We anticipate the Dodge Challenger will have a substantial showing at this years SEMA show, and if these two entries from Mr. Norm are any indication, its going to be a big horsepower show. The "Super Challenger" and "Super Cuda" are a pair of heavily modified Challengers sporting 900 HP from Kenne Bell supercharged V8s in addition to their snappy styling and big wheels. Considering the heft of the Challenger is one of its biggest problems, 900 HP seems a good starting point for upgrades. The production program for both won't start with 900 horses. Instead, they'll start at a base model, complemented by several stages with upscale performance and accessories. In addition, each of the parts and add-ons featured on the Mr. Norm's Super Challenger will be available to enthusiasts separately. So feel free to mix and match at your pleasure. Two of the most humorously cheesy press releases since Velveeta went into business await below to explain the details. galleryPost...

The brochure for the new 2009 Dodge Challenger has hit the automotive webosphere and Mopar-mad fan-boys are drooling over an item we think will be an instant classic. The car? At this point, unknown. But the brochure will totally hit the "Found on EBay" pages shortly. That's because Dodge has created a gorgeous piece of showroom lit — with the fonts, photography, and graphic touches that channel the 70's Challenger. But as always, it's what's inside that counts. And inside the brochure is shot after shot of the new pony car from Dodge in all sorts of variations — each more amazingly retrosexual than the last. There's the R/T Classic Package Challenger, complete with old-school Challenger badging and a set of strobe-style side stripes. But it's the the new "Track Pak" for the quarter-mile fans that gets us going this morning — featuring a made-for-the-drag-strip package complete with 3.91 rear gear, a set of 20s, and the all-important...

The peaches over at Speedfactory Cars out in Georgia have employed the magic of forced induction to achieve 495 HP at the rear wheels of a Dodge Challenger SRT8. Using a centrifugal supercharger sending boost through an air-to-water intercooler, Speedfactory's dyno graph also shows maximum torque output of about 451 ft-lbs. While official figures aren't yet available — and we're not entirely sure which of the packages offered they've got running on this SRT8 — the commonly accepted 20% power loss from crank to rear wheels means this Challenger should be pounding out right around 600 HP at the crank. We'll take two. [ Speedfactory Cars via LX Forums ]

Eagle-eyed reader Eywolf noticed something peculiar yesterday morning when we ran the new 2009 Dodge Challenger images and press release. After our fearless leader was lambasted by Chrysler PR for what seemed like hours over our suggestion the press images for the Chicago Auto Show unveil of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 had been massaged to enhance reality, it seems there may be further p-chopping on the latest batch of images in an apparent attempt to deceive the muscle-loving public into believing Chrysler has more than one color available for the Challenger save money . We took the time to create an animated gif of two of the images in question -- one, a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 from Chicago (in orange). The other, a purported image of the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 (in white)... galleryPost('challengerchop3', 2, 'Were These Challenger Photos Manipulated?'); We thought this time we'd reserve commentary on whether or not it's really been digitally enhanced...

And just when you thought you have had enough of the 2008 Dodge Challenger , the 2009 models are here and even better, perhaps? Still being touted as the happy middle between the Chrysler 300 and Charger is the Challenger. All models of this beaut includes the HEMI engine, MyGIG system, best-in-class trunk space and more. There will be three different models of the Dodge Challenger available including the SRT8 that features a 6.1-liter HEMI V8, the R/T and SE. The R/T features a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with five-speed automatic transmission and 370 HP. The weakling of the group is the Challenger SE that has a 3.5-liter high-output automatic V6 that produced 250 horsepower. Introducing the All-New 2009 Dodge Challenger 35 Years Later, Dodge Redefines Modern American Muscle * Re-creation of vintage American muscle car blends nostalgic flair with modern engineering and technology * First five-passenger, two-door coupe produced from proven Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger platform * First modern-day...

