Hyundai has added a hatchback version of its Elantra compact sedan to battle it out with cars like the Dodge Caliber, Toyota Matrix, Mazda3 hatchback and Nissan Versa. Standard equipment includes four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and stability control, something not standard among the competition. Other features new to the Touring model are standard USB and auxiliary audio inputs. The center stack design has also been changed. Power still comes from the same four-cylinder engine, but for an economy car it isn't completely anemic. © Source: cars We need your comments below >>

Hyundai’s latest generation of cars have been given the highest praise by the motoring world. The i-series is set for expansion with the release of the i10 shortly as well as the car we have pictured here, the VW Polo-rival, likely to be called the i20 . Expected to go on sale overseas sometime next year, the i20 will replace the ageing Hyundai Getz which has been on the market since 2002. Though we’ve snapped the five-door here undergoing mountain-testing in southern Europe, we’re pretty sure a three-door model will be available as well. Will the i20 come to Australia? It would seem very likely. Engine choices are still a guess, but we suspect a variety of petrol engines delivering between 50-80kW will be offered in Europe, plus at least one turbodiesel. Hyundai Australia has been contacted for comment. Check back later in the day for more on the new Getz. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>

One of our many spy photographers recently arrived at this top-secret testing area at 3am in the morning, he told us his aim was to get some sleep till around 7am and wait for the cars to show up, but instead, he caught the very first pictures of Hyundai’s all-new 2010 6-passenger Portico crossover. First shown as a 2005 concept in Chicago, Hyundai is hoping its R-Class-like crossover will fill all the niches where Mercedes and Chrysler’s Pacifica failed. Flexible seating for the Portico means two rows of seating with seating for 4 or 6 – depending if the centre seat is folded down or upright. With six passengers in two rows - the Portico will offer more cargo area than similarly sized vehicles. The Portico is expected to be offered with a V6, as well as with a hybrid powertrain, and will be built in Alabama. Hyundai Australia has not announced any plans to bring the Portico here, however depending on its success in the United States, there is a possibility of this six-seater making its...

In something of a ‘show and tell’ exercise Hyundai has shown off its revised 2009 Grandeur , including an all-new diesel powered model, which is expected to go on sale in Australia in about four to six weeks. Delays in shipping meant the assembled media were not able to drive the new cars but only look and touch two of the latest cars; media testing of the cars will have to wait until the full shipment arrives. Hyundai has hopes that adding the diesel engine to the Grandeur will revitalise the car, which has been an extremely slow seller for the Korean company, with just 297 finding homes in Australia last year. The diesel Grandeur gets Hyundai ’s 2.2-litre Common Rail Direct injection (CRDi) with 5-speed Selectronic automatic transmission. This engine pushes out a generous 343Nm of torque between 1800rpm and 2500rpm, while power is 114kW at 4000rpm.The engine is suitable frugal using just 7.9L/100km. For those who want to stay with petrol the 3.8-litre V6 with 5-speed Selectronic automatic...

Korean carmaker Hyundai is considering introducing a station wagon vrsion of its very successful i30 small car into the Australian market in the near future. Hyundai product planning manager Ben Hershman, said the company was looking at just what spec and trim levels it would bring the i30CW in and indicated that the two we looked at, a cloth trim base model and a luxury trim leather model were both likely to be selected. He said the company was still deciding if it would bring both petrol and diesel engines in in the i30CW but indicated at was almost certain that the diesel engine would be selected. Mr Hershman also indicated that he believed there was a growing move towards station wagon type vehicles as many people looked at their options and potentially moved away from the compact SUV vehicles which have been very popular with this market in recent years. The CW has a slightly lengthened wheelbase over the i30 hatchback now on sale in Australia and a slightly longer overhang , which...

