Not all the cars at next month's 24 Hours Of LeMons Arse Freeze-A-Palooza are as gloriously twisted as the CBR900RR-powered Geo Metro or Ghettocharged Frankenmiata , but even a run-of-the-mill Fox Mustang can show up with a great theme . That's exactly what's going on with Team Huey Newis And The Lose , who have painted their '85 Mustang in a painfully 80s pink-and-gray combo and are now assembling team uniforms comprised entirely of Members Only gear. Yes, these guys have a rich cultural vein to mine with their schtick, and you can read their mission statement (and see all the photos) by merely making the jump. galleryPost('LTH08HueyNewisIntro', 6, 'Huey Lewis And The Lose Prepare For Thunderhill Racing Action'); Here is the letter written by the esteemed wordsmith Warren G. Taylor (Ok, his middle initial isn't G. but it should be.) that got us accepted into the race. yes, its both silly and true. To whom it may concern, I have been enlisted, through...

The 2008 LA Auto Show starting tonight will see the debut of the new 2010 Ford Mustang we revealed first in full for you last night — nearly 44 years after the original 1964 model made its debut on the show circuit. The Mustang's not only the original pony car, it's the only one to continuously sell for all 44 of those years. With such an established history, and with the new Challenger and Camaro nipping at its tail, we were skeptical of a redesign we were told was more an "evolution" rather than "revolution." We'd also been told not to expect any seriously new powertrain options for the 2010 model year. Despite those nagging concerns, what we've found may surprise even us. Ford released two concepts at the Watkins Glen Racetrack - the first, on October 7th, 1962 was dubbed the Mustang I Prototype and a year later on October 9th, 1963, the Mustang II Prototype. These prototypes planted the seed for Lee Iacocca to push forward the production plan...

newVideoPlayer("/2010-Mustang-Vert.flv", 506, 423,""); Up on the internet; It's bird, it's a plane, it's total 2010 Ford Mustang day! In marketing parlance, we believe this is called a media blitz, and the latest component following the first images and official details and the video of the Mustang GT hard top is this video of the Mustang GT Convertible. Chop the GT badge off and replace the snorting V8 with a non- Ecoboost V6 and you'll be seeing this car driven ad nauseum by cheerleader types in the not too distant future. This GT version of course just lets the tire smoke blow gently through your hair. Demonstration foolishly not provided in video. galleryPost('2010FordMustangGTBlue', 12, 'Mustang GT - Blue'); galleryPost('LA082010MustangGTRed', 12, 'Mustang And Mustang GT - Red'); galleryPost('LA08MustangGTInt', 9, 'Mustang GT - Interior'); [ Youtube.de ]

newVideoPlayer("/2010-Mustang-GT.flv", 494, 371,""); After last night's reveal of the reskinned and retuned 2010 Ford Mustang , it sure didn't take long for video of the car in motion to hit the web but here she be, in her pony-car glory. The new 'Stang does little to show off its 315 HP other than provide proof that it can attain forward motion. We're sorely disappointed the first video provided no roiling clouds of tire smoke played to a chainsaw-heavy Jackyl soundtrack, but you can't have everything. We'll be seeing the live unveil soon enough at the LA Auto Show, but feel free to enjoy the huge galleries below. galleryPost('2010FordMustangGTBlue', 12, 'Mustang GT - Blue'); galleryPost('LA082010MustangGTRed', 12, 'Mustang And Mustang GT - Red'); galleryPost('LA08MustangGTInt', 9, 'Mustang GT - Interior'); [ Youtube.de ]

And unlike some sites, we're not afraid to let loose with everything early when a little bit's leaked out — so, hit the jump to be the very first to find out exactly what's up with the new pony car from Ford. galleryPost('2010FordMustangGTBlue', 12, 'Mustang GT - Blue'); galleryPost('LA082010MustangGTRed', 12, 'Mustang And Mustang GT - Red'); galleryPost('LA08MustangGTInt', 9, 'Mustang GT - Interior'); Ford drew upon a myriad of cues from successful designs past to conjure up the all-new Pony car's cohesive style. Bad news for fans of drop top muscle cars: according to multiple sources, the Dodge Challenger Convertible has been canceled and the Chevy Camaro Convertible delayed for at least a year. Luckily Ford will be showing a 2010 Ford Mustang Convertible at next week’s LA Auto Show , with sales scheduled to start in Spring ’09. galleryPost('2011CamaroVertSpy', 3, 'Camaro Convertible'); galleryPost('teaser2010stang', 3, '2010 Ford Mustang Convertible'); galleryPost('semachallengerconvert', 3, 'SEMA Challenger Convertible'); Chrysler and GM’s decisions to respectively kill and delay the ultimate poser’s cars, convertible muscle cars were made for the same reason: money. The unibody Challenger is, unbelievably, not originally engineered to lose its top. So engineering a model capable of retaining its rigidity is, due to the financiapocalypse , now considered wayyy to expensive. Speaking to Motor Trend , a company insider described the Challenger convertible...

Dear god, it's yet another teaser shot of the 2010 Ford Mustang GT . This one shows off the sensuous duck-tail curves of the new rear end of Ford's pony car. Along with the strip tease, Ford's telling us "The decklid spoiler is redesigned into a duck-tail form, with several options, including one that incorporates a rear-view camera, are available." Feel free to ignore the poor grammar, Ford accidentally forgot they hocked the grammar check software for MS Word. Full comments below the jump. Coming or going, the 2010 Mustang casts an evocative, dramatic presence on the road. The enhanced muscular look of the 2010 Mustang carries through to the rear of the car. “It’s a huge improvement,” said Chief Designer Douglas Gaffka. Design Manager George Saridakis and his team created a more-compact, wraparound look and enhanced Mustang’s width and stance through a new two-piece rear fascia. Reinforcing the Mustang’s heritage are the tri-bar tail lamps. The three individual red...

