    Fiat

    April 30th, 2008 by Shenron

Giovanni Agnelli was the father of Fiat, having brought it to life in 1899 with a few investors, and led the company until he died in 1945; the other big name in the company was Vittorio Valletta who was basically the manager of all the company, being the man on the ground if you will.

Within a decade Fiat had become the largest automotive manufacturer in all of Italy and has maintained that exact claim ever since, the company turns 110 in two years. By the 20’s Fiats share of the market in Italy was almost 80% if not more, and it seemed nothing could stop the company. However Agnelli quit in 1921 after 1921, when workers held a revolutionary type demonstration by taking over all the plants and waving red communist flags over them - he told the workers they could run the company themselves. Within a year over three thousand of them came to Agnelli and begged him to return, which after much consideration he did so. The workers did not fare well running the company Agnelli founded.

In 1923 the largest car manufacturing plant in Europe was opened for Fiat, and it employed thousands, and also was the first European plant to use assembly lines rather than craftsmanship on each and every car. Unfortunately the company was commandeered by the Italian military in the Second World War to make war machines, and then later after the war they removed Agnelli and his family from Fiat because of the Fascist government control tainting him. Agnelli passed away soon after, and his grandson was not allowed to be a part of the company until some nearly twenty years later in 1966.

His grandson Gianni Agnelli completely reorganized the company and made it decentralized in management rather than centralized as it once was, thus allowing it to respond more effectively. Fiat started acquiring other automotive manufacturers in the 90’s, these included Alfa Romeo, Maserati and a few others.

    Yokohama Tires

    April 30th, 2008 by Shenron

Yokohama Tires are manufactured by the Yokohama Rubber Co. and have been around since 1917, and has expanded to the United States. Later on the company expanded their Yokohama tires to Australia and more locations across the world.

Their ability to expand and continue to gain market share from the beginning along with their mostly good track record with the environment has made Yokohama tires quite popular. They also recently won (2-27-2008) a court case involving importations of counterfeit tires in Japan, which will ultimately prove to bolster their quality name.

Shop for Yokohama tires at The Tire Rack.

In the late nineties Yokohama plants began to get their ISO certifications, which means that they meet quality standards that many others do not; it also insures that Yokohama tires are of a higher quality than non ISO corporations and that their tires are safer on the road as well. In the most recent years Yokohama tires have begun construction in newer facilities that are also ISO certified and have been expanding into China for production in the booming Chinese auto markets and European markets.

This expansion was again bolstered via policy in their latest management plan called the “Grand Design 100″. So if you’re in the market for a quality tire, you might look into a Yokohama tire.

  • The International World of Formula One Racing

The International World of Formula One Racing

    April 29th, 2008 by Shenron

The list of racetracks Formula One racing currently has ultimately makes it an international sport.

Since 1991, the Circuit De Catalunya from Spain has been a part of Formula One. Its length underwent changes through the years. In Melbourne Australia, the Alberta Park Grand Prix Circuit was built and has been established as an F1 racetrack since 1998. In here, Michael Schumacher held the titles for the fastest Pole Position and the fastest lap time, which were both set in 2004. Meanwhile, Malaysia currently houses the Sepang International circuit, which has been an F1 circuit in 2001. Michael Schumacher again held the fastest Pole Position while Juan Pablo Montoya grabbed the title for the fastest lap. The newest addition to the growing list of F1 race circuits is the Bahrain International Circuit. It hosted its first race in 2006 wherein Michael Schumacher again bagged the fastest Pole Position while Nico Rosberg got the fastest lap.

The most dangerous and famous race circuit, the Circuit de Monaco, have been a part of Formula One racing for 51 years. The most recent race it housed was last 2006. In Montreal Canada, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has been a part of F1 racing since 1978. In 2004, Ralf Schumacher held the fastest Pole Position title while Rubens Barrichello held the title for fastest lap time. From 2000-2007, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been a part of F1 racing circuits where Rubens Barrichello held the title for fastest lap again alongside the fastest Pole Position. France has also been part of F1 racing by hosting the said event in Circuit de Nevers - Magny-Cours since 1991. In here, Fernando Alonso gained the title for the fastest Pole Position while Michael Schumacher again made a name for himself by getting the title for fastest lap time.

