Spy photographers have caught the interior in clear view of the new BMW 5 Series for first time. Even with a significant amount of specially cut foam padding used to disguise the instrument panel and center console from prying eyes, we can still make out some new details. The i-Drive controller is placed on the right side of the gear lever, and similar to Audi's MMI interface, there are additional navigation/function buttons surrounding the controller. Also similar to Audi are the new buttons and scroll wheels on the totally new steering wheel. Sitting at the base of the gear selector console is a big button with a “(P)” for the electronic parking brake. The shape of the dashboard is also brand new, although the two circular recesses on the passenger side are fake as well as the old i-Drive controller location. The real deal is more like, you guessed it, the Audis. Keyless-go, active suspension, improved night vision, head-up display and a bigger sat nav screen are all features that...

New Seat Ibiza hatchback hasn’t even gone on sale in the UK, and already the Spanish car maker is showing off the three-door version- the Seat Ibiza SportCoupe. The Seat Ibiza SportCoupe has a unique profile – designed under the watchful eye of ex-Lamborghini design chief Luc Donckerwolke – and the first application of the VW Group's seven-speed DSG semi-automatic gearbox. The Seat Bocanegra was one of the stars of the 2008 Geneva motor show - but even so, few expected the Spanish manufacturer to put the car in production, relatively unchanged Despite the lower profile, the SportCoupe still offers adequate headroom up front – although taller drivers might struggle – and a reasonable boot. At 284 litres it's far from the biggest, but swallowed two small suitcases and a laptop bag easily on our test drive. Seat also revealed a pair of hot hatches will go on sale next year: FR and Cupra, which will both feature the VW Group's 1.4-litre TSI engine. This boasts a turbocharger and...

The brand’s epiphany will take place from this model. During an interview with Auto Bild, Jerome Gallix, design manager for the Peugeot brand, reveals moves to revive company heritage with a new family. The first to debut will be a re-edition of the of 504 coupé , originally designed by Pininfarina in 1969. The rendering, supplied by the manager, confirms the news. This top range two door, according to the first reconstructions, will have a similar length to the 407 coupé , while engines and technological (air suspension first up), will be inherited from the C5. We also remind you that Gallix has presided over the lines of the 308 RC-Z, a muscular guarantee. Other news give some more substance to the romanticism of the idea, with the designer claiming “I’m an admirer of the old 204 and 205, and I don’t exclude the possibility of examining them, in such a way as to lower the average CO2 emissions of the Peugeot range.” © Source: eurocarblog We need your comments below >>

The Focus RS will be equipped with a tweaked version of the turbocharged Duratec 2.5-liter inline-five found in the ST, and will send between 280 and 300 hp, along with 300+ lb.-ft. of torque, through the front wheels via a six-speed gearbox equipped with a Quaife limited-slip differential. With that kind of power, the RS should be able to make the run to 60 in less than six seconds – assuming you don't torque-steer yourself into a tree in the process. The dynamic body kit, complete with gaping maw, flared fenders, side sills, rear diffuser and wing, and unfortunate fender vents, compliments the lowered ride height, 19-inch, 15-spoke wheels and upgraded brakes. Inside, color-matched, two-tone Recaro thrones join an RS -specific instrument cluster and smaller diameter steering wheel. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

(from Lamberti) Launched at the Harrogate show, the Lamberti LS1 is the product of much hard work and dedication, a race ready design for road use that is stunning to look at from any angle, and we will ensure that it will be even more stunning to drive. Jaguar ’s restyled version of the slow-selling sedan. In this chapter, long-running Brit traditions are tossed in the dustbin and replaced with a design inspired by the company’s new style indicator, the XF . Sales in the U.S. are circling the loo. Now that Indian conglomerate Tata owns Jag, the company will need fresh models to spice up the brand. Platform: The lightweight aluminum structure of the current XJ soldiers on with only minor changes to accommodate the new body. Powertrain: New direct-injection versions of the existing Jaguar V-8 engine. Base versions should make 350 horsepower. The supercharged engine is bumped to 5.0 liters and 500 horsepower. New looks could turn off stuffy traditionalists, whereas potential converts might not even notice. Also, the uncertainty surrounding Jaguar ’s long-term future could undermine sales. Production is to begin at the end of 2009 with an on-sale date at the start of 2010. Pricing should remain in line with the current XJ’s, at $65,000 to...

