What's a dog-and-pony show without some kind of award? At this year's LA Auto Show they'll be awarding Green Car Journal 's fourth Green Car of the Year Award to one of five finalists. The competitors this year are the yet-to-be-unveiled 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, the BMW 335d , Saturn Vue 2-Mode Hybrid , Smart Fortwo and Volkswagen Jetta TDI . The winner will be announced at a November 20th press conference, and we know which one we'll be pulling for - the 2010 Ford Mustang . Complete details, if you're into that kind of thing, below. Exterior Design:** Whereas the previous generation had a distinct and attractive profile and front fascia, the current version is merely distinct. There are those that love it and those that hate it, but I think most people look at it as a Tonka Truck. However, if we gave points based on badge size the F-350 would get 4,000 stars. Interior Design:**** The inside of this particular model wasn't a bad place to be for the lengthy trips around Houston. Roomy? Oh yes. There leather seats are comfortable and the dash is well designed, with everything in the right place. Yet it still looks like a truck on the inside. The big, red 2008 Ford F-350 SuperDuty makes me think of a Terry Allen song called "Amarillo Highway." It features the line: I don't wear no Stetson, but I'm willing to bet son / that I'm as big a Texan as you are. When people find out where I'm from, they often say, "You don't sound like you're from Texas." I correct them by pointing out that I'm from Texas, not a cartoon about Texas. Common is the latest in a long line of rising or falling (ahem Flex ) hip-hop stars to endorse an SUV, in this case the 2008 Lincoln Navigator. There's generally nothing wrong with a rapper, even a conscious rapper, marketing an SUV. Mos Def once marketed a Denali and, you know what, the world didn't end. But there's something about this that bugs us. Common constantly shills for PETA and is now marketing a product that's more cow than steel? Let's hope he selects the faux-leather option. The 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt edition doesn't have quad camshafts or forty-eight valves in the cylinder heads. There is no turbocharger under the hood. The Mustang doesn't pack an eight speed twin-clutch super sequential transmission. Look closely at the turned aluminum 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt dash accent and observe that we are stuck in traffic. We called Delgetti to see if he could clear it up and cover the exits. Until then we fired up the sweet talking onboard navigation to guide us. 25 miles to go.

Well, we're just a week away from the LA Auto Show and the big n' muscular news for the show has got to be the new 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt edition, which will be revealed there. Now we've already shown you the teaser image Ford released two weeks ago for the 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt, as well as the purported performance details and of course we showed you the spy shot taken in Northern California yesterday. Now we've got a high-res shot of the Bullitt-ridden muscle car teaser photo from two weeks ago, and we're prepared to share it with you for your desktop pleasure. If Ford's "Hi, I'm Dave" design language has created a Gillette-like lineup of Ford products, then the new 2008 Ford Focus is the most disposable of the family. From the tip of the dual-bar chrome grille, along a set of faux side vents all the way to the high rear end and large badge letters spelling its name, the formerly plain and simple Focus has adopted an unspeakable tawdriness. Maybe that was why I spent my three days with the Focus largely in the driver's seat. Not that it's a bad place to be. The thrifty Ford now bristles with enough new features and toys to distract from its looks.
