The $67K '94 Supra Turbo we saw yesterday earned an 80% Crack Pipe rating from the readers; cool car, but the price was just too high . Today we're going to look at an even cooler car, in fact one of the coolest cars ever manufactured … but the price? £200,000, aka about $300,000. What do you say? [ Car And Classic , thanks to Justice Loverman for the tip] galleryPost('NPOCPCitroenPalmBeach', 13, '1966 Citroen DS21 Chapron For 200K Pounds'); 300 grand for a Citroen DS convertible? ( polls )

Rather than throw elbows in a deal-frenzied crowd of Christmas shoppers on Black Friday last week, I accompanied Black Metal V8olvo crew chief Hellhammer on a parts-car-obtainment mission down to Santa Cruz. Highway 17 was full of shoppers, however, and I spotted this Buick Skylark convertible hauling a huge LCD television and maintaining a pretty decent clip. Note the added safety provided by the dual bungee cords, hooked into the highway-speed-rated cardboard handles. What could possibly go wrong? galleryPost('BlackFridayOlds', 3, 'Buick Convertible Hauls Very Large Television');

newVideoPlayer("/2010-Mustang-Vert.flv", 506, 423,""); Up on the internet; It's bird, it's a plane, it's total 2010 Ford Mustang day! In marketing parlance, we believe this is called a media blitz, and the latest component following the first images and official details and the video of the Mustang GT hard top is this video of the Mustang GT Convertible. Chop the GT badge off and replace the snorting V8 with a non- Ecoboost V6 and you'll be seeing this car driven ad nauseum by cheerleader types in the not too distant future. This GT version of course just lets the tire smoke blow gently through your hair. Demonstration foolishly not provided in video. galleryPost('2010FordMustangGTBlue', 12, 'Mustang GT - Blue'); galleryPost('LA082010MustangGTRed', 12, 'Mustang And Mustang GT - Red'); galleryPost('LA08MustangGTInt', 9, 'Mustang GT - Interior'); [ Youtube.de ]

Bad news for fans of drop top muscle cars: according to multiple sources, the Dodge Challenger Convertible has been canceled and the Chevy Camaro Convertible delayed for at least a year. Luckily Ford will be showing a 2010 Ford Mustang Convertible at next week’s LA Auto Show , with sales scheduled to start in Spring ’09. galleryPost('2011CamaroVertSpy', 3, 'Camaro Convertible'); galleryPost('teaser2010stang', 3, '2010 Ford Mustang Convertible'); galleryPost('semachallengerconvert', 3, 'SEMA Challenger Convertible'); Chrysler and GM’s decisions to respectively kill and delay the ultimate poser’s cars, convertible muscle cars were made for the same reason: money. The unibody Challenger is, unbelievably, not originally engineered to lose its top. So engineering a model capable of retaining its rigidity is, due to the financiapocalypse , now considered wayyy to expensive. Speaking to Motor Trend , a company insider described the Challenger convertible...

Bentley's got a brand new member of the Bentley Arnage gang hitting the streets at the LA Auto Show later this month. It's called the 2009 Bentley Azure T. The new drop-top Bentley gets the same 500 bhp V8 under the hood of the Brooklands coupe and the Arnage Final Series , so this special edition won't be seeing a power boost in this new edition. What should you expect to see a boost? How about the price — and oh yes, the luxury . It's got more diamond quilting! More aluminum finish! More veneer choices! More knurling of the chromed gear knob! More! More! More! Hit the jump to see the rest of the "more." The diamond Bentley key fob is of course, optional. galleryPost('BentleyAzureT', 3, 'Bentley Azure T Gives Us Even More Luxury'); BENTLEY AZURE T • The world's most elegant four-seat convertible now with 500bhp Azure T model • Azure T delivers exhilarating, class-leading performance • Unique Bentley 'T' styling cues reinforce...

Here we go with Nice Price Or Crack Pipe again, offering a chance to chime in with your opinion on reasonable-versus-unreasonable vehicle asking prices. Last time, garbooned poll hamsters made it impossible to say with scientific certainty whether or not the $14,900 Ford Fairmontchero would have been an overwhelming Crack Pipe winner, but the tone of the comments certainly gave that impression. Today we need to look at the recent run-up in Geo Metro prices and decide whether we think six-plus grand is still beyond reason for a low-miles Metro convertible. Thanks to Chris for the tip! [ Craigslist Denver ; go here if listing disappears] 6200 bucks for a 1992 Geo Metro? ( polls )

You remember that recent Dodge statement basically confirming there would not be a Dodge Challenger Convertible ? Who cares if Dodge won't bring it, because it's just opening the doors for aftermarket converters like Coach Builders Ltd. , bringing their interpretation of a drop-top Mopar pony to the SEMA show in Vegas next month. For the show, Coach Builders' Challenger gets 560 HP from a supercharger and other underhood mods, along with the requisite obnoxious wheels and what appears to be a Challenger T/A-inspired strobe stripe, though it comes off looking more like safety tape. galleryPost('semachallengerconvert', 9, 'Next Time Maybe Just Take The Top Off And Stop There'); Priced at about $16,000 on top of the cost of a Challenger, the conversion nets you hidden chassis bracing and a power hydraulic top with extra sound insulation, an integrated headliner and heated rear window. Body kit and engine package pricing hasn't been determined yet, as the company...