No more spy pics, no more renderings, the first official images of the all new BMW 7-Series have leaked onto the web and who are we to hold them back from you. The official unveiling isn't until next week, but perhaps this may spur BMW into action sooner. Very little was left to the imagination regarding the exterior design, recent prototypes have sported only light camouflage and a recent teaser poster caught at a golf tournament showed the CS inspired headlights. We see from these leaked images, both the front and rear lights will get LEDs and the interior shows us a first glimpse of the updated i-Drive system. Of course we will bring you full details as soon as they surface, but enjoy these photos in the meantime. © Source: worldcarfans We need your comments below >>

Do you own a TT but hanker after an R8 ? If so, Siegen-based tuner B&B has the answer. Yes, why bother trading up when you can transform your TT into this?! OK, so the B&B TT is no looker - but the engine stats make interesting reading. With various inlet, exhaust and turbo modifications, B&B has squeezed 362bhp out of the 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder engine. The result is a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds - the same as an R8 - and a top speed of 175mph. That's 12mph shy of Audi 's supercar. Adjustable suspension is also fitted, as are a set of 20-inch wheels. © Source: topgear We need your comments below >>

(from Andrei Avarvarii) Designed by Romanian fresh industrial design graduates Andrei Avarvarii (exterior design) and Adrian Vasiliu (interior design) the BMW Z0 project is a sports car for the next decade. The fuel-challenged years ahead are a real threat to the traditional driver’s machine. However we think that, by going back to the roots of the automobile, we were able to create a smart, efficient and environment friendly sports car. For many years the key to performance was the power to weight ratio and not just power. Manufacturers these days seem to have forgotten that and got absorbed in an absurd competition for power. The Z0 is the proof that less can be better. As the name suggests the car is intended as the smallest sports car produced by BMW. The “0” number signifies that the vehicle is reduced to the essence and it has zero harmful emissions. The small 1.6 liter turbo hydrogen engine and the 450 kg kerb weight ensure top performance in an affordable package. Modern, yet nostalgic...

Mercedes and McLaren were preparing to launch a special lightweight version of their SLR supercar, a batch of spy shots plus a spy video have surfaced, giving us a sneak peek at the limited-edition roadster prior to its anticipated unveiling by McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton towards the end of the month. The images – which appear to have been released by the manufacturer itself – confirm our previous report that the roofless supercar will have little in the way of protection from the elements, with an F1-sized wind deflector screen as the only thing between the driver and the wind rushing by at breakneck speeds. Inspired by the original '50's-era 300 SLR, the new speedster will be faster than any previous SLR and be built in a small serial of 75 examples. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

GM's European branch is planning a big debut later this month at the British Motor Show in London for one of its most important mainstream models. The new Insignia is replacing the venerable Vectra and brings with it a whole new design language. We got our first preview of the new look on last years GTC and Flextreme concepts. In London, Opel will be displaying hatchback and sedan variants of the Epsilon II-based Insignia, with the sharp edged look of the Vectra replaced with smoother flowing lines and scooped out side panels. European drivers will have seven engines to choose from including four gas and three diesel models, all with six speed gearboxes. The four- and six-cylinder gas engines range from 115 hp to 260 hp, while the 2.0L diesel fours get 110-160 hp variants. The Insignia will also be available with a version of the Haldex torque vectoring all wheel drive system used on the Saab Turbo-X. GM plans to announce pricing for the new model on July 22 in London with sales later...

In the past, BMW didn't exactly rush in to follow the trend toward larger, more family-friendly vehicles. Like a fashionable latecomer to a cocktail party, the German automaker launched the BMW X5 a few years into the SUV craze. But when the tide turned and the market clamored for scaled-down utility, BMW was ready with the nimble X3. And now that the crossover has found its way into the lineup of practically every marque in the auto industry, the German automaker steps up to bat with the X6 , a four-passenger "Sports Activity Coupe" that BMW hopes will entice customers looking for the superior handling of a sport sedan with the space and functionality of an SUV. And just to clear up any potential confusion: Yes, BMW is calling the X6 a coupe, but that's just pure marketing, as it really does have four doors. Underneath the crossover's controversial styling lies the capable, athletic handling BMW is known for. The all-wheel-drive X6 shares the same platform as the...
