The new Nissan GT-R is just too hard to modify for performance, what with the tricky, unhackable computer system and the already Porsche-confounding performance. That's why Japanese tuners Branew brought their Branew GT-R to SEMA with only appearance upgrades. The car gets a revised front clip, side skirts, massive 23 inch wheels, a triple-tipped exhaust outlet, functional spoiler and rear splitter mounted on a very C5 Corvette-inspired tail end. The Branew GT-R will probably suffer from the classic tuner problem of being slower with all the extra pretty stuff on it — a characteristic most tuner car enthusiasts are able to ignore. galleryPost('branewgtr', 6, 'The Brand New Branew Nissan GT-R'); galleryPost('branewgtrpress', 6, 'Branew GT-R Press Shots');

In Quentin Tarantino’s "Death Proof", Kurt Russells’s character modifies his car to protect its driver in even the most severe of accidents, thus rendering the machine impervious to death. Bespoke Ventures has done exactly the opposite, modifying their Nissan GT-R in such a way that severe back injury is virtually guaranteed by any front-end collision. Click through to find out why. galleryPost('bulletproffgtrr', 6, 'Bulletproof GT-RR'); Check out the way the harnesses are mounted. By attaching the shoulder belts to a point lower than the shoulders, the driver and passenger’s spines will be compressed in the event of the car running into something. This will crush the vertebrae and could even lead to paralysis in extreme cases. Other modifications include tastelessly applied decals, plus the usual assortment of big wings, big wheels, lowered suspension and fancy brakes. We’re not sure what’s going on inside the GT-RR’s engine bay, but judging by Bespoke Venture...

This matte gold Nissan GT-R was spotted in Dubai, where it was possibly turning its custom-painted nose up at the relatively gaudy all-chrome McLaren SLR . This could be a sign that the matte black trend , as exemplified by the matte black F430 and matte black Veyron , is being replaced by a new matte color. If less is more, and matte black is less, matte gold is slightly more than less. galleryPost('mattgtrgold', 3, 'Matte Gold Is The New Matte Black'); [Head Over To Global Motors For More Photos]

As proof the body kit isn't what's responsible for the " most hideous Nissan GT-R ever " from a few weeks ago, Zele has released pictures of their upcoming SEMA special carbon fiber GT-R aero kit, complete with brilliant orange paint. All the Zele pieces are individually available to add as much or as little of the upcoming Spec V look as you like, or you can get the whole package including orange paint, Rays forged alloys and an upgraded ECU sans-JDM speed limiter. Pricing for individual pieces runs from about $500 up to $1,100, while pricing for the entire upgrade package appears to still be in the works. galleryPost('zelecfgtr', 9, 'It IS Possible To Tastefully Mod The Nissan GT-R'); [ Motor Authority ]

The Nissan GT-R, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Studebaker hot rod, disfigured Bentley Continental GT, and lifted Toyota Tundra you see here are the five cars Toyo Tires will be bringing to the upcoming 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. But what's the one thing they all have in common—besides wearing Toyo rubber? They're all ridiculous caricatures! Well, the 1931 Studebaker Model 54 hot rod might not be so bad, but if the rendering pictured is accurate, its non-existent ride height means it's nothing but a trailer queen. The most subtly tuned of the rest is the Nissan GT-R, which sports some carbon-fiber body parts, an Amuse titanium exhaust and Endless six-piston brakes. The rest of the bunch are a bit more radical. galleryPost('ToyoSEMA', 3, 'Make It Stop'); The green Mitsubish Lancer Evo X is boasting 650 HP. The Bentley Continental GT (yes that's what's hiding under that awful body kit) brags of 800 HP. The Tundra? Well it's a huge lifted truck with...

We have SickWrathTerror over at the Motive Mag Forums to thank for sharing this photo of one Infiniti G35 owner apparently unaware that the 2009 GT-R was going to be available in the states. [ Motive Forums ]

You knew it was bound to happen. We've already seen the first examples of modifications on the 2009 Nissan GT-R . But now comes something even more — perverse . That's right friends, here come the body kits. Tuning shop Garage Defend has brought their twin goals of increased down force and debatably increased style to Nissan's new Godzilla. Their modifications include front end canards, a new spoiler at the back, an inch and a half drop, new seats and a new muffler system. We're expecting this will be among the tamest of modified GT-Rs until such time as they start hitting our nation's West Coast. Then, whoa nelly, you better grab the women and children and run for shelter from the tuning madness. galleryPost('gdgtr', 9, 'Garage Defend Prepped Nissan GT-R'); [ NihonCar ]

newVideoPlayer("nissan_gtr_orange.flv", 463, 387,""); We remember being in the exact spot where this video was taken. It's right next to the Asahi TV building and those lit trees were just being decorated at the time. Of course, we were there back in October during our coverage of the Tokyo Auto Show and we were being propositioned in a certain way, but we were totally right there, small world huh. Anyway, the driver of the 2008 Nissan GT-R is showing off his fancy shade of orange and then dusts the camera with impressive vigor. Looks like he's got some body kit bits and fancy wheels too. It's nice to see one that isn't in silver or black (or hot pink ), even if it is Halloween themed..