Having just read Mark Kurlansky's book about the Basques (after being dragged into Kurlansky-land by his excellent histories of cod and salt , the way marijuana leads to heroin), I thought it was pretty cool when LivingAbroad70 sent in these shots of an incredibly rare Citroën DS Palm Beach convertible found parked down on the Zarautz street. Make the jump to read LivingAbroad70's description. galleryPost('DOTSBECitroenPalmBeach', 6, 'Citroen Palm Beach Down On The Basque Street'); As an American living in the Spanish part of the Basque Country, I have a certain curiosity about classic European cars that locals don't usually share with me. Cars like the Renault 5, Seat/Fiat 600, etc. are not head turners over here, so they're not really appreciated, but when I came across this thing in a small city named Zarautz I knew I'd hit jackpot. This Citroën Palm Beach convertible was parked in front of a hotel and it had french plates, so its owner must be a French...

The British-owned leftovers of the collapse of MG Rover continue to develop cars, and this is their latest: The MG X-Power SV-S WRC (that's William Riley Convertible, not World Rally Championship). The SV-S WRC is obviously the pop-top version of the regular SV-S, but what isn't so obvious is the switch to an all Kevlar body, which means the car only gains 26.5 pounds. Motivation comes via a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 which pushes the big orange brute from a stop to 62 MPH in 3.8 seconds on to a top speed of 195 MPH. galleryPost('mgsvswrc', 3, 'MG X-Power SV-S WRC'); Options for the car include a lift-off hard top instead of the folding soft top. And, if you aren't interested in that crushing performance, there is the SV-R WRC, which is the same car but with a 420 HP, non-supercharged v8 that'll do 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and top out at just 185 MPH. Booooring. If the idea of a supercar wearing the MG moniker has your heart racing, you had better start saving...

Back when we shared the tale of the Perodua Kelisa-driving holdup men , some commenters took issue with the claim that the cheap Malaysian subcompact was #1 on Jeremy Clarkson's Most Hated Cars list. Fair enough- Clarkson hates a lot of cars… but his loathing for the Chrysler Sebring convertible plumbs new depths of bile. American cars (and foreign policy) are bad because Americans have no sense of history, according to Clarkson, and the Sebring is worst of all: "The insurgency problem in Baghdad and the wonky gearlever on the Chrysler Sebring. They are both caused by exactly the same thing." Too bad we don't know any history, or we'd be able to come back with some clever cracks about the map-drawing Brits who drew up the crazily arbitrary national boundaries that facilitate such lively ethnic conflict in the Middle East, the Balkans, and South Asia today. The next-generation MINI Convertible is set to bow at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show , with models arriving in dealer showrooms just in time for warm weather cruising next spring. The most noticeable revision on the new drop-top is the lack of intrusive roll bars found on the current model. Instead, the new MINI 'vert gets a single pop-up bar that deploys automatically in the event of a rollover. A multi-stage convertible top also is said to allow a sunroof mode as well as full-open motoring, although it still stacks on the rear deck in so-called "pram" fashion, neatly eliminating pesky rear visibility. Welcome to Down On The Street , where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. After seeing some kind of weird foreign wagon yesterday, we're going to return to good ol' vintage Detroit iron today. Yes, before The General got all innovative with electron-powered machinery, he was building two-ton cruisers that didn't just park- they dropped anchor. This one is a '74 Buick LeSabre, a car that told OPEC it didn't give a damn about the 1973 Oil Crisis ! I found this car on the same block as the Studebaker Avanti , '69 Buick , and the '65 Ranchero . The Luxus was the high-end LeSabre for '74, and it came standard with a snazzy steering wheel, special hubcaps, and a vinyl notchback seat. The convertible sold for $4,696, about 50 bucks less than the '74 Caprice Classic convertible. Yes, the big Chevy convertible cost more than the big Buick convertible! This example is in great shape, either a low...

We knew there was going to be a Fiat 500 Convertible , but we didn’t realize Fiat was working on one of those full-length, Citroën 2CV-esque cloth sunroof things. The ahead-of-the-curve opinion-formers over at Next Autos seem to think the car will receive the clunky Cabriolet Coach designation, but we’re not sure if all those chrome letters would fit on the back of the diminutive Cinquecento. While this soft top Fiat 500 is significantly less gay than the Castagna Tender Two , like all modern retros, it’s still extremely limp-wristed. The coup de grace, in the form of a Mini Convertible-rivaling full-convertible 500 is expected to arrive some time next year. If you’re comfortable with your sexuality and you want people to know it, or you’re just a cute young girl, go for it. Just watch out for Audi Q7s headed in your direction. [via Next Autos ]

Mere hours after we showed our renderings of the 2010 Shelby GT500 the photographers from KGP had a surprise for us: photos of a very lightly disguised 2010 GT500 convertible. This topless and likely line-topping version of the 2010 Ford Mustang will likely debut sometime after the base Mustang and offer a fiercer look and more power. As with the renderings from earlier, this GT500 seems to sport new hood ducts to help the mighty Mustang breathe deeply. The GT500 was conveniently captured within a fog that managed to obscure the spot where the engineers were snapped. Spy report below the jump. galleryPost('10gt500krcz', 5, 'Someone Has Been Watching The Mist'); The next-generation Mustang prototypes have begun running around without their prior heavy vinyl camouflage. The latest Mustangprototypes are disguised only with a graphic tape, providing a very clean view of Ford's revamped Pony Car. We just caught a prototype for the next Shelby GT500 convertible in this more...

By removing its B-pillar and extending its wheelbase, Chery hopes to make its mid-size Eastar sedan the last word in four-door convertible luxury. Little else is known about the vehicle, other than that it may be equipped with Chery’s patented FlexFrame™ ride improvement system. It's not known when the Chery Eastar Convertible will hit the market, but we’d put our money on it dropping at next year’s Beijing Auto Show . galleryPost('cheryeastarconvertible', 3, 'Chery Eastar Convertible'); [via China Car Times ]