It's no news that the 300's been a hit for Chrysler -- and we here at the Jalop obviously are fans of the Dodge Charger SRT8 , and the new Dodge Challenger 's certainly got itself a purdy mouth. But there's potentially going to be some fuel economy issues inherent with a RWD, Hemi-powered platform given the current desire by Washington to focus toward beating up automakers and away from a more common-sensical Euro approach to increasing fuel economy. So what's the three-headed dog-owned car company going to do? According to the website for the lovers, the dreamers and me the answer is -- not a whole lot. The Car Connection is reporting: "Chrysler's plans for its large 300/Charger sedans include a major makeover for the 2011 model year. But while Chrysler's new managers have been dropping hints about the future of the HEMI engine, there's not much they can do about the rear-drive layout of the big sedans." Although we can barely contain our glee...

A reader over at CarScoop managed to catch a pair of production-looking 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 muscle cars hanging out at Roush, tuner of most things Ford. There are a couple of interesting things going on here. First, there don't appear to be any racing stripes, which could lead you to think these aren't SRT8's, though we think they area. Second, they're hanging out in front of Roush. galleryPost('08DodgeChallengerSRT8P', 3, '2008 Dodge Challenger Production'); Is this a couple of engineers with Challengers paying a visit to mock Roush and their Mustang entrant into the Muscle Car Wars ? Is Roush going to be tuning the next generation of Challengers? Did the drivers stop to take a leak? We don't know, but we're happy to speculate. [Oot via CarScoop ]

Thanks to the kind folks over at Autoweek -- and via the folks at the Line on the Inside over at Edmunds -- we can now add an official press shot of the 2008 Dodge Challenger to our growing collection from the broken embargo . The main difference between concept and reality is the loss of the LED rear lights. The tips on the twin exhausts also become single rectangles, there's some added detail in the bumper, the reverse lights are a nifty single, central unit and the rear spoiler is all black. You can compare and contrast the changes in the galleries below. Don't forget, we'll be bringing you live coverage from the Challenger's official unveiling from the Chicago Auto Show next week. galleryPost('08DodgeChallengerSRT8P', 6, '2008 Dodge Challenger'); galleryPost('DodgeChallenger', 6, 'Dodge Challenger Concept');

The buff boys over at the buff book named Car und Driver appear to be needing some crucial reader input on their April issue. They, or a duly-sworn representative, appear to have taken it upon themselves to send out some versions of their cover to a small clinic group of readers to determine which shots should get the limelight of being an actual C&D cover. What's really funny to us is we remember overhearing a conversation involving Editor-in-Chief Csabe Csere at Narita Airport in the Northwest Worldclub waiting for our flight back from the Tokyo Auto Show. Csaba was loudly proclaiming how his publication is very careful with embargoed information, never -- ever -- letting outsiders have access to covers. We also remember hearing him say that other outlets (in the case being talked about, it was Motor Trend 's accidental embargo breach on the Nissan GT-R) need to be more careful with covers that reveal sensitive information -- and that Car & Driver doesn't ever run...

So the three-headed dog that runs "The New Chrysler" showed off their new muscle car to their wide world of dealers and a select group of media in Vegas last week. But it wasn't the concept car 2008 Dodge Challenger we've been seeing since it's first reveal at last year's Detroit Auto Show. Instead, they showed off what we're hearing is the production version of the new '08 Dodge Challenger via some secret camera phone shots from either a media person or dealer in attendance at the event. Luckily, as we didn't go, it obviously couldn't have been us who snapped these shots -- but fear not, we've got the utmost expectation we'll be getting a call from Chrysler PR blaming us for it. We'll just have to wait for the Chicago Auto Show to see it in person. Full spy report after the jump. galleryPost('2008DodgeChallengerVegas', 4, '2008 Dodge Challenger Caught In Vegas'); "-Comes out in March as 08 model -5500 to be built, all SRT8's with AUTOMATICS for 38K -July 08 production begins for the 09...
