Saturday Night Live took on the not-so-Big Three's congressional testimony and "jetpooling" incident in this weekend's "cold open," and unfortunately fell into the trap of shamelessly mocking tired stereotypes. Which is sad, because we'd watched SNL take on a new level of relevancy as of late thanks to the uber-adorable Tina Fey and an election season devoid of real political commentary. That's not to say watching Will Forte as Rick Wagoner, Darrell Hammond as Bob "The Builder" Nardelli and Jason Sudeikis as Alan Mulally isn't funny, but hearing about quality issues on the upcoming Ford Fiesta and a Cadillac XLR-V is a bit ol' and busted if you ask us. Now quality issues on a Chrysler 300C? That's comedic genius. While admitting Detroit needs help, he said it's important to make sure it's conditioned on the stakeholders (labor, suppliers, execs) coming up with a plan for a sustainable domestic auto industry as opposed to just giving out "a bridge loan to nowhere." Oh, yes, he went there. This was taped before the scary GM video , which at the very least we're hoping, convinced him to buy a Save GM t-shirt .

Exterior Design: **** The 2008 Dodge Charger Police Edition benefits from the inherently aggressive looks of the standard Charger's angry headlamps and strong rear haunches. Of course, each car's style will be affected by the livery of its jurisdiction. Our car looks badass in black with the exposed steel wheels and a spot lamp mounted in the A-pillar, but we would've liked to have a push-bar in front to make it even more intimidating. Interior Design: *** Function rules over form inside the Police Edition. The center console and floor shifter have disappeared, making room for a large mounting surface for police equipment, relocating the autostick to the steering column. You would think a cop car might have some sort of donut holder molded into the dashboard, but there aren't even any cup holders. But the three stars come entirely from the rubber floors, making you free to spill beverages or bodily fluids without fear of a difficult cleanup, and the red night-light. galleryPost...

What we have here is the '67 Belvedere (a "whale of a lot of car for the money"), the "rich-looking compact" '67 Valiant and the '67 Fury, whose "beauty and luxury make it hard to believe you're in the low-price field." Hmm, for a minute there we were thinking we were actually listening to Chrysler's most recent "new day" marketing campaign . Well, except without the animated kid, of course.

Well, watch the talking head above and see. I am very happy to bear witness to Chrysler taking another step towards the future of car entertainment and infotainment centers--which amounts to simply slapping a complete PC into the dash. So which manufacturer wants to be the first to have a factory installed Windows- or OS X-powered machine that is completely open to customization? Any takers? All in all, it's a really, really easy system to use. So easy I would be comfortable letting my grandmother attempt to save music to the hard drive. Whether it's fueling the fire of the " Muscle Car Wars " (coming soon to a Woodward Avenue near you!) or coming to work dressed as his favorite sexual fantasy , Vines certainly doesn't act like other auto PR bosses. The newest example is the e-mail we just received with a video revealing some sketches of the automakers Detroit Auto Show concepts for the Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep brands. The video stars Vines, Chrysler's chief product man Frank Klegon, chief design man Trevor Creed and Sandy Fraser, the real boss running the show over at Chrysler PR.
