  • 2009 Jaguar XF V6 Diesel Review

Actually, there are a few things. But why don't we start at the beginning? Remember the retro-styled Jaguar S type sedan? Not a bad car, but there were aspects that never were quite right. It seemed … old. But the new XF is the first Jaguar in a very long time that doesn't look like your dad's car. It's modern—hip even. Under the hood is the carry-over twin-turbo 60-degree V6 diesel from the S-Type. It's actually a Peugeot/Citroen design—now four years old and built in Dagenham, Essex at a plant belonging to Jaguar's former owner, Ford. The compacted graphite iron block, aluminium-alloy head engine has twin camshafts per bank, four valves per cylinder and weighs just 445 pounds. In other words it's modern, clever and lightweight. It's also powerful, delivering 204 hp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque though a six speed automatic and on to the rear wheels. And that's enough to sprint to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds and manage a top speed of 143 mph. But this big cat...
  • 2011 Jaguar XJ mule Spied

Jaguar is obviously suffering no ill-effect following the Tata takeover, with yet another test mule - this time of the new XJ - spotted in the US. While the limited camouflage may seem to indicate this is nothing more than a subtle face lift - make no mistake, the next XJ is tipped to sport a radical new and daring look. The reason for this aesthetic overhaul, according to Jaguar ’s chief of design, Ian Callum, is that the XJ model is selling in considerably lower figures than the more modern-looking XF. The end result of what we see here is the underpinnings of the next XJ married to the existing model’s sheet metal, - with a few crude additions to handle the increased wheel base. The underpinnings aren’t all new however, with Jaguar modifying the existing all-aluminum platform to re-use it for the code-named X351 which will make its official debut in spring 2011. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>
  • Jaguar XF-R Spied - Video

The coming Jaguar XF-R has been caught in the valley of death. It was accompanied by a Jaguar XJ mule and shepherded by a fleet of Land Rovers charged with blocking the all-seeing eye of someone's Sony Handycam. Fortunately for us, they failed. The driver of this particular prototype XF-R couldn't keep his foot off the throttle, as at different points in the video you hear the growl of a big displacement V8 and the accompanying scream of a supercharger. Other than vents in the hood to let that 5-liter V8 breathe, the body modifications look to be exceptionally tame. With 500 horsepower, however, its acceleration should be quite the opposite. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
  • 2009 Jaguar XF-R spied

Finally, some pictures of our favourite car at the moment, the Jaguar XF-R . Although Jaguar have been very tight-lipped about the car to date, these pictures prove the high-performance Jaguar XF-R is coming! Under the hood we could probably expect Jaguar’s 4.2-litre supercharged V8 which will then get upgraded to the 5.0-litre engine size – hinted by the four exhausts – to give a power of around 500 hp. Some insiders at Jaguar say the company will most likely just go with the 5.0-litre from the start. Whatever the outcome, in a car that looks this good, the XF-R is sure to be a winner. The XF-R will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2009. Expect a comprehensive review (and video) of the Jaguar XF range soon. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>
  • 2009 Jaguar XK spied

Jaguar ’s development ambitions don’t seem to have been derailed by its recent take-over by India’s Tata Motors - quite the contrary, actually. This lightly disguised Jaguar XK mule was spotted testing on home soil recently in the UK ahead of the revised model’s official debut at the Paris Motor Show . Due to hit showrooms internationally early next year, the next generation will undergo a several styling and mechanical upgrades. A revised front bumper now incorporates additional air vents below the head lights, whilst the redesigned rear also boasts new LED technology in the tail lamps. The power-retractable antenna has also been scrapped in favour of a more discrete and streamlined shark fin which now appears on the coupe’s deck lid. These changes will apply to the entire XK model range, including the performance XKR and the extreme XKR-R model which is due next year also. While the engine range will remain relatively identical, underneath a retuned suspension set-up and recalibrated...
  • Jaguar XJ spied

For Jaguar to truly stay alive under its new India owners, Tata, it needs to revitalise its entire range and the large XJ sedan, rooted in the past, needs a complete make over. That’s just what is coming and these photographs by our spy photographers show a mule testing the car that will radically replace the currently very staid Jaguar XJ sometime in 2009. The best information on the new Jaguar XJ, which will echo the recently released XF sedan, but in an even more radical shape, has come from English car magazine Autocar , which obtained considerable inside information from sources who have been shown a full size model of the new Jaguar XJ . The new generation Jaguar XJ will bring a welcome shift in design for the next XJ , which desperately needs a more muscular look to match its athletic moves. The present iteration has an extremely capable chassis, but its interior and exterior designs are stuck in the past. The next-generation car will still use the current XJ sedan’s aluminium underpinnings...
  • Jaguar celebrates 60 years of XK with the XK60

The original Jaguar XK120 was an impressive car for its time. Introduced at the 1948 London Motor Show, it wooed onlookers with its sleek design and a 3.4-liter straight-six developing 160 horsepower. It's 120 mph top speed made it the world's fastest production car at the time and over the years, other XK's followed the original's footsteps -- the XK140 in 1955 and the XK150 in 1958 -- both named for their top speed capabilities. Then there's the XKSS, the road-going version of the D-Type race car of which only sixteen were produced. Jaguar will be celebrating these legendary cars at this year's British Motor Show with the XK60, named to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the original XK120. Jaguar is mum about the features of the XK60, but we'll be sure to bring you all the details when it is officially unveiled on July 22. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
  • £2,201,500 Jaguar D-Type was sold

