crush your internal organs on its way to sixty in less than 2.9 seconds, 125 MPH (or 200 KPH) doesn't take much longer at 8.9 ticks. Er... yeah, numbers like that don't even make sense to us but we like that...

For those who think the base model Phantom is only for poor people and dermatologists, Rolls Royce is issuing a few Tungsten Edition Phantoms to each of the continents. The name comes from the special Xiralic Darket Tungsten paint treatment the car gets, which would have looked great on our old 300D. What will really standout at the charity galas and secret gay trysts with Yendrick the Tennis Pro is the brushed aluminum hood from the 101 EX concept.galleryPost('tungstenphantom', 4, 'Rolls Royce Phantom Tungsten Edition'); On the inside, Rolls Royce spares nothing, throwing in Smoke Grey seats with contrasting Navy Blue hide, straight-grained East Indian Rosewood veneer on the dash with micro engraved metal and the usual assortment of Rolls goodies. The piece d'resistance is the starlight headliner, which uses fiber-optics to create the illusion of a starry night, marking the first time that H2 limo tech has ended up in Royce. [ Sybarites ]
