Originally intended to start on October 26th, Top Gear is now officially slated for a return to television on November 2nd. We can hardly wait for Series 12 to start, particularly because of the American road trip Jeremy and the boys had in a 2009 Corvette ZR1 , 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V . Though we'll have to see if their hour-long special trip to Vietnam is part of the upcoming series, or a stand-alone. [via TopGear ]

We're stoked that Chrysler is offering a Dodge Challenger Drag Pak turn-key racer, but how exactly do you go about ordering one from your local Dodge dealer? Since these mighty Mopars are going to be limited production, you gotta prove you're worthy. First, you're required to submit your application in writing to a dealer, who will then fax it to Mopar Motorsports' secret lair. Keep in mind that this is all first-come first-served, so you probably want to get a fax confirmation to make sure your paperwork went through. But what qualifications will buyers have to meet? It's recommended that potential buyers have "a current Competition License or sanctioning body affiliation prior to ordering their vehicle." So, n00bs need not apply. That's because Mopar wants to put their best foot forward with the Drag Challenger. They've even specified that the "buyer is encouraged to have the Challenger Drag Pak vehicle in competition within a reasonable amount...

After more than a year of anticipation, Chrysler has taken the wraps off the Drag Package for the 2008 Dodge Challenger (Read our three-part review of the SRT8 here !). At least 100 of the Mopar muscle machines will be built, each tailored for the specific NHRA category in which the buyer wishes to compete. The big decision will be whether you want a 5.9-liter Magnum wedge, 5.7-liter Hemi or the big 'n nasty 6.1-liter Hemi. Any of them can be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. Full details in the press release below the jump. galleryPost('dragdodgechallenger', 6, 'Dodge Challenger Drag Pack, Race-Ready Retro Rod'); The Drag Package Challengers are also stripped down and fitted with lightweight components like a composite lift-off style hood, which also comes in handy if you want to disturb the peace in your neighborhood. Of course, the cars won't be street legal, so if you want to cruise Woodward, you'll be asking for trouble. Center Line...

At this years SEMA show, Dodge will be unveiling a new supercharger kit for the 2008 Dodge Challenger , providing the potential to significantly boost output from the stock 425 HP (in SRT8 trim). The dealer-installed option will be sold through the Mopar brand, and if the co-developed kits from Speedfactory are any indication, it'll consist of a Vortec blower with a cold air intake good for a whopping 630 HP. Hey, that's right up there with the Corvette ZR1's numbers. Okay, so the Challenger will still fall behind thanks to its rather portly 4,140 lb curb weight, but that'll be one hell of a ride. Oh, and don't get yourselves in a tizzy over that Plum Crazy Purple Challenger; we did that one ourselves, Chrysler style . [ MotorAuthority ]

newVideoPlayer("G4-Challenger.flv", 494, 371,""); Remember when we saw that black Dodge Challenger SRT8 making some runs at Irwindale Speedway ? Remember the unknown "blonde bombshell" at the wheel last week? Well, it's confirmed — she is a bombshell, and now she's no longer "unknown." Turns out it was Alison Haislip of G4TV doing a bit of test dragging with Chrsylerberus' new Mopar muscle car. Here we get to see her take a stab at a Shelby Mustang that almost loses it into the wall while losing to a girl — well, at least that's what it looks like from the editing. We're just stuck wondering how a bunch of tech nerds got their hands on one of these before us. Hey Dodge, are you listening? [ G4TV ]

newVideoPlayer("challenger-track.flv", 494, 371,""); Loyal reader Jack found himself at Irwindale Raceway in SoCal yesterday for the run-what-ya-brung night and lookie what was there, a brand new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 . Here we catch a glimpse of the lady-driver givin' it to a Honda Civic SI in an 1/8th mile run which sees the new Mopar take it easy all the way to a winning finish. At least that's what we hope we're seeing. If a Challenger doesn't obliterate an SI at the strip something is very wrong. We're still wondering who the blonde bombshell behind the wheel was. Anyone out there know? Also, does the Challenger pictured here have the legendary drag package we've heard about for almost a year now? galleryPost('ChallengerDragsIrwindale', 12, 'Challenger Drags Irwindale, Brings Women With It');[ Youtube via Jack]