The 2009 Roush P-51B Mustang, an aviation-themed screamer of a pony, is the newest custom to emerge from the secretive skunkworks of Jack Roush's Detroit shop. Only 51 of these bad lads will be tearing up the streets with their 510 HP and matching torque thanks to a bounty of tasty engine goods and a BFS (Big Fookin' Supercharger). The whole lot has been tweaked and tugged, including sinister black chrome wheels, a Juggernaut-approved braking system and a slathering of Olive Drab accents. More about the gritty technical specs below. galleryPost('p51mustang3', 3, '2009 ROUSH P-51B'); The powerplant of this titan only visually resembles the stock three-valve found in the Mustang GT. This mill holds a completely forged rotating assembly, including new pistons, H-beam connecting rods and crankshaft. A new clutch and an ECM specifically tailored to this combination keeps everything in control and transmitting torque to the pavement. Six-piston brakes bring the whole thing...

Army Specialist Kory Chesher of the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq will be receiving a 2010 Ford Mustang and a trip to the LA Auto Show for his story of a lifelong love of the Mustang that, sadly, never included owning a Mustang. When Ford launched its 96-day endless countdown they announced the new Mustang would be given to the person with the best Mustang Story . Chesher had been saving his money in order to buy a Mustang when he returned, meaning he can pour that dough into fixing up the car. The story below the jump. Chesher’s 242-word essay, “A Life Obsession" It started when I was about 6 years old. I was in the truck with my father and we were at a stoplight. Across the road at the other light was this “car.” It drew my attention away from everything else in the world. I asked my dad what it was and he simply said, “Oh, that’s a Mustang.” I remember it like it was yesterday. I now know that it was a 1968 black Fastback. That was almost 20 years ago. Twenty years of love, addiction...

In addition to the Raptor pickup , Ford will be unveiling its latest purpose-built drag racer, the 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet. The Cobra Jet, also known as the FR500CJ, is an attempt by the Dearborn, MI-based automaker to expand its offerings of racing pony cars. The Cobra Jet gets a beefed up 5.4-liter V8 with a cold air intake, A/C delete, 9-inch rear end, a six speed manual or three speed auto, a roll hoop and a specialized suspension. While no horsepower figure is given yet, Ford is calling it a car any drag racer can get in and immediately be able to compete with ten second cars. Not too bad for a factory racer, sounds like it'll do the Cobra Jet name justice. Details in the press release below. galleryPost('cobrajetsema', 6, 'Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Ready To Run Quarters'); COBRA JET THE LATEST ADDITION TO THE MUSTANG FR500 SERIES OF RACE CARS FROM FORD RACING DEARBORN, Mich, Nov. 4, 2008 – With the addition of the 2008 Cobra Jet Mustang, Ford Racing will have once...

Being unable to wait much longer for, or endure more teasers of, the 2010 Ford Mustang we're going to believe that these photos are actually the Hot Wheels version of the 2010 Mustang that is set to debut at the LA Auto Show this month. As wild as the thought is, we have a few reasons to believe that this car posted on eBay is actually a real version of the new Mustang and not a clever person with a pen, some paint and a good imagination. galleryPost('10stanghotwheel', 5, 'Is This The 2010 Mustang Hot Wheels Car?'); galleryPost('2010MustangKORS', 2, 'What We Think It Will Look Like'); First, the vehicle looks fairly similar to our own 2010 Mustang renderings , including the angles of the taillights and the shape of the grille and headlights. Also, it says "2010 Ford Mustang" at the bottom of the vehicle. This is something someone could fake, but at the very least they did a good job. Second, the timing is right. Assuming that they want to have...

What are we up to now? Ten? Twenty teasers for the 2010 Ford Mustang ? We've lost count and, frankly, lost interest in playing this game. The latest teaser seen above came out Thursday morning, and we're just now forcing ourselves to post it. It shows off the center console and shifter — a lot like the teaser that came two weeks ago also showing the shifter . We'll be glad when the car is uncovered at the LA Auto Show so the constant stream of snippets comes to an end. galleryPost('teaser2010stang', 9, 'Ford Mustang Teasers, So Very Many Ford Mustang Teasers');

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition , where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot . Today we've got some really puzzling cars found down on the Gotland, Sweden street by RobHolcombe . Yes, the same guy who shot the legendary Turk & Stanyon cars in San Francisco had his camera while on a Baltic visit… and the mind reels when trying to imagine what Swedes make of the most Hummer-parody Hummer we've ever seen. Jump away to see all the photos and read Rob's description. galleryPost('DOTSBESwedishHummer', 6, 'American Pride Befuddles Scandinavians'); As promised a while back! Some shots of some Detroit steel as found on the streets of Gotland, Sweden....a great big island in the middle of the Baltic. Maybe there's something here you wanna post...maybe not. Here's the shots of a god awful Hummer H2. Who in their right mind pays to gas that thing up at $10 + / gallon? I can't even imagine...

Close the drapes and be certain young children are not in the room, for this is horror on an entirely inconceivable scale. The utter malice exhibited through this monstrosity should be punishable. We believe this was once a Fox-body Mustang; what it is now is a horrifying interpretation of a Lamborghini Countach (kind of), but the Craigslist seller doesn't deign to reveal anything else about the car, assuming the styling will stand on its own — and command $29,900 . There is no question whether this is a Nice Price or Crack Pipe ; This is "ten years strung out, sleeping in the garbage bins behind a Korean restaurant" level Crack Pipe. ( Thanks for the brain-maiming tip Dylan ) [ Craigslist , Here if it disappears]
