The Pederson family may have taken inspiration from the case of the 8-fingered Skyline thief , and have turned to the web to try to recover a stolen 1959 Corvette once owned by their late uncle. After saving his whole life and finally purchasing the red and white 'Vette, the uncle discovered he had cancer and died in late 2007. Only two months later the car was swiped from it's Ronkonkoma, NY garage and hasn't been seen since. A VIN search turns up registration in Florida, but you know how accurate those thing can be these days. So, just in case you're in the market for vintage Corvettes (Junkman, we're looking right at you) keep your eyes peeled for a car with the following description: 1959 Corvette Roadster. Red with White Coves, Red interior and a white hard top. The Corvette is an automatic with spinner wheels and white wall tires. VIN J59S100698. We'll pass on any leads we get, and hopefully this comes out with a Law & Order -style happy ending. Someone...

What is it criminals and Camaros? Does the F-body just scream "Getaway Car" when it's time to flee John Law? One approach is to rob a bank and promptly buy a red Camaro with the money ... or you can do what this gentleman in Indiana did: escape from a roadside trash-cleanup crew by distracting guards with an intentionally clogged toilet, then hoof it to a nearby car dealership, where a helpful salesperson hands you the keys to a shiny red 1995 Camaro convertible. Then, of course, you drive it to your dad's house, where you get nabbed by waiting lawmen. Just once, we'd like to see this kind of story with a Camry as the perp car of choice. [Associated Press]

When you read about some slimeball murdering someone on the orders of some dirtbag, you figure at least they're doing it in order to make a big score of some sort. You know, huge life-insurance policy, millions in gold bullion, etc- it's still reprehensible, but at least there's a twisted sort of logic to the scheme. But how about a Chevy Monte Carlo aficionado getting a 14-year-old to pop a cap in another Monte owner, in order to obtain free parts? And then the triggerman walks because he's over 25 by the time he gets busted? And we're talking about a 1979 Monte Carlo- not even a 454 car! Damn, society is locked in a downward spiral- where's Inspector Callahan? [San Francisco Chronicle]
