Just a reminder boys and girls — you only have until 12:01 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 to get your best submissions in to us in the GM-Chrysler Merger Mashup p-chop contest . Slap 'em into either the comments on the original post or e-mail us at autoinsider@jalopnik.com for the “GM-Chrysler Merger Mashup Photoshop Contest”. Now, get out there and Photoshop us some crazy Monte Chargers and Corvipers or whatever for your chance to win the XBOX 360 game and a copy of the 10th season of Top Gear — and remember, as always, that standard contest rules apply. Oh, and that entry above? We're calling that the 300Camino ! Some say he has a tattoo of a Saleen S7 on his rear end. Others tell us he was born with a penchant for oil rather than his mum's milk. All we know is he's called the Auto Insider and he's always ready to provide the scoop from the other side of Eight Mile.

All this talk about a GM-Chrysler merger has caused us to think; What if, instead of loan guarantees from the feds back in 1979, Chrysler had approached GM and asked them to be their angel of deliverance. What would an alternate universe be like if GM and Chrysler were already merged? Would the automotive landscape be the same? Or would it thrive with Plymiac Azbrings and Dodgy Challamaros? Maybe a Town & Camino or two? We don't know — but after the GEM mashup last month and the SLR Guy back in June — we know your creativity knows no bounds. So grab your digital #2 pencils and fire up Photoshop because we’re challenging YOU to create this alternate universe. Give us your best creations because we’re giving away a copy of Baja: Edge of Control for XBOX 360 and the 10th season of Top Gear from iTunes to the most creative, awe-inspiring General Mopar creation out there. And no, we don't mean creating your own lineup — we've already done that . Let's give...

Mazda has no known intentions to make a Mazda6 Coupe, but that didn't stop a forum fan-boy over at CarSpyShots named Baji192 from rendering his own two-door interpretation of the 2009 Mazda6 . We've seen a mysterious drawing before that looked a bit more professional than this P-chop job but we're still wondering who would actually buy a coupe version, especially if it looked pretty much the same as the sedan. Besides, you'd think the market would already be saturated, what with the Toyota Camry Coupe Solara and Honda Accord Coupe . Of course, one could just say that's a market saturated with opportunity. Hit the jump for a look from the side. [via CarSpyShots ]

The new Volkswagen Scirocco may just be hitting the roads, but somehow tuner ABT Sportsline has already released their version of the swoopy hatch. Oh wait, no they haven't, these are just renderings. Yes, as has become common practice for tuners anxious to get a jump on the competition, ABT has resorted to releasing Photoshop-enhanced pictures of a standard Scirocco to display the aftermarket upgrade package they allegedly have. The car claims to bump up the power of the 2.0-liter engine to 240 HP, to be sent to your choice of gaudy, oversized rims. Of course, we can't get the Scirocco in America anyways, so we'd rather fantasize about the Scirocco GT24 Nürburgring endurance racer. Press release after the jump. galleryPost('abtscirocco', 2, 'ABT Sportsline Scirocco Chop'); "The very first Scirocco was the absolute star amongst compact sport coupes”, reminisces Hans-Juergen Abt. The manager of the renowned car tuner is just as fascinated with the great-grandson...

The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser. Although we've already seen the 2010 Chevy Camaro revealed in three colors, the crazy kids over at CarScoop have decided the new Chevy Camaro RS needs to be seen in more than just plain-Jane colors like red, yellow and silver. They've Photoshopped a veritable Skittles-like rainbow of colorgasmic flavors for the new Chevy Camaro . Check out the front ends over here, then head on over to CarScoop to check out the hot rear action. Although we''re partial to pink on the new mullet-mobile, what's your favorite flavor? Better question — anyone want to take a few moments in P-shop themselves to mock up what colors and decals you'd drop atop Chevy's new muscle car? We'll do a post showing off the best tomorrow afternoon before the official unveiling at 4:00 PM EST. galleryPost('NewChevyCamaroColor', 15, 'Ready Or Not — Here It Comes'); [via CarScoop ]

This image popped up over the weekend being touted as a prototype BMW M1 snapped during a candid moment in a Spanish hanger. As we all know, major automakers regularly keep priceless, top secret, never before seen but completely finished supercars stored in regional airports, without camo on them. Well, there was that one time . But this time something seemed amiss. As this would be a fantastical development, especially in the wake of the surprise BMW M1 Homage reveal at Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este, we took a second look at it. Something seemed...just a bit off. Those headlights look like they're from something else, and the hood bulge and nose are just too much a BMW M3, which has a front engine necessitating a hood bulge, where this does not. We call shenanigans. Really impressive shenanigans, and way more staggeringly awesome than the actual M1 Homage, but shenanigans no less. What do you say? Scrutinize a higher resolution version HERE . Gawker Media polls require...

We tried, we really did. We just couldn't cut the entries from the Scion Hako Redesign Contest down enough to make this voting process even mildly manageable. We apologize if your entry got left on the cutting room floor, but we were inundated with chops that ran the scale from amazing to amazingly awesomely bad. What we're left with is a set of forty of the best, worst, and most amusing redesigns for the fug-nasty Scion Hako. Since there are so many entries, we're going to let you narrow things down a bit. To keep things fair we stripped the names off and we're not going to name names on this round, just so some of you more popular hooligans don't win by sheer wit. Browse through the gallery and pick out your favorite, make a note of the number above the image and vote away. We'll take the top 5 vote-getters and have a vote-off tomorrow afternoon then send the winner some rad hats. galleryPost('hakoredesign', 12, 'Massive Scion Hako Redesign Vote Off'...

To say the Scion Hako Concept went over poorly with the Jalopnik staff would be something of an understatement. Every time we checked the front page we'd recoil in horror as the Hako scrolled past on the screen. It became the generic stake by which other cars were measured. "At least it's not the Hako" was heard more than once. Now, considering the depth of photochopping skill we see from Chrysler here on a daily basis, we're betting you guys can do better than the awkward and boxy "American vintage style" Scion touted at the New York Auto Show . galleryPost('conHakoCoupe', 6, 'AAAH The Goggles They Do Nothing'); Instead of being only a contest for Photoshop whiz kids, for this one, we'll be giving bonus points to those who use the crudest software drawing package. If you send us a design using ASCII, you've got a better chance at winning than the guy using MSPaint who has a leg up on the guy using Photoshop. This is not to say the...

Eagle-eyed reader Eywolf noticed something peculiar yesterday morning when we ran the new 2009 Dodge Challenger images and press release. After our fearless leader was lambasted by Chrysler PR for what seemed like hours over our suggestion the press images for the Chicago Auto Show unveil of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 had been massaged to enhance reality, it seems there may be further p-chopping on the latest batch of images in an apparent attempt to deceive the muscle-loving public into believing Chrysler has more than one color available for the Challenger save money . We took the time to create an animated gif of two of the images in question -- one, a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 from Chicago (in orange). The other, a purported image of the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 (in white)... galleryPost('challengerchop3', 2, 'Were These Challenger Photos Manipulated?'); We thought this time we'd reserve commentary on whether or not it's really been digitally enhanced...
