  • 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid

The 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid includes running boards for easier entry. The SUV stretches more than 200 inches long with a 119-inch wheelbase. EPA's assessment says the 5.7-liter Hemi delivers 19 miles per gallon in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. Not spectacular numbers, but certainly better than the 13 mpg in the city the 2008 Aspen reached with a 4.7-liter V-8. During my week of testing this large SUV, I was able to hit 26 mpg at times; other times, 18 mpg. Admittedly, on the high mileage days, the roads were flat and my right foot was in eco-drive mode -- though I never acted like those 55-mph imbeciles on a 70-mph highway. The 2009 Chrysler Aspen Limited hybrid is not a vehicle without flaws. The interior still has a heavy plastic feel, especially the doors and dash, and comes with the second ugliest hood on a Chrysler vehicle. But it serves a purpose, and not every vehicle on the road today can say that. Some people do need a truck and the Aspen is exactly that: a big hulking...

  • Chrysler Cuda Convertible Concept

Maybe the ' Cuda is alive after all. While we have speculated about the existence of one ever since we first heard a hint of the SEMA show car from last year, all we've had to work with since are rumors and sketches of what might be. Well, today at the weekly Cars and Coffee show in Irvine, a genuine 'Cuda Concept was parked right in the midst of everything. A convertible nonetheless. It just sat there with only a few people really spotting it for what it was. Considering that real original '70s 'Cudas are plentiful at this show and that several Challenger SRT-8s have already made appearances, it doesn't seem surprising that people might not spot this concept immediately. The surprising part is that it is painted purple with a white convertible top that can't be ignored no matter how hard you try. While the car sported no badges, it wore a mock "NEWCUDA" Colorado plate and had a seemingly stock Challenger-like interior, complete with a Hurst pistol...
  • 1957 Chrysler Diablo Concept Car To Be Auctioned Off

The one-of-a-kind 1957 Chrysler Diablo concept car is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's a long sleek convertible which will be auctioned off at Monterey's famed classic car weekend this August by RM Auctions. The Diablo is one hot devil car, note the little pitchfork on the side . It was conceived by Chrysler's design head, Virgil Exner and built by Italian coachbuilder Ghia on a 1955 Chrysler 300 series chassis and Chysler invested over $250,000 in the project back then. It was a featured concept car for the 1957 US auto show circuit. At 22 feet in length this one must be a little difficult to take around corners. The car has been in the care of one owner for 25 years. It is estimated to sell for $2.5 to $3 million . The ultra-rare Diablo will join several other European styled sports and racing cars and several classic American luxury automobiles at RM Auctions' Monterey auction "We have assembled the greatest collection of sports and classic cars ever brought...
  • 2008 Chrysler 300-Series Bottom Line

Looking at the 2008 Chrysler 300 , it's easy to say that this car is one of the best things to come out of the troubled Mercedes-Benz/ Chrysler relationship. Introduced in 2005, the C hrysler 300 re-introduced Americans to a domestically-built, full-size, rear-wheel-drive sedan. The car was an immediate hit. 2008 Chrysler 300 hits the streets with several major improvements for the year. Starting with the exterior, you'll find new front and rear fascias, a new grille and taillamps. These in no way impair the 300's retro-modern style. Inside, the 300 gets a new set of instruments and a revised dash, along with new door trim panels and a reorganized center console. New soft-touch materials, new upholstery, and a relocated cruise control stalk also make the cut for 2008. The standard engine on the rear-drive 300 is a 2.7-liter V-6 engine providing 178 hp. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard, but curiously, anti-lock brakes are not (it should be standard). A 3.5-liter...
  • DUB Edition Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger

