It's one thing to spot a 90s Ford Escort with a truck bed and huge fins, but what a joy to see that the owner has actually named his creation using the correct -chero suffix. We've seen too many homemade Ford cartrucks with GM-centric names, so we're just happy this one isn't emblazoned with a huge "ESCORTAMINO" graphic. We're also happy that Crazygutgut had his camera at the ready when he spotted this fine machine in San Francisco's Sunset District. Make the jump to see the whole gallery and read Crazygutgut's description. galleryPost('Escachero', 3, 'Ford Escachero Roams The Streets Of San Francisco'); Hey Jalops User Crazygutgut here. I was driving down 19th Ave (in San Francisco) on Saturday July 5th when I spotted the "Escachero." I wonder if the guy is a fan, cause he spraypainted Escachero on the doors. Most of the car is a 90ish Ford escort. the back of the cab seems to be made from a 60's Chevy or Ford pickup....

We've been receiving DOTS Bonus Edition photos at a rate faster than we can post them at the current pace, so today we're going to have a special Bonus DOTS-O-Rama Sunday, with a series of vehicles captured in the wild by our readers. Today's theme will be Down On The California Street, and the first machine is this Holden ute that Froggmann found in Anaheim. How many California cities can you name that started out as a German utopian colony , had an all-KKK city government , and then became the happiest place on earth ? Just one! Make the jump to see all the photos and read Froggmann's description. galleryPost('DOTSBEAnaheimUte', 9, 'Holdenamino Down On The Anaheim Street'); Last week while driving through my old neighborhood in Anaheim, CA, I saw this parked over in an industrial parking lot. Yes I know it's cheating but given the expiration date of the plate this car has not moved in a while (Expired in 94). It looks factory but I have been having...

Once again, Denver's own Kitt has found an interesting vehicle parked on the streets of her city, and had camera in hand to capture it for use. Now, this might actually be a "big-block" El Camino (with a 267 or 305 or even a six-banger) under the hood, but then you figure there's no point in doing an emblem upgrade on a total beater, right? For that matter, it might not even be a '67, despite the grille, what with the parts swapping that takes place with these cartrucks; note the Malibu emblem on the glovebox lid. No matter, because on Maximum El Camino Day we love all truckcars, not just the ones that can withstand the scrutiny of uptight car judges! Be sure to make the jump and catch the rest of the photos in Part 2. galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverElCoTop', 6, '1967 Chevy El Camino Down On The Denver Street Part 1'); galleryPost('DOTSBEDenverElCoJump', 17, '1967 Chevy El Camino Down On The Denver Street Part 2');

Thanks to Schweppes , the Windsor-based commenter who shot the Forward Control Land Rover for us a while back, we now get to see this solid-looking Volvo 240 with pickup bed. Since Ford owns Volvo, that makes this cartruck a -chero rather than an -amino or -ampage . Make the jump to hear what Schweppes has to say about this fine machine. galleryPost('DOTSBEVolvochero', 3, 'Canadian Volvochero'); These are scans of 35mm pictures I took a couple of years ago and I thought they might fit in with the other one-off pickup conversions that have been featured on Jalopnik. The used car lot visible in the background of the second shot is this truck's home; they used to be a Volvo dealer but had their franchise pulled in the mid '90s when Volvo decided to move up market (the lot is small, and the neighbourhood isn't great). The guy who owns the dealership still has a number of used Volvos around and also owns a few low mileage Volvos from the '50s/early '60s in...
