If you watched yesterday's episode of Top Gear — specifically, the American muscle challenge you may have noticed a rather cherry vintage R/T Challenger in the background. The car belongs to Mark, an Englishman with a penchant for vintage Mopar muscle and a willingness to share the car with others. In addition to the most recent episode of Top Gear , Mark's Challenger was also featured in Motor Trend alongside the new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 . Sweet gods of motoring modification, is nothing holy? Hotchkis will be bringing a pair of heavily modified Dodge Challengers to this year's SEMA show in Vegas. We've no problem with the modded 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 they're towing to the show. No, our problem is with the other — a 1970 T/A 340 Six-Pack. We don't have much info on the new Challenger, but we do know the paint scheme will match the vintage one shown — which is not an original 340 Six Pack, thankfully. And the paint is just the beginning of the modifications. Under the skin, the '70 gets custom upper A-arms riding on relocated pickup points, aluminum tie rods, struts with Heim joints, two-inch-drop springs, front and rear way bars, Flowmaster exhaust and Stoptech brakes hiding behind Forgeline wheels riding on a set of Yokohamas. All of it can go back to stock, and we suspect it probably handles a helluva lot better than the wet noodle it started as, but some things should just go undone...

What comes to mind when you think of the color orange? No, besides pumpkins. That's right, the Dodge Challenger ! Now, you can combine the two and make a Challenger-o-lantern, just in time for Halloween. We know, the example provided by Dodge doesn't exactly show off their pumpkin chopping skills, but they've at least included a stencil for you to try it yourself. Originally intended to start on October 26th, Top Gear is now officially slated for a return to television on November 2nd. We can hardly wait for Series 12 to start, particularly because of the American road trip Jeremy and the boys had in a 2009 Corvette ZR1 , 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V . Though we'll have to see if their hour-long special trip to Vietnam is part of the upcoming series, or a stand-alone. [via TopGear ]

The war between Detroit's muscle car threesome may have just begun, but as you can see in this newest episode of Torque.TV 's Head-2-Head series, it's already a shooting war. Like we saw in the preview clip , this face-off pits a 725 HP Mustang GT500 against a 725 HP Challenger SRT8 in a good ol' tire-smokin' fossil-fuel-burnin' good time. Who will come out on top? After seeing Top Gear UK boys hitting the streets of Reno in a Cadillac CTS-V , Dodge Challenger SRT8 and Corvette ZR1 , we now know where they were headed — the Bonneville Salt Flats. This mess of pictures pretty much confirm that TGUK will be pushing the cars to their terminal velocity while making quips about Mormons and polygamy — and all while — umm — wearing baseball caps? Sure, whatever floats their British boats. It also looks like James May has taken a liking to a polished-up Shelby Cobra that was at the flats as well. We're stoked that Chrysler is offering a Dodge Challenger Drag Pak turn-key racer, but how exactly do you go about ordering one from your local Dodge dealer? Since these mighty Mopars are going to be limited production, you gotta prove you're worthy. First, you're required to submit your application in writing to a dealer, who will then fax it to Mopar Motorsports' secret lair. Keep in mind that this is all first-come first-served, so you probably want to get a fax confirmation to make sure your paperwork went through. But what qualifications will buyers have to meet? It's recommended that potential buyers have "a current Competition License or sanctioning body affiliation prior to ordering their vehicle." So, n00bs need not apply. That's because Mopar wants to put their best foot forward with the Drag Challenger. They've even specified that the "buyer is encouraged to have the Challenger Drag Pak vehicle in competition within a reasonable amount...

Apparently it's one of many "bitter rivalries" from the upcoming second season of "Head 2 Head" on Torque TV . Others include races pitting the WRX vs an Evo and a GT-R vs a 911. If you're watching the above clip, and you're curious as to the difference between Torque TV and Speed TV , Torque TV has a woman in a tight-fitting top dropping her arms at the tree, while Speed TV relies on a bald guy wearing the same black t-shirt. Sure, it's fun to watch a girl jump up and down while excitedly thinking about making her S.A.G. check, but many gearheads may find these matchups kind of predictable. Here it is fan-boys, this is a photo we've waited patiently for what seems like an eternity to see. We believe the above shot of the threesome of new muscle cars from Detroit to be the first time the 2010 Chevy Camaro RS , a 2009 Ford Mustang CS and a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 have all been captured in the same photo. Yes, we traveled a great distance, risked a great deal and received quite a mouthful from one snarling PR person in order to bring you this first shot of the trio. Although well worth it, at least one staffer on site wasn't as happy to have a picture of Chevy's new muscle car taken as we'd hoped he would be. Whatever. Credit Ford and Doge for being pleased as punch to welcome back the Camaro to the muscle car war block in the best way they know how — by letting us rev the engines of their latest entries hard outside San Diego's Hard Rock Hotel. Although we already knew from our exclusive visit to the Hennessey compound , the Hennessey Challenger SRT600 churns outs 536 HP and 582 lb-ft of torque at the wheels, we'd been waiting to see just how fast it would be. Well, now we know, and we've got video from the Texas-based tuners to prove it.

Last month's review of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 may have seemed to some a blinding orgy of Detroit love. Having just moved from Detroit to New York City, I was homesick and was seemingly in need of a shot of Motor City muscle. Still, I offer no apology, because despite the rose-colored glasses, I managed to outline the three glaring issues with the low-volume '08 model year Challenger SRT8 — the outdated interior, the weight and most importantly, the automatic transmission. After spending a day this past week driving the new 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T, SRT8 and SE on the roads of New York City and on the Raceway Park track at Englishtown, NJ, Dodge has fixed at least one-third of the Challenger's problems. Our buddy Scott Burgess over at the Detroit News has taken on the rekindled problem of which ponycar now reigns supreme. With the Ford Mustang GT500 and its thousands of variations, the reborn Dodge Challenger (now in SRT8 flavor) , and the recently unveiled Chevy Camaro all vying for eyes, there won't be enough Calvin-peeing-on-competitor decals to go around. Though the conclusion is left up in the air, Scott still provides an amusing simile while comparing the Ford to Chuck Norris with a Bowflex. [ Detroit News ]