In Great Britain, the Silverstone Circuit hosted F1 racing since 1950. In a race held here in 2004, Kimi Raikkonen held the title for fastest Pole Position while Michael Schumacher went for the fastest lap. In the same year, Schumacher bagged the titles fro-fastest lap and fastest Pole Position in the F1 racing held at Nurburgring found in Germany. This has been a Formula One race circuit since 1951. In Hungary, F1 racing started in 1986 and was held in Hungaroring where Michael Schumacher held both titles for fastest Pole Position and lap time. Meanwhile, only one F1 race has been held in Otodrom Istanbul Park in Turkey and in the said event, Felipe Massa was named as the race champion while Michael Schumacher once again recorded the fastest lap time. In contrast, Italy has been a part of F1 racing since 1950 and held races at the Autodromo Nazionale Di Monza.

For 22 years, Circuit de Spa Francorchamps in Belgium has been part of F1 racing from 1983 up to 2005. In here, Kimi Raikkonen held the fastest lap time in 2004 while Michael Schumacher bagged the fastest Pole Position in 2002. In China, the Shanghai International Circuit housed the F1 race event from 2004 to 2006. Meanwhile, seven F1 races were held in Brazil most specifically in Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace where Rubens Barrichello again dominated by getting the fastest Pole Position in 2004 while Juan Pablo Montoya got the fastest lap time title also on the same year.

  • Remington Tires

    Remington Tires

    April 29th, 2008 by Shenron

Founded in 1924 Remington Tires have grown substantially since then. Although considered a small manufacturing firm, Remington Tires offers a wide variety of tire stiles, from luxury touring tires to medium truck radials. Remington Tires attempts and succeeds at creating tires for the modern car enthusiast, such as those for sport trucks and for tuner cars with many aspect ratios.

    Remington Tires

Most tires come with excellent warranties, such as the XT-120 tire. The tire has a 45 thousand mile warranty and is considered one of the best Remington Tires available. Remington Tire’s Emerald LX is a luxury tire that when rated, can have an 80,000 mile tread ware warranty, one of the largest I have personally seen. They’re purportedly computer designed and have a highly tested performance rating.

Remington Tires also provides many mud and snow tire models, capable of keeping traction in the worst of conditions. Remington SUV tires are highly rated and come with 50,000 mile + tread ware warranties, and are guaranteed to last, many with a free replacement policy. So far one of their popular tires are the “Brute” series, being able to outlast and to excel in tough conditions. They are mostly built for adverse driving conditions, to downright insane conditions. They also come with warranties that are quite amazing and show the companies trust and confidence in their products.

  • Vehicle Tires

    Vehicle Tires

    April 29th, 2008 by Shenron

There are many different vehicles in our fast paced modern world, and many different vehicle tires.  For example, a vehicle that is large, bulky, and needs a good amount of weight support wouldn’t use a vehicle tire made for… lets say… a Honda accord.

Although vice versa does occur, with a large vehicle tire going onto a small car - this is usually found in the Southern United States and the Mid-Western united states for such auto sports as mud flopping and extreme vehicle rock climbing. These vehicle tires are on smaller vehicles that are not intended to use them, and it presents a torque ratio problem that may require transmission modification.

Other vehicle tires may go on something as small as a forklift and as big as those gigantic earth movers with tires bigger than my three story house.  There are new vehicle tires that can run for up to sixty miles while flat, and some that never go flat because they have no air.

There are other vehicle tires that are used in drag racing that have no tread, and are instead very bald and become sticky at high temperatures. Some early ideas for trains even involved the rubber tire, but they were ultimately dropped.

  • Car Tire Sales

    Car Tire Sales

    April 29th, 2008 by Shenron

If you’re looking for deals at car tire sales around your location, it might be a good idea to read the paper, or check on the internet.  Internet forums have become a great place to check for car tire sales, along with just browsing around stores that you know or even calling your local mechanic.  If you’re willing to drive for a better deal and live near a larger city your chances of finding a better car tire sale is much higher.

Be sure to remember at these car tire sales that you should check the quality of the tires themselves, included warranties, and how reputable the dealer is.  You don’t want to go to a bunch of car tire sales and only get ripped.  Remember to cross-check the prices too, as the lowest is obviously the goal - but always keep quality in mind.  Also try searching the car tire’s SKU to make sure there isn’t a recall - as getting recalled tires at a car tire sale would be extremely unfortunate, and possibly dangerous.

    Can anyone say “Firestone”?

You don’t want to be driving along and have sudden tread separation - trust me - it is not fun.  Anyways when you’re going to these car tire sales just be smart and collected.

    Lisbon Car Salon 2008

    April 29th, 2008 by Shenron

The Lisbon car salon was again a great success!

A few new cars have been introduced and the pictures are hotter than ever.

Here’s the photo gallery we’ve chosen from the best we’ve seen at the expo.

