This impromptu drag race doesn't give us any clear indication of times, but you can definitely see the EV's advantage of light weight and instant-on torque from a stop. The concept electric vehicle jumps ahead at the start, but the Challenger hangs on. Just when the big HEMI seems to be getting a full head of steam, however, they run out of space. SEMA Show will be all about going retro with the Camaro and Challenger , and here’s more proof: the Challenger SRT8 Roadster concept by Group Five. The car features chopped windscreen and seats only for two with the rear passenger area being hidden by a tonneau cover. On the exterior the roadster concept will feature a front spoiler, a hood shaker, a redesigned rear bumper with new exhaust pipes and a set of restyled rear LED lights. Now this should be interesting. Despite all the nay-saying flying about the interweb in connection with the Dodge Challenger ’s handling characteristics, Chrysler head designer Ralph Gilles is set to compete in the 2008 Targa Newfoundland with a Snake Skin Green 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 . Gilles started with a Drag Pak edition car before doing his best to make the car stick, and more than a few forward thinking souls are asking if this could be the first sprouts of a road race package for the heavyweight Mopar. It’s possible. Not likely, but possible. Rally Newfoundland is a brutal road rally that covers just over 1,300 miles of some of the most challenging road Canada has to offer. Dodge and notMYkid partnered to auction the first production 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8(R) at the 37th annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction on January 19, in Scottsdale, Ariz. The winning bid was placed by Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company.
