Since we had a DOTS Traction-Avant this morning, let's stay in a Citroën state of mind by checking out this ID19 I found in an East Bay self-service junkyard over the weekend. Belvedere Adrian ran across this 47-year-old French wagon while scavenging for parts for the race car and figured I'd be interested. Interested? I was on the Nimitz Freeway about 45 seconds later! galleryPost('DOTJID19', 6, '1961 Citroen ID19 Down On The Junkyard'); The ID19 was a less expensive version of the luxurious DS, developed as a replacement for the Traction-Avant. This one's been picked over pretty thoroughly (I suspect that Henry Hanzel , who can smell a Citroën from the next county, got here first), but the emblem was still on the tailgate. And now it's on my Civic! My poor Honda had all its emblems pried off (no doubt by roving bands of Honda hoodlums) while living in San Francisco, so it needed some new ones. I contemplated swapping the Citroën one-spoke steering wheel...

Remember the 1967 Mercury Cougar we saw down on the Alameda street , just a little over a week ago? Well, I was shopping for some race-car pieces at an Oakland self-service junkyard yesterday when I spotted a primer-black Cougar that looked very familiar. Yes, just weeks after this 41-year-old car had been holding the Mercury flag high, that mean ol' tow truck hauled it away (I took the photographs in late July). I suspect the car was bought by the owner of the beater '68 Mustang as a parts car and then scrapped after being picked over like a leftover Thanksgiving turkey. Make the jump to see all the photos, before and after. galleryPost('DOTJDOTSCougar', 3, '1967 Mercury Cougar Pauses En Route From Street To Crusher'); galleryPost('DOTS67CougPrimer', 24, '1967 Mercury Cougar In Happier Times');

We like to see a sampling of junkyard wares from around the world, and Slantsick has added to our Rusty Iron Grand Tour by photographing some of the more interesting vehicles at C.I.A. Salvage of Limerick, Maine. Make the jump to see the whole gallery and read Slantsick's list of vehicles. galleryPost('DOTJSlantsickMaine', 3, 'Old Cars And Trucks Down On The Maine Junkyard'); Pics taken at C.I.A. Remember that Rambler engine block that was so much fun to identify last week? That wasn't the only shot I got of the Crusher-bound '64 Rambler American; in fact, that wrecking yard currently has two Ramblers (in the Ford section). This one still has plenty of good pieces (well, it had them last week, when I took these photos), so let's hope that more than just the cylinder head gets rescued for use in surviving cars. galleryPost('DOTJ64Rambler', 12, '1964 Rambler American 330 Down On The Junkyard');

Hyperocky 's DOTS '67 Ford XL 2-door hardtop looks great, but we must remember that not all big Fords of its era are quite so nice these days. Plenty of beat-to-hell examples manage to clank along for decades before their date with The Crusher's jaws, as was the case with this extremely rough '66 I spotted at an East Bay wrecking yard last weekend. It appears that the dashboard and quite a few interior bits have been salvaged, so at least some of this Ford will live on in other cars. galleryPost('DOTJ66Galaxie', 12, '1966 Ford Galaxie Down On The Junkyard');

Not long after undertw rescued a bunch of parts from a Volvo Amazon featured in this series, another old Volvo has been put out on the same yard. This is no run-of-the-mill Amazon, however- we're looking at a genuine Volvo 1800S (I'm going to say it's a '63, based on the grille) with plenty of good components ready for the picking. galleryPost('DOTJVolvo1800', 9, '1963 Volvo 1800S Down On The Junkyard');

A few weeks back, we saw a reasonably complete looking 1964 Volvo Amazon in an East Bay wrecking yard , and the outpouring of grief- particularly from European readers- was heart-rending. How could such a nice Amazon be treated like some dime-a-dozen Excel or Taurus? How? Well, nobody saved the whole car, but a Jalopnik reader emailed me for the location of the yard and then proceeded to drive five hours each way in the hope that his recently wrecked Amazon might get some front body parts. Make the jump to read his story: galleryPost('AmazonResurrection', 4, 'Junked 1964 Amazon Donates Parts For Wreck Victim'); Thanks again for disclosing the location. I wasn't able to make the trip until Tuesday the 25th of March. I was taking a big risk making a 236 mile drive, but it paid off. Luckily, it was there waiting for me. They were clearing out the 2 rows next to it. The forklift driver told me he was taking it to be crushed the next day. What luck, and it even had almost...

