  • 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

Lightning may have struck twice, but when the folks at Ford 's Special Vehicle Team decided to trick out another F-150 , the result - the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor - was a completely different kind of truck. Though the F-150 Lighning may have appealed to those hankering for muscle-car fun and a pickup bed out back, the F-150 Raptor allows drivers to take blistering performance off the beaten path. SVT looked first at the F-150 's underpinnings, and scrapped most stock suspension parts. The most change came up front, where SVT added unique upper- and lower A-arms, a new tie-rod, and new half-shaft joints. All four corners also benefit from the addition of internal-bypass Fox Racing Shox, which increase stiffness as the suspension compresses to keep the truck from bottoming out. The front suspension has a whopping 11.2 inches of travel, while the rear suspension has 13.4 inches. Coupled with the standard 35-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, the package should be more than adept...
  • Ford B-MAX

The Fiesta-based car – which replaces the much-criticised, slow-selling Fusion – offers style and practicality in a compact package. It will slot into the range below the C-MAX, which will be available with five and seven seats when the next generation version goes on sale in a couple of years’ time. But the B-MAX will take Ford into the rapidly expanding supermini-MPV class. While the Fusion could never rival the Vauxhall Meriva and Renault Modus, its replacement will have a lot more going for it. And, as we revealed in Issue 1,035, it’s already been given the green light. Production will start at Ford’s recently acquired factory in Romania in 2010. Huge, bold headlights, neat tail-lamps and an eye-catching rising waistline add visual appeal, as do the chunky wheelarches and athletic stance. The newcomer will sit on a slightly longer wheelbase than the Fiesta’s, and although the supermini has been criticised for being short on space, the same can’t be said of the B-MAX . There will be...
  • Ford Fiesta Econetic

The beauty of Ford ’s ECOnetic line-up (the ‘netic’ part comes from the manufacturer’s kinetic design principle) is that relatively simple modifications deliver impressive results. This new Fiesta version is no different. The main change is that it’s 20mm lower, courtesy of shorter, stiffer springs as used on the Zetec S variant, so improving the aerodynamics. This is hardly a dramatic modification – and you’d never notice the low-rolling-resistance tyres, either, unless you examined them close-up. Neither is there anything to suggest that low-friction oil is pumping round the engine. Inside, too, there’s the same big car feel as in the standard model, with seats which really cosset occupants for such a small vehicle. The dash is covered in funky, slightly rubberised plastic, the switches are nearly up to VW quality and hard, scratchy materials are kept for the places where you don’t see them. Only the door handles could be better, as these feel flimsy and brittle. Where the ECOnetic character...
  • Ford Ka 1.3 TDCI Zetec

With its cheeky looks and fun handling the original Ford Ka has been the favourite small car of a whole generation of drivers. And as we found in our exclusive drive of the 1.2-litre petrol last week (Issue 1036) the all-new model looks set to continue the success story. This time around, the Ka has another string to its bow – it's available with a diesel. The 1.3-litre unit is the same as the unit which is fitted to its sister car, the Fiat 500, and on the road its 74bhp output means the little oil burner delivers punchier acceleration than 1.2-litre petrol versions. It’s also smooth enough around town to compliment the light controls. Only available in top spec Zetec trim the diesel commands a £700 premium over the equivalent petrol so it’s the only Ka to break the £10,000 barrier. Nevertheless, emissions drop to 112g/km, while claimed economy is an impressive 67.3mpg. While diesels currently account for just four per cent of the UK city car market, CO2-based taxation means their...
  • Ford Focus ST by Loder1899

For the people who consider that the European Ford Focus ST to be bordering on perfection, Loder1899 is trying to tip the scales with its new customization kit for the stylish hatchback. This consists of a new suspension kit that lowers the vehicle for better handling, a new stainless steel sport exhaust system, a new set of 20 inch “IRA” wheels. Probably the best part is the engine management system upgrade and a new sports air intake. The 2.5-liter engine now makes an extra 45 hp, bringing the total to 270. © Source: topspeed We need your comments below >>

  • 2010 Ford Mustang GT Spied

Spy shots of the 2010 Ford Mustang are an easy thing to come by lately, as Ford has seemingly taken to driving prototypes around Detroit just for fun. We've shown you the base V6 model wearing little camo, the GT500 and even the car's interior. Now we bring you shots of the '10 Mustang GT model that were recently snapped in the parking lot of a strip mall. The shots show of all the goods, including the new front end inspired by the Giuigiaro Mustang Concept that debuted in 2006 at the LA Auto Show . The refreshed '10 Mustang GT has a much harder job on its hands than did the 2004 model that kicked off the modern Mustang era. That car enjoyed a rear-wheel-drive muscle car segment of just one – itself – for years. The new Mustang, however, will find the Dodge Challenger and brand new Chevy Camaro waiting for it next year. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