Sweet quarts of Pennzoil, why must every automaker jump on bandwagons they have no business being on? Chrysler, the reason people put DUB wheels and parts on their cars is to be unique and stand out from the crowd. By partnering with DUB for the 2008 DUB Edition Chrysler 300 Touring and 2008 DUB Edition Dodge Charger SXT , you're missing the point. Now you have two underpowered cars, with largely unremarkable styling, and overblown Kicker sound systems that will be replaced anyway. Has at everyone Chryslerberus taken crazy pills? © Source: jalopnik We need your comments below >>
  • Chrysler 300C Touring SRT Design Diesel

A month ago, there can't have been many people saying, "Oh, my life is incomplete without a Bentley-resembling Chrysler , but you know I just can't quite bring myself to get one on account of the lack of soft-feel plastic on the armrests. Come to that, the position of the high-mounted stop-light is impossibly shabby." And so there can't be many people who will rush out to buy one now those things have been fixed. If you were a 300C kinda guy before, you still will be now. If you weren't, this micro-facelift won't have made a whole lot of difference. On the other hand, the jiggery-pokery to the range might change your situation. New prominence goes to the diesels. They're good. It's a Merc-derived V6 with 215bhp and a smooth-ish auto. People have been buying the diesel in big numbers, unlike most of the petrol models, so they've been offed from the range. The only petrol 300C that remains is the entertainingly bonkers SRT/8. A V8, 425bhp and a set...
  • 2008 Chrysler Grand Voyager

Chrysler has released the all new 2008 Chrysler Grand Voyager in Australia with a starting price of $56,990 . The 2008 model has improved significantly, with the entry price only increasing by $1,000 . The old 3.3-litre V6 engine has been replaced with a new 3.8-litre petrol V6 and, for the first time, a 2.8-litre turbo diesel is also available. Chrysler says there is more than 30 new improvements for the ‘original’ people mover. The new engines are now coupled to six-speed automatic transmissions which replace the aging four-speeds. Other notable features include standard Reversing camera across the range, all-new Swivel ’n Go™ seating system, the availability of dual-DVD screens for second- and third-row entertainment and MyGIG™ Multimedia Infotainment System. The most obvious change, however, is the all-new interior and exterior design which now resemble the rest of the Chrysler line-up. On first glance you might assume that the ‘all-new’ 2008 Grand Voyager is only a facelift. Not so...
  • 2008 Startech Chrysler 300C

(from Chrysler Press Release) The Exclusive STARTECH Program for the New-Generation Chrysler 300C The Chrysler 300C continues its successful existence in an updated version. STARTECH (www.startech.de ) offers an exclusive and innovative customization program for the new generation 300C sedan and wagon. STARTECH sport springs and rear shocks are specially calibrated to the sporty tires and the specific engine installed in a particular model. They lower the ride height of 300C sedan and wagon by some 40 millimeters and result in an excellent symbiosis of agile handling and high ride comfort. The SD6 kit bumps power output of the 3.0-liter V6 common-rail turbodiesel engine from standard 218 hp (214 hp SAE net) / 160 kW to 262 hp (259 hp SAE net) / 193 kW at 4,000 rpm. Even more important for everyday driving is the increase in torque from 510 Nm to 580 Nm (376 to 428 lb-ft), available already between 1,600 and 2,800 rpm. These impressive figures naturally benefit the performance of the Chrysler...
  • Chrysler unveils diesel 300C SRT!

When we heard word of a diesel-powered Chrysler 300C SRT , visions of overdosing our right foot on torque were instantly conjured. While the Pentastar has unveiled such a car in Europe, it's not exactly what you think. Basically a trim package for the 300C in Europe, the SRT model gets visual enhancements to its buttocks including new rear taillight clusters and a deck lid spoiler, but the car still uses the same 3.0L V6 diesel producing 218 bhp and 376 pound feet of torque you can get in other models. While the wheels appear to be the same butch 10-spokers as our own 300C SRT8, the front fascia lacks the deeper chin spoiler and the grille is Chrysler's Euro-spec Bentley-like tight mesh. One Autoblogger described the diesel 300C SRT as Chrysler of Europe's version of an Impala SS, i.e. long on looks but a bit toothless. For Europeans who prefer the American machismo only the 300C can provide, however, the SRT version delivers. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>
  • 2011 Chrysler 300 Sticks With Rear-Drive