Hyundai will offer ESP Stability Control as standard in a selected range of its passenger vehicles for a limited time as part of its mid-year sale campaign. Whilst it may not be a permanent change, for a limited time this will be the cheapest way for an Australian new car buyer to have the potentially life-saving technology. The Getz 1.6 SX available from $14,990 , Elantra 2.0 SX available from $19,990 and Tucson City 2.0 SX available from $24,990 will feature ESP as standard on all new models sold until June 30. ESP Stability Control can reduce the risk of a single vehicle accident where the driver is injured by as much as 68% according to studies conducted by Monash University in Victoria. © Source: seriouswheels We need your comments below >>

Hyundai UK has announced that it's offering a lightly-modified special edition Hyundai Coupe (that's "Tiburon" in 'Merican English... or Spanish, really). The Coupe TSIII sounds like it was named by a doo-wop group ("Tee-ess-ay-yay-yay"), comes in four colors and gets new exhaust tips (possibly attached to new mufflers, since a "sportier engine note" is mentioned), Eibach springs, anthracite-finish wheels, quilted leather appointments, a new spoiler, and super-special badging. Power, however, comes from a 141-horsepower 2.0L four. Hey, at least it looks fast. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

Since its introduction three years ago, the Hyundai Tucson has been a solid choice for compact-SUV shoppers. It's generously equipped with lots of standard features and safety equipment, and its long warranty coverage is one of the best in the segment. Buyers have a choice between two engines and front- or all-wheel drive. And the Tucson delivers respectable carlike ride and handling dynamics that should satisfy most shoppers in this class. As is common for the segment, buyers can choose between four- and six-cylinder power. But compared to rivals, the 2008 Tucson 's power plants are both down on power -- the V6 makes only 173 horsepower, not much more than competitors' four-cylinders. Furthermore, the Kia must make do with a four-speed automatic, while some other compact SUVs offer five-speed automatics. These downsides are also true for the Tucson's sibling, the Kia Sportage. With so many choices available for small SUVs these days, the 2008 Hyundai Tucson 's detriments...

Driving Light controls ensure the Hyundai is extremely straightforward to drive. With a tight turning circle and excellent visibility, it has all the key attributes a great city car requires. The 1.1-litre engine delivers keen throttle response, making sure the i10 is nippy through traffic. Combine this with responsive steering, progressive brakes and a tidy gearshift, and the Hyundai is fun and easy to drive. Even so, it’s worth pointing out the engine does get a little coarse at higher revs, and the ride tends to be on the firm side. However, the stiff suspension does mean the i10 is stable at motorway speeds. Marketplace The i10 replaces Hyundai’s previous city five-door, the Amica. Built in India, links to the old car are clear, particularly in the unattractive side profile. However, the tidy nose and rear are attractive and modern, similar to the bigger i30. Powered by a single 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, Hyundai ’s baby comes in three trim lines – Classic , Style and Comfort...

As some of you might have already heard by now. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been unceremoniously de-cloaked courtesy of MyRide.com and the New Tiburon forums and is now making the rounds online. The consumer-grade version of the concept shown last year in Los Angeles simply looks fantastic, and with both turbo-four and V6 power on tap, it's ready to make some noise. Unfortunately, we can't tell you the specifics just yet (but rest assured, there's plenty to tell -- and it is good). Barring any additional unforeseen surprises, we'll have the complete story for you when the car makes its debut this week in New York. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

Hyundai has quickly developed a full range of products in its US lineup, and quality scores from companies like JD Power show those vehicles now rank among the best in the industry. For all of Hyundai's progress the past few years, the South Korean automaker has taken its time getting navigation systems into its fleet of cars and trucks. For '08, the Azera, Santa Fe, and Veracruz all get nav systems, the Genesis sedan receives a separate high-end interface, and the bread-and-butter 2009 Sonata will get the tech as well. The folks over at Kicking Tires proclaim the interface to be bright, clear, and easy to use. It's about time. With Hyundai raising the price of entry for the Sonata to match (or exceed) the competition, it's important that the midsize sedan has everything the competition offers. It's just a shame that it took until now for them to do it. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