After seeing a Peugeot , a Triumph , and a BMW down on the junkyard, we're going to return to good ol' Detroit Iron today. This '68 Olds Delmont 88 convertible still has plenty of good parts, including the no-doubt-hard-to-find convertible-top gear, which probably fits many other full-sized GM convertibles. The Delmont was made for only two years, and its claim to fame was as the car Teddy Kennedy drove off the Chappaquiddick Bridge . Make the jump for an additional gallery. galleryPost('JunkDelmont88Top', 6, '1968 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 Down On The Junkyard Part 1'); galleryPost('JunkDelmont88Jump', 9, '1968 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 Down On The Junkyard Part 2');

I violated my "No Emblem Clutter" policy last week, when I found this Malaisetastic Caddy V8-6-4 emblem at the junkyard, and now I've fallen off the wagon again. It is not possible for me to discover a junked '68 Peugeot with an "Automatique" emblem and not dredge up $2.99 for the thing. I have no idea what I'll do with it, but for now it shall live on my office bulletin board.

We saw a 1970s Peugeot in an East Bay self-service wrecking yard last week, and now it's time for us to see a Peugeot from the 1960s as it offers up its components for other, still running Peugeots. Of course, I can't tell you where these other 404s might be, since I haven't seen one on an American street since... uh... ever . But someone has purchased the trunk off this one, which means there's at least one more example out there! Make the jump for additional junkyardly gallery goodness. galleryPost('DOTSBEPeugeot404Top', 6, 'Peugeot 404 Down On The Junkyard Part 1'); galleryPost('DOTSBEPeugeot404Jump', 13, 'Peugeot 404 Down On The Junkyard Part 2');

Big, heavy-duty trucks usually manage to evade The Crusher's jaws for more years than most cars, but eventually some expensive problem or accumulation of parking tickets catches up with the best of them. Such is the case with this 1968 Jeep Gladiator J-3000 pickup, which I photographed at a local wrecking yard last weekend. The junkyard marked it as a 1968 model (and an "AMC Commando" as well), but I believe it's actually a '66. Check out that AMC 327 engine, which is not to be confused with the Chevy engine of the same displacement. galleryPost('JunkGladiatorTop', 6, '1968 Jeep Gladiator Down On The Junkyard Part 1'); galleryPost('JunkGladiatorJump', 20, '1968 Jeep Gladiator Down On The Junkyard Part 2');

I've been hitting the junkyard even more than usual lately, as the Black Metal V8olvo is always hungry for cheap parts. One particular East Bay self-service yard has a lot of old Volvos , including an Amazon... and now it has two Amazons at the same time! This '64 still has plenty of good parts, including those godawful SU carbs that made MGB ownership so much fun for me. galleryPost('Junkyard64Amazon', 9, '1964 Volvo Amazon Awaits The Crusher');

Big four-door 60s Chrysler products (such as the '66 Monaco we saw recently ) aren't really worth a lot of money these days, so when that 318 or 383 finally gets a death rattle... well, that sound often means a one-way ride to the Final Parking Lot. This 1965 Dodge 880 hung in there longer than most, but now it's a parts donor (right next to a '79 Magnum ) Make the jump for a second gallery. galleryPost('Junkyard65Polara880Top', 6, '1965 Dodge Polara Awaits The Crusher Part 1'); galleryPost('Junkyard65PolaraJump', 8, '1965 Dodge Polara Awaits The Crusher Part 2');

After two consecutive days of old Junkyard Find Dodges, we might as well see yet another one. It's a sign of how many 60s Chrysler A-bodies were manufactured (and how rugged they were) that you see more of them in the junkyard today than you do, say, 20-year-old Hyundai Excels. This one is a bit new to have the pushbutton shifter, but it's still packed with parts that will no doubt live on in another Dart, Valiant, or Barracuda. galleryPost('Junk66DartTop', 6, 'End of the Line For 1966 Dart Part 1'); galleryPost('Junk66DartJump', 10, 'End of the Line For 1966 Dart Part 2');

The junkyard is fun (and our wannabe 24 Hours of LeMons car hungers for parts), so I'm going to follow up the Junked Opel GT with the latest interesting find at an East Bay self-service wrecking yard: this 1966 Dodge Monaco. It's got a big-block (feel free to decode the build tag and tell us whether it's a 361 or 383, Mopar lovers) and still showing a sense of style even as it awaits its final ride. Make the jump to see even more photos. galleryPost('Junk66MonacoTop', 6, 'Junked 1966 Dodge Monaco Part 1'); galleryPost('Junk66MonacoJump', 15, 'Junked 1966 Dodge Monaco Part 2');
