The Detroit News is reporting group vice president and general manager for Toyota of the Americas, Bob Carter, has confirmed the 2010 Toyota Prius will be debuting at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show and will be joined by a uniquely styled and appointed version for Lexus. The Prius was set to move upmarket relative to its former iterations, but with a Lexus version now on the way, Toyota's own marketplace may be getting crowded. But the bigger story is how this news makes things far more interesting for January's Detroit Auto Show. galleryPost('ToyotaPriusSpy', 6, '2010 Toyota Prius Out Testing'); Jalopnik Snap Jugdement : Considering we'll be seeing two all-new dedicated hybrids from Toyota, the formal debut of the 2010 Honda hybrid , who knows what from Nissan , and with the first fully-formed Chevy Volt revealed just a couple months earlier, the 2009 Detroit Auto Show is setting up to be a serious, next-gen hybrid battle royal. More interesting to us, contrary to...

The Detroit Auto Show opened up with the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards , which was questionably awarded to the Chevy Malibu and the Mazda CX-9. Today the EyesOn Design awards presented four awards for design excellence and at least three of the four winners made sense. The award for the best production car went to the Cadillac CTS-V , which is very deserving. Also deserving is the BMW X6 , which won the best production truck. The best concept car went to the Cadillac CTS Coupe . The oddity was the best concept truck, which went to the Chrysler ecoVoyager . Calling the ecoVoyager a truck is like calling a dragon a virgin. galleryPost('cadillacctsvdasexterior', 3, 'Best Production Car: Cadillac CTS-V'); galleryPost('bmwx6exterior', 3, 'Best Production Truck: BMW X6'); galleryPost('ctscoupeexterior', 3, 'Best Concept Car: Cadillac CTS Coupe'); galleryPost('chryslerecovoyagerexteriordas', 3, 'Best Concept Truck: Chrysler...

Today GM officially unveiled the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V. Yes, the same CTS-V that we have seen again and again . Don't fret, we're still salivating over it. The CTS-V delivers 550 horsepower at 550 lb.-ft of torque with its 6.2-liter supercharged V8. It is available in six speed manual transmission or automatic with paddle shifters. For the suspension, Magnetic Ride Control ensures that all shocks of the road are absorbed and the Performance Traction Management system should keep all wheels on the road. It will be launching in the fourth quarter of 2008. galleryPost('cadillacctsvdasexterior', 5, '2009 Cadillac CTS-V Live Shots'); galleryPost('cadillacctsvexterior', 18, '2009 Cadillac CTS-V Exterior Press Photos'); galleryPost('cadillacctsvinterior', 3, '2009 Cadillac CTS-V Interior Press Photos');

It's no surprise the Provoq would be peeping its hydrogen-tastic head out at the Detroit Auto Show, especially since GM decided to unveil it at the Consumer Electronic Show last week . Over the week the specs haven't changed -- it's a hydrogen fuel cell crossover capable of traveling 300 miles on a single fill of hydrogen. It's not too shabby in the power department either by being capable of 100 mph top speeds and 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds, which is a 30-percent improvement compared to previous-generation hydrogen fuel cells. The one odd part about the unveiling is when Bob Lutz decided to compare it, in a way, to the iPhone launch. He said Cadillac's E-Flex engine, which the Provoq uses, is "a revolutionary product that changes everything," which was originally said by Steve Jobs referring to the iPhone. Put the iPhone next to the Cadillac Provoq and I couldn't tell a different, what about you? galleryPost('provoqueexteriorlive', 4, 'Cadillac...

Oh, GM. You're so cute by dropping this bombshell on us. You heard it first very early this morning , but now here it is live, and in the flesh -- the Cadillac CTS Coupe. Bob Lutz himself was even amazed at the fact that GM could keep this a secret, well, until now, of course. The design for the vehicle came from the CTS sedan. The sedan design team continued to work and after coming up with something this beautiful, how could you not say no to production. Not a lot of information was further revealed about the vehicle specifics, but it can be adapted for a diesel engine. galleryPost('ctscoupeexterior', 14, 'Cadillac CTS Coupe Exterior Live Shots'); galleryPost('ctacoupeinterior', 3, 'Cadillac CTS Coupe Interior Live Shots');

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Detroit_Auto_Show_2009_Cadillac_CTS_V_Coming_Officially'; We've been salivating over the thought of the upcoming 2009 Cadillac CTS-V for a good long while now, and the press release we just posted on the Provoq concept unveiling is also confirming the Caddy that zooms will be taking the stage for all to see at Detroit. We almost can't wait to see the ultimate expression of art and science (and Corvette power train) in the flesh, but we're just going to have to wait. We're guessing the Cadillac Provoq concept being released at CES will be enough to hold us over till then -- as we've only got a week left until the Detroit Auto Show -- but holding out for a four-door 'merican power sedan with a six-speed attached to a big V8 engine rumored to be delivering power of over 500 horses will be tough going. We've got spy photos below to keep you company until then and the full press release below the jump. galleryPost('2009cadillacctsvspy'...
