Feast your eyes on one of only two Vortech-supercharged 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 's — blacked out, naturally. The Challenger SRT8 already makes 425 HP with the 6.1-liter Hemi, but would you believe this supercharged monster is currently dynoing at 540 HP and 500 lb-ft of torque? You know that scene in cartoons when the junkyard dogs see a sexy lady-dog saunter past and their eyes bug out of their heads and their tongues hit the floor as they start panting uncontrollably? Yeah, we just did that. galleryPost('vortecchall', 6, 'Supercharged Challenger'); The supercharger package is currently undergoing final tuning at the Vortech facilities and is targeted for sale in August. This one made an appearance at the All-Mopar Nationals last weekend where tipster Adam Geake, owner of HXC Performance, snapped a couple of shots for us. Expect more news from Adam soon, as HXC is working on a 'Cuda version of the Challenger for all those Plymouth fans out there.

newVideoPlayer("G4-Challenger.flv", 494, 371,""); Remember when we saw that black Dodge Challenger SRT8 making some runs at Irwindale Speedway ? Remember the unknown "blonde bombshell" at the wheel last week? Well, it's confirmed — she is a bombshell, and now she's no longer "unknown." Turns out it was Alison Haislip of G4TV doing a bit of test dragging with Chrsylerberus' new Mopar muscle car. Here we get to see her take a stab at a Shelby Mustang that almost loses it into the wall while losing to a girl — well, at least that's what it looks like from the editing. We're just stuck wondering how a bunch of tech nerds got their hands on one of these before us. Hey Dodge, are you listening? [ G4TV ]

newVideoPlayer("challenger-track.flv", 494, 371,""); Loyal reader Jack found himself at Irwindale Raceway in SoCal yesterday for the run-what-ya-brung night and lookie what was there, a brand new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 . Here we catch a glimpse of the lady-driver givin' it to a Honda Civic SI in an 1/8th mile run which sees the new Mopar take it easy all the way to a winning finish. At least that's what we hope we're seeing. If a Challenger doesn't obliterate an SI at the strip something is very wrong. We're still wondering who the blonde bombshell behind the wheel was. Anyone out there know? Also, does the Challenger pictured here have the legendary drag package we've heard about for almost a year now? galleryPost('ChallengerDragsIrwindale', 12, 'Challenger Drags Irwindale, Brings Women With It');[ Youtube via Jack]

Amusing, it's taken a little over two years but the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 has gone from a concept revealed on the show floor of the 2006 Detroit Auto Show to parking on the roof of Cobo during the 2008 SAE World Congress. This shiny red one was parked staring straight at the GM RenCen buildings almost like some bruiser looking for a fight with a Camaro. This one even has a little battle scar on the front passenger side fender to prove it can hang with the tough kids. galleryPost('challengersrtsix', 9, 'Challenger SRT8 Six Speed On Cobo Roof');

Everyone had so much fun with the Honda Pilot Sketch v. Reality that we thought we'd look at the production Challenger SRT8 leaked photos and the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 concept car to see what's changed, what's stayed the same and what we have to look forward to at the Chicago Auto Show . 1. CROSSHAIRS GRILLE &ndash The most obvious immediate change is the concept's crosshairs grille, which gets dropped in favor of a blacked-out mesh job similar to that found on the original Challengers. 2. B-PILLAR &ndash The B-pillar seems to exist on the production model, though small and black. 3. FRONT FENDER &ndash Though more pronounced on the silver SRT8 seen testing , there's a small lip spoiler on the edge of the front fender that doesn't appear to be on the concept version. 4. WHEELS & TIRES &ndash Unfortunately, the production model might have treads on the tires as opposed to the nearly treadless slicks on the concept version. 5. REAR LIGHTBAR...

The folks at ALLPAR , who are rarely known for idle talk, have uncovered some details on the all new 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8. What we've learned is that the first SRT-8 Special Editions will come fully loaded at $40,095 with the 6.1-Liter Hemi engine and five-speed autostick. If you're in the market for one, we hope you like Hemi orange, silver or black, as these are the only colors the SE will come in. The only options are a MyGig Nav/Audio System ($890), Summer Tires ($50) and a Power Sunroof ($950). The other addition is Hill Start Assist, which was previously available on Chrysler truck products like the Ram, Commander, Liberty and Grand Cherokee. The system works by maintaining the same level of brake pressure applied before the driver switches to the throttle, and then releasing the break in proportion to the increase in throttle. This is helpful if you're set to run away from a determined police detective in San Francisco. [ ALLPAR ]