What better way to kick off the sales of your new muscle car, the last relevant piece of new product you're going to introduce for a while, than to invite a couple of guys who are best known for selling motorcycles. Paul, Sr. and Paul, Jr. of American Chopper fame were on hand to show off the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 . And what did we learn that you may not have learned from any of the sixteen or seventeen Challenger posts that already ran today? Dodge was smart enough to low-ball the 0-60 mph in the initial press release, as the actual car gets a more respectable 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 170 mph and a quarter-mile in the 13's. There is also video of it jumping, as seen in this image of questionable authenticity , but it only goes about 8 inches off the ground. Press release below the jump -- in case you missed it the last time. galleryPost('doanechallengersrt8reveal', 9, '2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 - Revealed Live'); 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8...

Given how bad the photoshopping was of the original 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 , we thought you'd like some live shots. And while those shots weren't supposed to go up for another few hours, our intrepid photographer managed to catch one de-robed, as it were, during a rehearsal for the big reveal. galleryPost('doanechallengersrt8', 3, 'First Live Shots Of Dodge Challenger');

Employing the same skill as a 12-year-old grafting his head on Eli Manning's body, Chrysler's media team made the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 fly. There are so many problems with this 6th grade photochop that it would occupy us for the rest of the day trying to make fun of them and we couldn't bring you live pictures of the Ford Transit Connect . We've numbered the seven most obvious errors, bad clones and just outright injustices. You identify them and hopefully add some more. A reader over at CarScoop managed to catch a pair of production-looking 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 muscle cars hanging out at Roush, tuner of most things Ford. There are a couple of interesting things going on here. First, there don't appear to be any racing stripes, which could lead you to think these aren't SRT8's, though we think they area. Second, they're hanging out in front of Roush. galleryPost('08DodgeChallengerSRT8P', 3, '2008 Dodge Challenger Production'); Is this a couple of engineers with Challengers paying a visit to mock Roush and their Mustang entrant into the Muscle Car Wars ? Is Roush going to be tuning the next generation of Challengers? Did the drivers stop to take a leak? We don't know, but we're happy to speculate. [Oot via CarScoop ]

Thanks to the kind folks over at Autoweek , we can now add an official press shot of the 2008 Dodge Challenger to our growing collection from the broken embargo . The main difference between concept and reality is the loss of the LED rear lights. The tips on the twin exhausts also become single rectangles, there's some added detail in the bumper, the reverse lights are a nifty single, central unit and the rear spoiler is all black. You can compare and contrast the changes in the galleries below. Don't forget, we'll be bringing you live coverage from the Challenger's official unveiling from the Chicago Auto Show next week. galleryPost('08DodgeChallengerSRT8P', 6, '2008 Dodge Challenger'); galleryPost('DodgeChallenger', 6, 'Dodge Challenger Concept');

Yup, more evidence that the Muscle Car Wars are on! After we showed you that single shot of the new 2010 Ford Mustang interior and after we ran the two covers Car & Driver saw slip out way too early, we happened upon the above shot of the interior for the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T on a few of the forums all about the new muscle car from the Ram-headed brand. So what do we see? Well -- we see a lot of standard instrument panels, radio units and HVAC controls. But check out that silver plastic around the instrument cluster. Most importantly, check out that leather-and-chrome wrapped shifter. Now that we like. Click the jump to see a larger shot and remember, we'll be bringing you coverage of the official reveal live in just two weeks at the Chicago Auto Show . galleryPost('2008ChallengerSRT8Snow', 6, 'Spy Photos - 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8');

Everyone had so much fun with the Honda Pilot Sketch v. Reality that we thought we'd look at the production Challenger SRT8 leaked photos and the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 concept car to see what's changed, what's stayed the same and what we have to look forward to at the Chicago Auto Show . 1. CROSSHAIRS GRILLE &ndash The most obvious immediate change is the concept's crosshairs grille, which gets dropped in favor of a blacked-out mesh job similar to that found on the original Challengers. 2. B-PILLAR &ndash The B-pillar seems to exist on the production model, though small and black. 3. FRONT FENDER &ndash Though more pronounced on the silver SRT8 seen testing , there's a small lip spoiler on the edge of the front fender that doesn't appear to be on the concept version. 4. WHEELS & TIRES &ndash Unfortunately, the production model might have treads on the tires as opposed to the nearly treadless slicks on the concept version. 5. REAR LIGHTBAR...
