The unison of Italian manufacturer, Maserati and the British fashion house Burberry could never be this hideous. But some stinky rich loser in Saudi Arabia with awful taste has plastered his Maserati Quattroporte in a Burberry plaid gift-wrap paper. I thought that type of a print only went over fragrance cartons and Burberry handbags, but this dreadful magnum opus seeks to open new gates for future gruesome innovations. The Italian maker shouldn’t turn a blind eye to this horrid attempt at blemishing its scrupulously established reputation. © Source: luxurylaunches We need your comments below >>

If the latest Lamborghini is one of the world’s ultimate supercars, local rival Maserati produces one of the best luxury coupés. The gorgeous GranTurismo has been on sale for a year now, and to mark its first anniversary, the company has launched a new S version. It costs a hefty £11,250 more than the standard car, but extra power, a hi-tech automated gearbox and various styling tweaks show where the money has been spent. On the outside, bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels are the most obvious change, but the S also comes with black headlamp surrounds, new side skirts and a pronounced lip added to the bootlid. Twin oval exhausts also give a clue to the extra performance available, while new seats covered in leather and Alcantara feature inside. The biggest changes are reserved for the engine and gearbox. Under the bonnet there’s a new 4.7-litre V8 instead of the 4.2-litre unit found in the standard car. It produces 434bhp – a 35bhp increase – and an impressive 490Nm of torque. That’s enough to...

The Maserati Quattroporte promises all of the above. The legendary Italian manufacturer has a strong tradition of competition and sports car building and has fused their technology and sporting pedigree into the opulence of a luxury saloon. The tested car was the brand new 2008 Executive GT Automatic; the flagship variant of the luxury four-door five-seater Quattroporte . Styled by noted Italian automotive designer Pininfarina, this car takes design cues from the ‘70s. There’s a retrospective and nostalgic look to the rear quarter of the Quattroporte; the ‘C’ pillars and boot area are reminiscent of some of the sports saloons of thirty years ago. The front end and grille are aggressively styled and the combination of all of the athletic curves and muscular lines, combine to make the entire car a boldly styled and achingly handsome, if intimidating form. At cruising speeds, the big car is unflustered, dignified and sweeps along motorways and ‘A’ roads with grace. Inside the sumptuous leather...

Fiat Group’s luxury brands Ferrari and Maserati have both posted record results for the first quarter of 2008, despite global economic uncertainty and increasing stock market volatility. Ferrari’s profits have been fueled by higher sales in its V12-powered line up, the 612 Scaglietti and 599 GTB Fiorano, with customer deliveries jumping 4 percent to 1,654 units. Revenue grew almost 20 percent to 456 million euros , with its trading profit almost doubling to 59 million euros compared with the same period last year. Last year, Ferrari set its best record for revenues, up 15.3 percent to 1.67 billion euros . Its trading profit was up 45.3 percent to 266 million euros and unit sales up 11.1 percent to 6,488 cars. Maserati increased vehicle deliveries 21.3 percent to 2,234 units in the first quarter, greatly due to the success of the new GranTurismo four-seat coupe. This has resulted in a 10 million euros trading profit compared with 1 million euros it had lost in the same period last year....

The Maserati MC12 is a rare beast. Only 25 were made in 2005 and just seven of those were federalized for use in the United States, one of which is this blue-and-white gem you see above. Similar to its brother, the Ferrari Enzo, the MC12 shares not only the Ferrari 6.0-liter V12, but the same hefty price tag, as well. The current bid for this particular example is over $1,200,000 and still under the reserve. Originally owned by a collector in Florida, it is up for sale by Lamborghini of Las Vegas and only has 521 miles clocked on the odometer. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

The road is littered with the hood ornaments of once-inimitable car marques that champion the past while artfully dodging the present. After decades of corporate upheaval, Maserati appears to have finally outrun that fate and, with its 2008 GranTurismo, rejoined the pantheon of Italian masters. Behind the masterstroke is renowned Italian design firm Pininfarin a—they of Maserati's reputation-forging hit, the sinuous 1946 A6 1500, among others. The GT's fluid yet muscular body, arching from its intimidating oval grille and low-sloping hood to its triangular taillamps, blends the allure of Maserati's racing history with the lithe curves of its recent Quattroporte sedan. But this is not just eye candy; Maserati wants the GT driven often, and to extremes. Its partnership with Ferrari means that the recessed, low-displacement, high-revving 4.2 V8 (quiet, but with an enticing hum) are nearly identical to those sported by its crosstown cousin in Modena, Italy. With supercar weight...
