The new Chevrolet Camaro already has a place in the Australian market if GM ever decide to sell it locally, filling the void left by the Monaro’s departure. However unlike stillborn Monaro concepts of the past, Chevrolet has revealed a sneak peek of the new pre-production Camaro Convertible . Holden has previously tested the waters with a drop-top V8 Coupe in the form of the 2004 Holden Marilyn concept - basically a convertivle Monaro. (from Performance West Group) This vehicle has been equipped with a full chassis by Modern Muscle . They call a vehicle built this way a "Super Car." The chassis features Corvette C5 aluminum suspension at all four corners, including independent rear suspension and the C5 differential. Handling is on par with a C5 Corvette, which is light years ahead of a stock first generation Camaro. The top features a subtle chop, which is really a significant task on a convertible, since all of the top bows must be altered accordingly, and must still function for raising and lowering the top. Another interesting item on this is the electronic stack injection, which enables the classic Chevy big block to, quite literally, start with the push of a button. It starts easily on the first turn, and idles incredibly smoothly. Is this the new Chevy Camaro z-28 , judging by the brake calipers and wheels it seems like it is. The guys over at Edmunds Inside Line got their hands on one hot spy video : the 2 010 Chevrolet Camaro being tested at the Ring. It is rumored that the engine will push around 525 horse power.
