  • Jaguar plans more sports cars including a Porsche Boxster competitor

Jaguar seems to be getting its sporting identity back. Its parent company Tata announced today there will be three new vehicles in the Jaguar ’s line-up in the future: a coupe or a roadster derivative of the XF sedan, a lightweight sports car to compete with the Porsche Boxster, and possibility another new luxury car. Of these future plans, the XF variant seems to have been in the pipeline for the longest. It is likely the roadster/coupe will be the F-Type that was announced back in May (rendered above). The F-Type will likely be positioned as a baby brother to the XK, and possibly take a few design cue from the concept that was first shown in 2000. Jaguar isn’t getting all of the cars on its wish list. Plans for an SUV are dead because it would be redundant next to its Land Rover stablemates. Also there will likely be no replacement for the entry-level X-Type, which proved to be unpopular in North America. © Source: topspeed We need your comments below >>
  • Jaguar XKR-S

Quiz time. What has a supercharged 4.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 412 lb-ft of torque? No guesses? Here’s a hint: it nails the 60 mph mark from a dead stop in a shade over 5 seconds, has a top speed of around 174 mph and just so happens to be the fastest Jaguar XK thus far. Put down your pencils. That sirs, is the Jaguar XKR-S . Built with a light-weight aluminum body structure and reworked aerodynamics, the S sits close to 20 mph faster on the top end than its XKR brother thanks to some hard work by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle’s Team. Nearly every surface of this car has been touched by those speed freaks on some level, making for one bad feline. The new chin spoiler even (almost) makes the Taurus grill work. That is, if we were to ever see it here in America. As it sits, this is one kitty that’s keeping to the Kingdom. © Source: autofiends We need your comments below >>
  • 2009 Jaguar XF Review

If Jaguar made its reputation with fast, luxurious, and beautiful sports cars exemplified by the XK series from the original XK 120 of 1949 through today's XK, it has also built some fine sedans to broaden its lineup. The best-known and most influential was the mid-sized Mark 2, produced from the late 1950s through the 1960s, is a classic today, was successfully raced, and inspired the S-Type of 1998 through 2008. The large XJ sedans, in all their various guises over the years since the nameplate debuted in 1968, have also cemented the company's reputation for distinctive styling. Jaguar is known for its sumptuous old-English interiors, with leather and burled wood aplenty. That's the XJ, the XF , while incorporating both materials, also features textured aluminum trim for a sportier and more contemporary look. It works. There is plenty of electronic trickery - get in, press the start button, and the air vents in the dash rotate from their closed positions while the JaguarDrive...
  • 2008 Jaguar XJ Super V8

Heads of state, top-level business executives and the independently wealthy are the typical purchasers of limousines such as the Jaguar XJ Super V8 , the BMW 7-series and the Mercedes S-Class, and they heavily favor the German offerings if sales figures are any indication. But just being rich and powerful doesn’t make them right. Certainly, the BMW and Mercedes sedans offer impressive features, capable platforms and what many consider attractive styling. But they lack what the Jaguar has in spades - character. That’s not to say the XJ isn’t an attractive and feature-packed car, however. Radar-adaptive cruise control, satellite radio, dual headrest DVD players, airplane-style seatback trays, supple expanses of leather and luxurious deep-pile wool carpeting are spotted on the briefest of glances at the vehicle’s spec sheet. But that’s not where the charm of the XJ lies. The atmosphere in its cabin, the feeling you get looking at it from across a parking lot, the shoved-back-in-the-seat acceleration...

  • 2009 Jaguar XF V6 Diesel Review

Actually, there are a few things. But why don't we start at the beginning? Remember the retro-styled Jaguar S type sedan? Not a bad car, but there were aspects that never were quite right. It seemed … old. But the new XF is the first Jaguar in a very long time that doesn't look like your dad's car. It's modern—hip even. Under the hood is the carry-over twin-turbo 60-degree V6 diesel from the S-Type. It's actually a Peugeot/Citroen design—now four years old and built in Dagenham, Essex at a plant belonging to Jaguar's former owner, Ford. The compacted graphite iron block, aluminium-alloy head engine has twin camshafts per bank, four valves per cylinder and weighs just 445 pounds. In other words it's modern, clever and lightweight. It's also powerful, delivering 204 hp and 320 lb.-ft. of torque though a six speed automatic and on to the rear wheels. And that's enough to sprint to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds and manage a top speed of 143 mph. But this big cat...
  • 2011 Jaguar XJ mule Spied

