Those of you who believed El Suburbanimo to be the ultimate New Jersey vehicle might want to reconsider after you take a look at this '73 Datsun 240Z. Back in the early 80s, with just 19,721 miles on the Z's clock, its owner decided some custom touches were in order. A little body kit here, some stripes and TURBO emblems there, and then the finishing touch: a small-block Chevy engine. It's awesome! BZR found this gem for us; make the jump to read his description. [eBay Motors] galleryPost('TimeCapsule80sZ', 9, '80s Time Capsule Datsun Z on eBay'); Like a time warp straight out of the 70s, with every optimistic Malaise-denying piece on there. Every angle induces another "Oh my God" reaction, every feature seems like some unholy caricature of a kitsch utopia. Makes "Black Gold" look restrained and tasteful by comparison, and pretty much every other 70s special edition seem subdued as a result. If you're featuring this car on Jalopnik (and...

Those tiny 14" wheels that Chrysler put on the Volare? Pizza cutters! Shopping-cart wheels! Try adding another ten inches of diameter to a Volare's wheels and you'll finally fill up those unsightly wheelwells, as we can can see in this '76. You need to keep the air shocks fully inflated in order to keep rear wheel scrapage to almost-tolerable levels, and there appears to be about 3/4" of space between the fronts and the wheelwells... but just look at it! Thanks to LTDScott, Porcubimmer Pilot for the tip! [ Craigslist Stockton , go here if ad disappears]

Lots of folks saw the junked '78 Dodge Magnum the other day and thought "What the heck is that thing?" But there's a man in Kansas City who knows his Magnums... knows them so well, in fact, that he understood the essential need to add Charger Daytona-style wings to two of them. And, crazily enough, they look way better than the mental image one gets from hearing the description "'78 Magnum With Daytona/Superbird wing." Thanks to David for the photos; make the jump to read his description of these fine classic automobiles. galleryPost('MagnumDaytonas', 5, 'Magnum Daytonas, Kansas City Style'); There's a guy here in Kansas City with three Magnums. Two of them have the elusive Superbird wing styling option. I've never been able to track down the owner. He parks on top of the garage to preserve the awesomeness. He has the yellow one, the silver one, and then a bondo'n'primer beater he drives infrequently.

The last time we set foot in the Hell That Is Project, the blown Kaiser Manhattan just barely beat the blown VW Corrado , showing that heartbreaking dilemmas can be fun! For today, I wanted to pick a couple of glitz-heavy high-roller machines , but there's something important missing from all the ones I could find for sale. Yes, what your Excalibur, Johnson Phantom, Zimmer Golden Spirit, or Tiffany really needs is a Hemi! And not one of these here newfangled 426 Hemis. We're talking about a genuine 392 engine (check out Allpar's history of the Chrysler Hemi if you're in the mood for a good read). That way you'll combine excellent taste in automobile styling with an engine that bellows "High Roller Approaching!" to the world. For a project like this, you want to have some hardware sticking through a big hole in the hood of your blingwagon, and it goes without saying that you want the engine to breathe freely all the way up to 7,000 RPM (just in case your entourage...