New fuel-economy regulations are threatening to kill off a whole generation of new, rear-drive vehicles planned by a handful of manufacturers. But at one company, the mainstay rear-drive sedan is sticking around–mainly because there’s no budget to change its orientation. Chrysler ’s plans for its large 300/Charger sedans include a major makeover for the 2011 model year. But while Chrysler’s new managers have been dropping hints about the future of the HEMI engine, there’s not much they can do about the rear-drive layout of the big sedans. A switch to front-wheel drive could improve the fuel economy of the sedans, but reports to TCC say that there’s no money set aside to make the switch to front-wheel drive. The Canadian plant where the 300/Charger and new Challenger are built formerly was outfitted to build front-drive sedans, back when the plant produced the Chrysler “LH” cars in the early 2000s. The revamp in the works for the early part of the next decade will be fairly substantial....
  • Detroit Autoshow 2008 Chrysler 300C Hollywood limousine

Chrysler 300C Hollywood limousine comes face to face with the oddly similar Maybach Landaulet with every revolution of its turnstile. Like the Landaulet, the 300C Hollywood also features a partially exposed cabin, but this time over the front seats rather than the rears. The fully-enclosed rear passenger cabin is accessed by two large suicide doors and features plenty of leg room thanks to its chassis stretch. There's also a repository for three bottles of Cristal (or whatever bottled spirits you prefer to imbibe) and two flutes in between the seats. Meanwhile, the driver is left to convene with Mother Nature and her elements up front where the interior luxe is decidedly lesser. In fact, the 300C Hollywood limo becomes much more interesting when you look at it through a socio-polical lens. It's clear where the Haves and the Have Nots are supposed to sit, with a nice partition in between them to keep the classes separated. OK, perhaps we should just pop open a bottle of Cristal and...
  • 2008 Jeep Renegade Concept

Chrysler rolled out three concepts at the 2008 Detroit auto show , each pairing exciting design and glimpse-of-the-future features with environmental friendliness. All three deliver power through an electric motor system and advanced, yet-to-be-developed lithium-ion battery pack, but each model has a different type of "range extender for the powertrain" - a gasoline or diesel engine that cycles on only when the battery has little charge remaining. This modular electric/lithium-ion technology that all three employ is being developed by Chrysler's new ENV1, an in-house organization at the company that's focused around developing electric-drive vehicles and advanced-propulsion technologies. At only 153 inches long (just a few inches longer than the MINI Cooper) and less than 63 inches wide, the Jeep Renegade concept is a little two-seater that could be equally in its place on sand dunes, tight forest trails, or tight city streets. The Renegade, at least visually, looks like...
  • 2008 Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept

At the 2008 Detroit auto show , Chrysler rolled out three concepts, each pairing exciting design and glimpse-of-the-future features with environmental friendliness. This modular electric/lithium-ion technology that all three employ is being developed by Chrysler's new ENV1, an in-house organization at the company that's focused around developing electric-drive vehicles and advanced-propulsion technologies. The Chrysler ecoVoyager concept is a sleek, rounded one-box design - looking like a low-sling crossover vehicle - that's said to celebrate the "romance of automobile travel embodied in a four-door, four-passenger distinctively American design." Chrysler design chief Trevor Creed named elegance, simplicity, and serenity as design priorities. With an overall length of about 191 inches and width of 75.2 inches, its footprint is similar to that of a mid-size four-door sedan. A 200 kW (268-hp) motor system would drive the wheels and power the ecoVoyager with enough gusto...
  • 2008 Dodge ZEO Concept

The Dodge ZEO is a four-passenger, 2+2 sport wagon and takes a nearly opposite design direction from the Chrysler, with a long hood, rearward cabin, and monster 23-inch wheels. The ZEO, according to Creed is a "new, responsible breed of muscle car for the 21st Century." With...
