The 2009 Roush P-51B Mustang, an aviation-themed screamer of a pony, is the newest custom to emerge from the secretive skunkworks of Jack Roush's Detroit shop. Only 51 of these bad lads will be tearing up the streets with their 510 HP and matching torque thanks to a bounty of tasty engine goods and a BFS (Big Fookin' Supercharger). The whole lot has been tweaked and tugged, including sinister black chrome wheels, a Juggernaut-approved braking system and a slathering of Olive Drab accents. More about the gritty technical specs below. galleryPost('p51mustang3', 3, '2009 ROUSH P-51B'); The powerplant of this titan only visually resembles the stock three-valve found in the Mustang GT. This mill holds a completely forged rotating assembly, including new pistons, H-beam connecting rods and crankshaft. A new clutch and an ECM specifically tailored to this combination keeps everything in control and transmitting torque to the pavement. Six-piston brakes bring the whole thing...

In addition to the Raptor pickup , Ford will be unveiling its latest purpose-built drag racer, the 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet. The Cobra Jet, also known as the FR500CJ, is an attempt by the Dearborn, MI-based automaker to expand its offerings of racing pony cars. The Cobra Jet gets a beefed up 5.4-liter V8 with a cold air intake, A/C delete, 9-inch rear end, a six speed manual or three speed auto, a roll hoop and a specialized suspension. While no horsepower figure is given yet, Ford is calling it a car any drag racer can get in and immediately be able to compete with ten second cars. Not too bad for a factory racer, sounds like it'll do the Cobra Jet name justice. Details in the press release below. galleryPost('cobrajetsema', 6, 'Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Ready To Run Quarters'); COBRA JET THE LATEST ADDITION TO THE MUSTANG FR500 SERIES OF RACE CARS FROM FORD RACING DEARBORN, Mich, Nov. 4, 2008 – With the addition of the 2008 Cobra Jet Mustang, Ford Racing will have once...

For folks who want a high-po old-school ride with a minimum of effort, Roush will now sell you one of their crate engines matched to an aftermarket performance transmission — and they'll do all the fine-tuning and dial in for you. You'll need to be a Blue Oval fan in order to take advantage of the aptly-named "Ford in a Ford" program, but we're pretty sure this is exactly what your old Mustang needs. Or at least one of us does . Look for the first application, a 511SRFE engine in a 1963 Galaxie, to debut at the Goodguys PPG Nats in Columbus, OH this weekend. Full release after the jump. ROUSH(R) NOW OFFERING COMPLETE CRATE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PACKAGES FOR SEAMLESS INSTALLATION LIVONIA, Mich. (July 7, 2008) - Street rod enthusiasts and car builders have traditionally had their share of issues mating the transmission to the engine in a project car; either one or the other would install smoothly, but rarely both would work in tandem without a lot of additional...

When Gone in Sixty Seconds came out in 2000, the Mustang which held the lead role as " Eleanor " became an overnight sensation. You couldn't throw dead blow hammer without hearing someone compare a car to Eleanor. The brutish fastback was just the right mix of vintage and modern. In that vein, the Obsidian SG-1 is a car as modern as anything on the road, but maintaining a throwback look. Originally a puke green '67 fastback, the SG-1 (which does not travel through wormholes to faraway planets) is now a study in excess. galleryPost('obsidian', 6, 'Obsidian SG1, Starring Richard Dean Anderson'); We're not too sure about everything that goes around the engine and drive train, but nobody is going to argue with the guns this car is packing. A stroked SVO 351W V8 good for 392 cubic inches, two, count 'em, two Rotrex superchargers feeding two air-to-air intercoolers and firing up for over 830 HP and 770 lb.ft. of torque. That monster drives a Tremec 5...
