An editor over at Cars.com , driving between Chicago and Detroit, noticed a bright blue 2010 Chevy Camaro RS just hanging out at a gas station outside of the Motor City. We're assuming the manufacturer-plated car is probably either an early pre-production model or from GM's captive test fleet. Either that or a cash-strapped GM decided to save money by not advertising the car's release and there are a bunch of them sitting at Chevy dealerships where they'll likely never be discovered. Probably not. [ Kicking Tires ]

Bad news for fans of drop top muscle cars: according to multiple sources, the Dodge Challenger Convertible has been canceled and the Chevy Camaro Convertible delayed for at least a year. Luckily Ford will be showing a 2010 Ford Mustang Convertible at next week’s LA Auto Show , with sales scheduled to start in Spring ’09. galleryPost('2011CamaroVertSpy', 3, 'Camaro Convertible'); galleryPost('teaser2010stang', 3, '2010 Ford Mustang Convertible'); galleryPost('semachallengerconvert', 3, 'SEMA Challenger Convertible'); Chrysler and GM’s decisions to respectively kill and delay the ultimate poser’s cars, convertible muscle cars were made for the same reason: money. The unibody Challenger is, unbelievably, not originally engineered to lose its top. So engineering a model capable of retaining its rigidity is, due to the financiapocalypse , now considered wayyy to expensive. Speaking to Motor Trend , a company insider described the Challenger convertible...

In case you haven't seen the 2010 Chevy Camaro enough yet, GM is bringing four concept Camaros to SEMA this week, some of them actually interesting. The lineup includes the Camaro LS7 Concept (guess what that one's got under the hood), Camaro Dale Earnhardt Jr. Concept (yeah, we figured), Camaro Black Concept and the Camaro GS Racecar Concept, along with a GM Performance Parts car loaded to the gills with stuff you can buy for your Camaro — the one that won't be in your garage until at least next year. Let's take a closer look at this bevy of concepts for the official car of this year's SEMA show plus all the accessories. Chevy has released a single teaser-style image of their 2008 SEMA show-bound Camaro Black, described only as "a dark and mysterious interpreta." We're pretty sure they meant "interpretation" but ran into character limitations in their imaging software. Regardless, the Camaro Black show car actually looks to be a gunmetal gray based on the photo and appears decked out with a sinister-looking body kit and the requisite SEMA monster alloy wheels shod in low-profile rubber. The red glow from the headlights may also indicate some sort of LED illumination kit, but what you see is all we know at this point; we'll either get a constant dribble of teasers a-la 2010 Mustang or just bring you the goods from the Vegas show floor in two weeks. galleryPost('camaroblacksema', 1, 'Camaro Black Is A Dark And Mysterious Interpreta');

Since the 2010 Chevy Camaro is the official vehicle of the 2008 SEMA show , GM has been hard at work readying special cars to show off new goodies from GM Performance Parts. Working with the GM Design Team on some "interesting twists," the builds of the hopped-up Camaros have been chronicled in these new teaser videos . We're not sure if the SEMA cars will be anything like Bumblebee's new look or the red work in progress we've seen before, but at least they won't be the standard Camaro that we've all seen plenty of already. Looks like the crew of Transformers 2 was caught on-set in Arizona at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base along with a couple of the more robotic cast members — albeit while in their vehicle mode get-ups. Based on the plates, it looks like we're also able to put a name to the bot who will be played by the Chevy Beat : Skids. Despite our best efforts, we couldn't decipher the plate on the Chevy Trax , but that's okay because the upgraded Chevy Camaro will still be Bumblebee, and that's the only one we really care about anyway. All you Camaro fanboys waiting to plan the option boxes you'll be checking when the car shows up in showrooms this spring, rejoice. Someone on the forums has leaked a list of standard and optional features available on all Camaro trim lines. From the looks of things, a "base" Camaro is a bit of a misnomer, as even the LS will get XM, Stabilitrak, 6-speaker audio and enough airbags to float the Titanic. Of course, the magic code is "1SS" which nets you the 6.2-liter V8 and, you know, a bunch of other unimportant stuff. Full breakdown after the jump. galleryPost('camarossprod', 6, 'The Magic of 1SS'); LS Standard Equipment - 3.6L SIDI V6 engine - Dual exhaust - 18-inch steel wheels - Onstar Safe & Sound - XM radio - Stabilitrak - 6 air bags: front, side and curtain - 6-speaker base audio system Optional Equipment - Floor mats 1LT Standard Equipment (includes or replaces LS equipment) - 18-inch aluminum Wheels - Fog lights - Driver Information Center...