Jaguar is obviously suffering no ill-effect following the Tata takeover, with yet another test mule - this time of the new XJ - spotted in the US. While the limited camouflage may seem to indicate this is nothing more than a subtle face lift - make no mistake, the next XJ is tipped to sport a radical new and daring look. The reason for this aesthetic overhaul, according to Jaguar ’s chief of design, Ian Callum, is that the XJ model is selling in considerably lower figures than the more modern-looking XF. The end result of what we see here is the underpinnings of the next XJ married to the existing model’s sheet metal, - with a few crude additions to handle the increased wheel base. The underpinnings aren’t all new however, with Jaguar modifying the existing all-aluminum platform to re-use it for the code-named X351 which will make its official debut in spring 2011. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>
  • Jaguar XF-R Spied - Video

The coming Jaguar XF-R has been caught in the valley of death. It was accompanied by a Jaguar XJ mule and shepherded by a fleet of Land Rovers charged with blocking the all-seeing eye of someone's Sony Handycam. Fortunately for us, they failed. The driver of this particular prototype XF-R couldn't keep his foot off the throttle, as at different points in the video you hear the growl of a big displacement V8 and the accompanying scream of a supercharger. Other than vents in the hood to let that 5-liter V8 breathe, the body modifications look to be exceptionally tame. With 500 horsepower, however, its acceleration should be quite the opposite. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
  • 2009 Jaguar XF-R spied

Finally, some pictures of our favourite car at the moment, the Jaguar XF-R . Although Jaguar have been very tight-lipped about the car to date, these pictures prove the high-performance Jaguar XF-R is coming! Under the hood we could probably expect Jaguar’s 4.2-litre supercharged V8 which will then get upgraded to the 5.0-litre engine size – hinted by the four exhausts – to give a power of around 500 hp. Some insiders at Jaguar say the company will most likely just go with the 5.0-litre from the start. Whatever the outcome, in a car that looks this good, the XF-R is sure to be a winner. The XF-R will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2009. Expect a comprehensive review (and video) of the Jaguar XF range soon. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>
  • 2009 Jaguar XK spied

Jaguar ’s development ambitions don’t seem to have been derailed by its recent take-over by India’s Tata Motors - quite the contrary, actually. This lightly disguised Jaguar XK mule was spotted testing on home soil recently in the UK ahead of the revised model’s official debut at the Paris Motor Show . Due to hit showrooms internationally early next year, the next generation will undergo a several styling and mechanical upgrades. A revised front bumper now incorporates additional air vents below the head lights, whilst the redesigned rear also boasts new LED technology in the tail lamps. The power-retractable antenna has also been scrapped in favour of a more discrete and streamlined shark fin which now appears on the coupe’s deck lid. These changes will apply to the entire XK model range, including the performance XKR and the extreme XKR-R model which is due next year also. While the engine range will remain relatively identical, underneath a retuned suspension set-up and recalibrated...
  • Jaguar XJ spied

For Jaguar to truly stay alive under its new India owners, Tata, it needs to revitalise its entire range and the large XJ sedan, rooted in the past, needs a complete make over. That’s just what is coming and these photographs by our spy photographers show a mule testing the car that will radically replace the currently very staid Jaguar XJ sometime in 2009. The best information on the new Jaguar XJ, which will echo the recently released XF sedan, but in an even more radical shape, has come from English car magazine Autocar , which obtained considerable inside information from sources who have been shown a full size model of the new Jaguar XJ . The new generation Jaguar XJ will bring a welcome shift in design for the next XJ , which desperately needs a more muscular look to match its athletic moves. The present iteration has an extremely capable chassis, but its interior and exterior designs are stuck in the past. The next-generation car will still use the current XJ sedan’s aluminium underpinnings...
  • Jaguar celebrates 60 years of XK with the XK60

The original Jaguar XK120 was an impressive car for its time. Introduced at the 1948 London Motor Show, it wooed onlookers with its sleek design and a 3.4-liter straight-six developing 160 horsepower. It's 120 mph top speed made it the world's fastest production car at the time and over the years, other XK's followed the original's footsteps -- the XK140 in 1955 and the XK150 in 1958 -- both named for their top speed capabilities. Then there's the XKSS, the road-going version of the D-Type race car of which only sixteen were produced. Jaguar will be celebrating these legendary cars at this year's British Motor Show with the XK60, named to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the original XK120. Jaguar is mum about the features of the XK60, but we'll be sure to bring you all the details when it is officially unveiled on July 22. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
