Sometimes you look at the price of a car for sale and you ask yourself, "Is that a pretty good deal, or would I have to be smoking the rock to pay that much?" That's what Nice Price Or Crack Pipe is all about, and we're going to follow up yesterday's high-buck factory-racer '63 Pontiac - which 65% of you felt went for way too much green- with another Detroit classic. This time it's a super-cherry 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis, a car with just 4,054 miles on the clock. This has got to be the nicest '78 Grand Marquis in the world, and it's got all the options: 460 engine, power everything, cruise control, even the 8-track player. But fifteen grand? Here's Nice Price Or Crack Pipe once again, the day after the Opel GT Batmobile made NPOCP history! You see, for the first time we've got the majority of voters opting for the Nice Price side of the poll; admittedly, the voting is 173 to 172 at the time of this writing, but that's still a win for the BatmOpel! Today we've got another machine that might present something of a dilemma; the original 351 Cleveland/4-speed combo makes it cool, as do the factory hubcaps and the fact that it's always been a camper… but a Buy It Now of $12,500? Remember that 3-Series BMW with a V12 swap? We liked that car quite a bit, but now we've found one of the cleanest engine-swapped BMWs yet, and for some incomprehensible reason nobody wanted to buy it for $24,000! It's got a Chevy small-block stroked to 427 cubes and equipped with all manner of hop-up madness (including a carburetor, which is why this car isn't a 570 i ), a Tremec 5-speed, and a Jaguar/Porsche/BMW rear suspension with outboard brakes. Most of us Norteamericaños imagine a cheap, zippy 124 or 128 when we think of early-70s Fiats, so the luxurious Fiat 130 coupe appears to come from an alternate universe (in which, perhaps, the Vega and Pinto managed to compete with their Japanese rivals). It packs a snarling 160-horse DOHC V6 under the hood, as befits a car that manages to get away with a red velour interior without looking ridiculous. Those of you who believed El Suburbanimo to be the ultimate New Jersey vehicle might want to reconsider after you take a look at this '73 Datsun 240Z. Back in the early 80s, with just 19,721 miles on the Z's clock, its owner decided some custom touches were in order. It tells you something about the wrath of numbers-matching/date-coded Mopar fanatics that the seller of this '71 Challenger station wagon feels compelled to start off his description with the statement: "Not orig anymore and has not been since 1973 so # guys get over it. So no emailing me telling me its not correct and I should put it back orig to me its worthless that way as it would look like any other challenger out there." This thing would be cool enough simply as an E-body wagon, but it has an Olds Vista Cruiser roof! Potrzebie!
