newVideoPlayer("/85_Mitsubishis_476.flv", 506, 423,""); Remember the Mitsubishi Cordia? The Tredia? Where are all those Cordia Turbos today? Of all the nameplates shown in this ad, only the Galant is still around 22 years later… but that spirit of the 80s will live on forever in the Mitsubishi theme song!

newVideoPlayer("/86_Renault_21_UK_494.flv", 506, 423,""); Car-shopping mid-80s Brits who wanted to show the world that they weren't going to let The Man grind them down- just like Number Six showed The Man!- could head right down to their local Renault dealership after watching this ad, because the Renault 21 (sold here in the States as the much-less-than-successful Renault Medallion ) gets away!

newVideoPlayer("/86_CRX_Si_476.flv", 506, 423,""); The mid-80s Kleine GTI was lots of fun, but those willing to sacrifice the back seat and go Japanese instead of German could get an extra 18 horses in a lighter chassis. We're talking about the first-gen CRX Si, and this ad shows that it could circumnavigate the globe in a mere five seconds.

newVideoPlayer("86_Taurus_476.flv", 506, 423,""); Now there is a personal car that has exactly exactly what we've been looking for... and what a relief! Folks in the mid-80s were tired of im personal cars- or at least ones with sharp angles- and so the "melted-bar-of-soap" styling of the first Taurus came to be the standard for just about everything to come out of Detroit for the next decade or two. Taur us!

newVideoPlayer("86_Mustang_476.flv", 463, 387,""); Since we've been seeing so many 80s car ads lately , might as well keep the string going with this more-eighties-than-Max-Headroom ad for the 1986 Ford Mustang. Do you have Mustang Attitude? Sure, 7.9% financing ain't so hot, but an '86 Mustang convertible with 5.0 and 5-speed is still a pretty decent car today (and 500 pounds lighter than the current Galaxie-size Dearborn pony).

This ad for the '86 Camaro may be a contender for Most 80s Car Advertisement Ever, though of course GM raised that bar pretty high with their other F-body ads of the era. Hair Product! Pastel colors! Chlamydia! 305 small-blocks!

newVideoPlayer("sexy_mercury_gawker.flv", 475, 376); One thing about Rod Stewart allowing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" to be used in a Mercury ad- it's not a sellout. That's because Rod Stewart was born sold out! Just listening to that herpes-and-Ludes anthem...
