In case the word didn't get out, it's convertible day at BMW. First they throw down with the new BMW M3 Convertible , and then they show their ace card the new 2009 BMW 1-Series Convertible . The littlest BMW is sporting a hot new powered drop-top and the teeming masses are all over it like gooey French cheese. Seriously, It took 15 minutes to hack away at the crowd to get decent pictures. Anyway, as expected, the top drops away silently and smoothly into the trunk leaving about as much space as you need for a day bag. galleryPost('1seriesverttop', 6, 'BMW 1-Series Convertible');galleryPost('1seriesvertgeneva', 6, 'BMW 1-Series Convertible'); The models were kind enough to run it up and down for us a couple of times and it seems to work well. The interior is same as on the current car, but the headliner is a strange stretchy cloth that does the job of covering up the top's inner workings. Ever feel like you need to have the wind in your hair while pulling 8,000 RPM powerslides in your BMW M3? Well now you can with the addition of the BMW M3 Convertible. The sleek and speedy vert has been unveiled after a long rumor mill process and the swiftly shifting hardtop is here to show the goods. One could barely fit a golf club in the trunk, let alone many golf clubs, so many in fact to necessitate the use of a golf bag. We dig that sporty body work and the lusty power train, but come on, if we can't get two golf bags at least , we just can't even imagine putting up with this car.

We've been saying for years the only efficient hybrid with current technology is one mated to a diesel engine, and now it looks like another automaker is jumping into the conceptual fray. Our little news yesterday on the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics X5 -- translated from Bruce, that appears to be an X5 outfitted with a 2.0-liter twin turbo common rail diesel mild hybrid (wow, that's a mouthful, ain't it?) -- appears to be wholly true. BMW will be revealing this little concept in environmentally friendly CUV-ing at the Geneva Motor Show next month and they've now seen fit to reveal the rest of their press shots and the full press release, which we've got below the jump. Feel free to read through it if you're suffering from a strong desire to fall back into bed. For now, here's the gist of it -- hybrid + diesel + BMW = Over 100 HP per liter (total of 204 HP), 295 lb-ft of torque between 2000 and 2500 RPM. Exciting, isn't it? galleryPost('BMWVisionX5Geneva'...
