The upcoming Audi RS5 has posed for a picture near the Nurburgring, strangely sporting quad pipes more reminiscent of the S-line cars rather than the dual ovals of the RS. And an S5 rear badge. The discrepancy is leading some to speculate that this is a mule using an S5 body — that or we've been misled about the engine offerings. Here are the first shots of the Audi R8 with all of that oilburning V12 TDi goodness you've been waiting for. Confirming the well supported rumors that we heard, the Audi R8 V12 TDI is all the power with slightly less of the petroleum depletion. As we thought, the V12 displaces six liters and produces 500 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque while still achieving a mileage of nearly 23 MPG (US/Highway). We've now got the official scoop and pics of the Audi TTS Roadster & Coupe that broke through the embargo shields on Tuesday, sans that horrible watermark from Motorpasîon . Confirming what we'd heard, the Audi's will get the more potent 2.0-liter Turbo FSI four banger good for 272 horsepower. This will give them a 0-62 time between 5.4 and 5.6 seconds for the coupe and roadster, respectively. Internet FTW! Spanish auto site Motorpasión posted the first press shots of Audi's more hardcore version of the latest TT, the long-awaited TTS coupe and roadster . The more potent TTS will allegedly get Audi's 2.0 TFSI four producing 272 hp, along with a choice of 17-or 18-inch wheels, altered bodywork and LED daytime lights. We'd imagine Audi reps are none too happy with the embargo break, and we wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the phrase "going out for tapas" takes on a very sinister connotation after this week. When all of those R8 mules started bursting into flames the blogosphere bit down pretty hard on a description from Quattro GmbH that they were packing V10 twin-turbo'd engines. We quickly posted a response from J.F. Musial claiming that we should expect anything but that V10 for the next R8. Thanks to an embargo break from Auto Motor und Sport , we now know that the R8 coming to Detroit will be featuring a V12 TDI turbodiesel. Booyah! It's good to be skeptical. We don't have the full details, because we don't communicate well in Ze German language, but it looks as though this "design study" produces a lot of power while consuming only a little fuel. Audi just revealed their gameplan for the Detroit Auto Show next month, and they're letting the world know they'll be seeing a "world first" and a "stunning concept car" from the Teutonic multi-ringed automaker. Our bet is we'll be seeing the Audi TT-S drop as the production car and our sources tell us we'll be seeing some form of an Audi R8 derivative as the concept. Let's call it an R8 V10 or an RS8 or -- something . We guess we'll just have to wait and see.