  • 2009 Ford Ka

Ford has said in the past that it wasn't looking to bring its lovable little Ka subcompact to the United States, but increased demand for fuel efficient transportation has the Dearborn-based automaker rethinking its plans. The Ka is very popular in Europe, where fuel-sipping cars have long been accepted, but the tiny Ka has never been sold here in the States. The new Ka, which was shown off in Paris last week, carries Ford's European Kinetic Design theme that is shared with the larger Fiesta and Focus, but in a much smaller package. Ford CEO Alan Mulally told a local Detroit radio station this morning that many within Ford Motor Company would like to bring the Ka across the pond, and that executives are reassessing the situation. The new Ka hits European showrooms in early 2009, and even if the Ka does come here, we likely won't see the sub-compact until 2011 at the earliest. With fuel prices in constant flux, we're guessing MPG-conscious customers will make the Ka a safe...
  • 2009 Ford Super Cabela's FX4 Edition

Ford is expanding its relationship with Cabela 's, the world's largest outdoor outfitter, by offering a new Cabela 's FX4 package for 2009. According to customer data, seventy-six percent of F-Series buyers hunt and fish and a key way for Ford to connect with those outdoor enthusiasts is as the official truck of Cabela’s for the last six years with products prominently placed at stores nationwide and featured in Cabela’s publications and TV programming. The Cabela's FX4 package features a unique two-tone paint scheme in five colors: Ebony, Oxford White, Forest Green Metallic, Royal Red Metallic and Silver Metallic with Sterling Grey Metallic lower body accents, running boards and wheel lip moldings. Custom mud flaps and unique Cabela's badging finish off the exterior. The interior features standard cloth seats with the Cabela's logo or available Aniline leather seats with a unique two-tone embossed grain pattern. All weather floor mats also wear the Cabela's...
  • Ford Ka

The baby Ford will make its world debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show , but company bosses have already confirmed trim levels. There’s a choice of Studio, Style, Style + and Zetec, each with its own unique styling features and equipment. Buyers will also be able to specify optional extras such as Bluetooth phone connectivity and heated seats. The Ka shares platform architecture with the Fiat 500, and is built on the same production line at the Italian firm’s Tychy factory in Poland. Ford has spent thousands of hours ensuring the car is stronger dynamically than its Fiat twin, though. Engine options will be limited to a 1.2-litre petrol unit with 68bhp or a 74bhp 1.3-litre TDCi turbodiesel. Both models emit less than 120g/km of CO2, while the oil-burner promises 67.2mpg fuel returns. Ford says the Ka will arrive in showrooms here in “late 2008 to early 2009”. © Source: autoexpress We need your comments below >>
  • Ford Focus ST Mountune

Ford has announced today an approved Mountune performance upgrade for the Focus ST hatchback. The Mountune Performance package comprises a larger intercooler, a high-flow air filter and re-mapped engine management software, increasing power to 256bhp and torque to 400Nm – lifting the fast Ford right into Audi S3 territory. The standard ST makes do with 222bhp and 320Nm. The increases mean the 0-62mph sprint is shaved by 0.6 seconds to 5.9 seconds, and because the upgrade is Ford approved it does not affect the manufacturer’s warranty. Priced at £1,120 plus fitting, the kit can be fitted to new or used cars by a select group of specialist dealers, a list of whom can be found at www.mountuneperformance.com. A performance suspension kit for the Focus ST is also under development, as well as upgrade packages for other Ford models. © Source: autoexpress We need your comments below >>

  • 2008 Ford Focus XR5 Turbo

A lot of so called sports cars these days comprise of little more than a badge, a spoiler kit and a set of alloy wheels - an anodyne, half baked attempt at attracting the brain dead if you ask me. But if instead you’re the type whose right foot gets a little itchy at the mere idea of pounding down a twisty country road in a no holds barred bona fide hot hatch, then perhaps you’d better take a look at this. The face-lifted LV Focus XR5 Turbo , unlike its LT series South African siblings, is a completely German designed and manufactured five-door, five-seater boasting not only the sporty good looks deserved of wearing the XR badge, but a tremendous and dynamic engine and handling package sure to delight the driver in all of us. The 2.5-litre, in-line five-cylinder, turbocharged engine is the embodiment of all that’s right in forced induction. Strong, linear boost and flat, early torque delivery make the 166kW, 320Nm, at 6000rpm and 1600rpm respectively, offering a lithesome, overtly usable...
