  • Forbes Autos Drops Top Ten Luxury Cars for the Ladies [News]

Forbes Autos is up to the list-making again, giving us the top ten list of luxe cars with the primary driver being a woman. While not as sexy as the men's list, the vehicles are more practical and comfortable, and packed with a lot more Volvos. Interesting to note that our favorite Saturn designer, Miss Vicki Vlachakis is quoted in the story about quality, "I think women have such a good eye for detail, the attention to detail is really important on the interior; on all of the key driving interfaces such as the gauges, shifter area, steering wheel and seats." Yeah, what she said. We accidentally put Vicki's gallery below the fold, along with the Forbes list, cause after all, who the heck wants to sit through Forbes' boring traffic baiting when you can sit through ours? galleryPost('vickivlachakis', 6, 'Nearly Non Sequitur Vicki Vlachakis Gallery'); Forbes Top 10 Luxury Cars Driven by Women 10) Lexus IS350 9) Cadillac SRX 8) Land Rover Sport 7) Audi...
  • Audi Driver Kills Teen, Sues Dead Youth's Family Over Car Damage [News]

In what can only be called the worst case of AADS (Asshole Audi Driver Syndrome) ever recorded, Tomas Delgado, a Spanish businessman, is suing the family of a boy he killed while speeding in his Audi A8. The accident caused 14,000 Euros of damage to the all-aluminum luxury car, and Delgado is also looking to cover the additional 6,000 Euros in transportation costs he incurred while the Audi was in the shop. He argues that his 17-year-old victim, Enaitz Iriondo, who was wearing dark clothes while cycling at night, caused the damage while he was in the process of having his young life snuffed out by Delgago's hurtling death chariot. Quoting Mr. Delgado--and please restrain your urge to vomit here: "I'm also a victim in all of this, you can't fix the lad's problems, but you can fix mine." His lawyer, Beelzebub, Esq., offered no comment on the case, which will see an expected verdict on January 30 and perhaps witness the Earth open up to swallow Delgado whole. [via...
  • California Love: Audi Seeking to Go a Bit More "West Coast" [Industry News]

Scott Keogh, Audi of America's chief marketing officer says the multi-ringed brand all about precision's got an evolving style of luxury. Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, Keogh says at the moment there are two different kinds of luxury battling it out in the marketplace. The first is "old luxury...traditionally grounded in Europe. A Swiss watch. High quality. A traditional definition of prestige." Keogh claims the second is "new luxury" evoking a "West Coast" sensibility with "a more casual attitude, a sense of Zen and spirit and those types of things." So what's Audi going to do -- are they going to go more "East Coast" or "West Coast?" Well, it seems Audi says they'll be keeping the "old luxury" sense of "quality" while "bringing to life these new-age values coming mostly from the West Coast such as innovation and design." To get that message across, Audi...
  • Sheep Follow the Audi RS8 [News]

The automotive industry is controlled by a bunch of old grey-haired men sitting around board room tables in Germany or begging on a Detroit street corner because their homes are worth the same as a cardboard box. Oh yea...let's not forget Japan (that's for you Wert). These elderly men are the authorities in the major car corporations and when they say something, albeit important or not, every car blog and magazine not only runs with it but pimps it out until the next guy says something different. If you haven't figured this out yet, go read DUB Magazine. Take, for example, the recent news out from Quattro GmbH. Earlier this summer, several R8 mules were catching fire while under testing near or on the Nürburgring. The roll cages and testing habits immediately indicated that these R8s were the prototypes for what we will soon be calling the RS8. OMGHI2 to the internet rumor mill as we at Fast Lane Daily like to call it. Quattro GmbH director Wener Frowein recently revealed the...
  • News: Audi RS4 Production Ending Next Month

Sigh. Back in June we told you that the RS4 Sedan was going out of production . Then, later in June, we explained that actually, no, Audi would keep building the RS4. Today's news is a bit of clarification. In November of this year (2007) Audi will stop building the RS4 Sedan. The convertible and the motherluvin' Avant will cease production at some point in 2008. All of which means that for a good chunk of 2008, Audi will have nothing to compete against the M3, C63 or IS-F with. We sure hope they know what they're (R8) doing. [ autoblog.nl ]