A vintage Jaguar racing car has been snapped up for a world record price of more than £2 million . Vintage Jaguar D-Type first appeared on Britain's roads in 1955. The 3.4-litre car was the first Jaguar D-Type to roll off the production line in 1955. The motor car with the chassis number XKD509, was sold for £2,201,500 following frantic bidding at the auction held at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester. A British vintage car enthusiast bought the much sought after motor at the Bonhams sale. The price beats the previous world record for a Jaguar car of £1,706,000 set in 1999.The XKD509 was sold on behalf of the Littlewoods Football Pools family and was raced in America in the 1950s. © Source: telegraph We need your comments below >>
  • 2010 Jaguar XJ

Jaguar ’s restyled version of the slow-selling sedan. In this chapter, long-running Brit traditions are tossed in the dustbin and replaced with a design inspired by the company’s new style indicator, the XF . Sales in the U.S. are circling the loo. Now that Indian conglomerate Tata owns Jag, the company will need fresh models to spice up the brand. Platform: The lightweight aluminum structure of the current XJ soldiers on with only minor changes to accommodate the new body. Powertrain: New direct-injection versions of the existing Jaguar V-8 engine. Base versions should make 350 horsepower. The supercharged engine is bumped to 5.0 liters and 500 horsepower. New looks could turn off stuffy traditionalists, whereas potential converts might not even notice. Also, the uncertainty surrounding Jaguar ’s long-term future could undermine sales. Production is to begin at the end of 2009 with an on-sale date at the start of 2010. Pricing should remain in line with the current XJ’s, at $65,000 to...
  • Jaguar XJ Diesel still Britain’s Greenest Luxury car

“For a proper luxury car to achieve 1000.2 miles (1609kms) on a single tank of diesel is simply remarkable. It’s enough to make you want to buy one” The 2.7-litre diesel engine in the Jaguar XJ series is a robust powerplant which can move the car along rapidly if need be, but at the same time, is capable of achieving a mind-blowing 53.5mpg (4.4-L/100kms). I mean we are not talking about a frugal little 5-speed manual four cylinder bread box but rather one of the most luxurious cars in the category with an interior more akin to a five star hotel fit out, than a four door sedan. Moreover, the big Jag’s CO2 emission count of 139g/km is so low for a car of these dimensions I had to re-examine the calculations. Again this level of carbon pollution is more like what you would expect of a small econobox, than a lavishly appointed flagship model in the large car category. Incidentally, the diesel engine is a twin turbo unit and the entire car is made from aluminium, but still weighs in at 1659kg...
  • Spy Shots Jaguar XF-R mules testing in Death Valley

The two sedans may look like Jaguar S-Types, but according to Fast Lane Daily's spy shot A-Team, they aren't. They are actually XF-R mules disguised as S-Types with large wheels and big, bulging fender flares. They were caught during hot weather testing recently in Death Valley, U.S.A., and FSD reports that their engines did not sound supercharged, a la the XK-R. Rather, they sounded like the naturally aspirated V8 from the Aston Martin Vantage. Though they're not part of the same happy Ford family anymore, Jaguar could now buy engines from Aston Martin and not worry about stepping on the toes of its sister company. However, this is the first we've heard of the engine in the XF-R not being supercharged, so take it with a big grain of salt for now. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
  • Jaguar posts first sales rise in almost 2 years

For decades, Ford has carried Jaguar like an 800 lb guerrilla on the company's back. And just as Ford is able to unload the money-burning British marque, the leaping cat responds by posting its first sales increase in two years. Jaguar's April sales were up a ridiculous 69.6% in Europe, and while Automotive News somehow gives credit for this sales success to Tata Motors, it likely has a hell of a lot more to do with the all-new XF sedan. Jaguar has 18,000 customers in line for the new 4-door, which has given sales figures a big lift while helping other Jags leave the dealer lot, too. The slow-selling X-Type and the underrated XJ also got a lift from the extra showroom traffic. At first glance, it appears Ford 's luck just can't change, as Jaguar is finally looking interesting just as the Blue Oval sells it off. What's more likely is that Ford wouldn't have gotten as much cash for the leaping cat if it couldn't dangle a hot-looking sedan to potential suitors....
  • 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged by Inside Line

Bruised and bloodied, Jaguar 's fate now rests in the hands of Indian automaker Tata. The only certainty of its future is that it is uncertain. © Source: edmunds We need your comments below >>
  • 2008 Jaguar XF lands in Australia

CarAdvice has just attended the Australian launch of the all new Jaguar XF. Radical styling and handling characteristics to rival its competitors place the Jaguar XF as a major contender in the luxury car market. The entry level 3-litre V6 petrol, and 2.7-litre twin turbo diesel kick off the range, at the starting price of $105,500 . The 4.2-litre petrol powered V8 is next up at $130,500 , leaving the supercharged 4.2-litre V8 to round out the XF stable at $166,700 . So far, the XF has been claiming awards overseas. It has bagged the What Car 2008 “Car of the Year” Award, in addition to the “Car of the Year” from the Sun newspaper and the “Interior of the Year” from Car magazine. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>
  • Jaguar XF 3.0 V6

The 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine is as compatible with the Jaguar XF as Hillary Clinton is with Barack Obama. Hoping they'll work together for the common good is simply folly. The 238bhp V6 is underpowered and overstressed, and has the unhappy knack of making the car feel heavy and slovenly which, in both its diesel and V8 guises, it surely isn't. Choose wisely. But like most drivers, my first XF experience is centred around the interior packaging, which has been touted (and in places lauded) as a modern, sassy lurch away from Jaguar's fusty wood veneers towards the alloy modernity so beloved of BMW and Audi customers. Sorry, but I fear it is mostly trinketry. The automatically folding air vents, strange self-raising gear-selector knob and disappointingly flat mouldings of aluminium-coloured plastic do little to mask a fairly ordinary feeling inside. The XF is no more special than a Mondeo - maybe less so. I recognise that the gaudy central control screen (backed up by manual...