Check the new models (I mean the cars, of course, not the girls), use them as your PC desktop wallpaper, print them, give them to friends, whatever, but enjoy! :)

  • F1 Racing Through The Years

    F1 Racing Through The Years

    April 29th, 2008 by Shenron

Formula One is considered to be the premier motor sport from over the past century until recent times. It has fans in 200 countries all over the world, in different race circuits. It dates back from its roots–the European Grand Prix racing.

Although auto racing dates far back before the war period, the first ever Formula One World championship was not held until 1950. This is because racing has been suspended during the onset of World War II. During the first F1 championship, Giuseppe Farina won the first ever F1 Championship title at Silverstone, England. In its early years, the Formula One championship title was only given to racecar drivers. It was not until 1958 that an additional championship title for constructors has also been given and since then, separate awards are being given to the driver and the constructor.

2 Beautiful GirlsSitting on a Formula 1 Car

A point system is used to determine who gets the World Champion title for F1 racing. The top eight drivers along with their respective teams in every Grand Prix receive corresponding points determined by their positions as they finished the race. The leading driver and team each receive 10 points while the following drivers and winners get 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1 point. Since 2 cars are allowed to be entered in an F1 race, a team may receive two sets of different points if both of their cars make it to the top eight to finish. The driver and the team with the highest points are announced as the World Champions. In case there’s a tie in points, the winner is determined by having the most number of wins gained by the driver or the team during the season.

At present, Formula One racing and World Championship racing are considered as interchangeable terms. World Championship racing have always abided by the rules similar to that of Formula One racing. But prior to 1984, there were a few races in F1 racing which were not recognized in the World Championship racing. But the need to increase in expense eventually rose from participating in F1 racing and this in turn resulted in a difficulty to compete in non-world championship events. As recorded, the last non-championship event happened in 1983.

Technological innovations have consequently increased Formula One racing expenses. In addition, major players in auto manufacturing have also started to sponsor F1 World Championships since 1984. As expenses increased, independent F1 teams struggled to keep up with the technological advancements without the help of sponsors. Unfortunately, financial stress eventually leads to the loss of twenty-eight F1 teams. Formula One is indeed an expensive and exclusive sport, which also presently serves as a venue for big marketing competitions. Auto manufacturers also began to enter the competition by creating their own teams, which in turn replaced the loss of the independent ones.

Today, the Federation of International Automobile (FIA) regulates and supervises F1 racing. Formula One racing’s season spans from early spring until fall. Races are held from Europe up to China, Australia, and Brazil. The 2007 F1 racing even listed 17 races around the world for its season. The future of Formula One racing proves to be as solid as promising as it used to be years back when it first started. It continues to grow and reach out to different places and audiences from all over the world.

  • Minivan Tires

    Minivan Tires

    April 28th, 2008 by Shenron

Minivan Tires are essentially the same as normal passenger car tires, however it is advisable to shop around for tires that can be used as minivan tires first. You wouldn’t want to have a tire that could not handle the weight of a minivan. Thus it is always good to ask, even if you don’t want to. Also be sure you account for your budget and what your mechanic would recommend for minivan tires.

    Dunlop Tire Rebate

Anyway, minivan tires should be inspected the same as any normal car tire, check the tread with a penny to make sure the tread is viable (or else you will go slip sliding all over the place) and check your tire pressure often. It’s best to drive safely in a minivan with good tires than with over-filled or under-filled tires. One of the risks of having weak tires, worn tires, or just plain crappy tires is that your minivan tires could experience a blowout on the road and that could result in injury, death, or really high repair costs for your car. Consider getting “noflat” tires for your minivan tires rather than some cheapies that will bald faster than Captain Picard. No offence to Trekkies intended.

  • Discount Car Tires

    Discount Car Tires

    April 28th, 2008 by Shenron

Discount car tires might seem like a very good way to save money, and by all means they may very well be. But before you buy discount car tires, you should make sure that they are legitimate tires. There should still be a manufacturer’s warranty, current information available, and they should have no visible signs of wear on them. Additionally you should shop from a well known brand when it comes to discount car tires, and be sure that they are discounted because they are overstocked or are being cleared out - not defective.

    TIRERACK.com - Revolutionizing Tire Buying

Many discount car tires in smaller shops with no paperwork or warranties may be faulty and in the end should the tire fail, it will be up to you to pay the bill, whether that bill is for a wrecked car, a large medical payment, or a funeral. It is absolutely imperative that if you are looking for discount car tires that you shop smart, and know what you are buying, and have proof that the discount car tires are from a reputable manufacturer, and have not been recalled or damaged. Also be aware that discount car tires may not be the best idea for your car, as often times car tires are discounted in winter, when those types are no longer useful. If you are planning ahead, by all means get them, but if you plan to drive in very icy or snowy conditions with them, it is not recommended.