We're already the first to have shown you Bumblebee's newly tarted-up aftermarket look (and again showing off that very newish nose and with Shia ), and now we're getting some better shots of his muscularly-modded bod sitting on the Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen set at White Sands AFB. We already know the look isn't any production trim level Chevy will be offering on the new Chevy Camaro, and thank goodness because it's certainly "special" looking. And — umm — that's really all there is to say about that. If you're interested, Transformers Live has some more galleries of some of the other vehicles (Optimus Prime, Ratchet and Ironhide) over there . galleryPost('BeeTF2Camaro', 6, 'Bumblebee Tuna Casserole');

The 2010 Chevy Camaro fans over at Camaro5 have snapped some shots of the factory accessories from the unveil of the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS this weekend that’ll be available for the new muscle car from the American Revolution. In addition to the usual chrome wheels and cold air intakes, there will be a range of — how should we say this? — less tasteful bolt-ons including a high wing, colored engine parts, ground effect bodykits and color-matched lighted interior trim pieces. The full list, courtesy of Camaro5 , follows the jump. Oh, and if the tarted-up red Camaro looks familiar, maybe it's because we've seen it once before . galleryPost('camaroaccessories', 4, '2010 Camaro Accessories'); LIST OF PERFORMANCE PARTS / ACCESSORIES - HUD will be available in June 2010 SOP (2011 MY) - molded rear fender splash guards will be avail - High wing spoiler (5 colors) and ground effects avail - Hood and Hockey stripe (3 colors) - Rally Stripe (5 colors) (according to Scott...all...

While we're excited for the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS , the reveal yesterday was rather undramatic, taking place at an event held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway called the 2008 IndyBash. Yeah, and as expected, it was filled with all sorts of surprises — like — um, OK, so there weren't any surprises. What should we expect from the reveal of the "SS" version of what may quite possibly be the most over-exposed and vehicle in the history of the automobile? Not much, wethinks. So, on that level, the reveal met expectations. But, if you're interested in seeing the car up close — again — for the umpteenth time — check out the gallery below. Many thanks to the folks at the Camaro5 forum for snapping all of them for your viewing pleasure. galleryPost('CamaroSSIndy', 12, 'Chevy Camaro SS Revealed At Indy'); [Photo Credit: Camaro5 ]

newVideoPlayer("/CamaroSSVetteZR1.flv", 494, 300,""); This is the first time we've seen both the 2010 Camaro SS and the 2009 Corvette ZR1 sharing track time, though the video leaves us a bit confused. Yes, the two look great together, and the V8 soundtrack isn't too bad either...except we only get to hear each of the cars sing solo. We were expecting to hear a roaring duet of muscle, but the audio has suspiciously been cut from those scenes. And, is it just us, or have some portions of the video been blatantly sped up? One of the more intriguing features of the concept version of the new Chevy Camaro 's interior was the "torque meter" on the four-gauge instrument cluster. Unfortunately, according to Popular Mechanics and now confirmed in a photo taken by Xeper, a forum fan-boy over at GMInsideNews , it's a feature that won't be making it from concept to 2010 Chevy Camaro production accessory. Popular Mechanics ' Ben Stewart made the claim first in his review of the pre-production Camaro concept last month: "The optional console mount gauges on Camaros we've seen before have included a "torque meter." This, we thought, was an odd choice for this valuable real estate. Well, apparently the engineers thought so too. Both prototypes had transmission temperature gauges in place of the torque meter. [Engineering Program Manager Anthony] McCormack says the torque meter is history." We can see from the shot up top the four gauges in the cluster are now oil pressure...

This photoshopped 2010 Chevy Camaro might be digitally wearing plates from the German tuning shop Hamann Motorsport, it's most assuredly not the real thing. Hamann spends a lot of time customizing the latest and greatest from the likes of BMW, Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini into highly-wound cars with names like "Hamann Flash," "Hamann Cyclone" and "Hamann Conquistador," but they're not so much known for tuning cars from Chevy. We think that's all going to change once they see this piece of work. OK, probably not, as this is actually just a poorly done p-shop from a deviant artist with the handle of Morfiuss . When not busy trying to prove Keanu Reeves is "The One," the Croatian p-shops cars — like this Camaro — that will never exist. Especially because everyone knows Hamann's really busy working on a Chevy Aveo for SEMA with a cat-back quad-piped exhaust. We hear they'll be calling it the "Hamann Budget."...
