Responding to customer requests, Aston Martin has now launched its DBS with an automatic transmission, which it is calling the Touchtronic 2. Basically, a similar unit to the DB9’s automatic, the Touchtronic 2 is a transaxle ZF transmission which has been upgraded to handle the higher power and torque from the V12 of the DBS. Buttons on the fascia are used to select drive, park and reverse settings, with leather-trimmed magnesium paddles mounted behind the wheel to shift up and down gears. Once a paddle is activated, manual control is selected, with the driver needing to select “Drive” to return to full automatic mode. There is also a “Sport” setting with more aggressive throttle mapping and gear changes. The 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds is unchanged, mainly due to a shortening of the final drive ratio from 3.15:1 to 3.46:1. Top speed of 307km/h is also unchanged. In addition, the DBS now comes with BeoSound, Bang and Olufsen’s bespoke audio equipment for the DBS. 13 channels, 10 speakers...

Aston Martin has teased us today with a sneak peak at the company’s latest supercar, the One-77 . Not much is known about this car, which has been kept under wraps, but what we do know is that it is set to turn the Aston Martin image on its head. Currently recognised for making desirable (but heavy) grand-tourers and sports cars, Aston Martin has been secretly developing the One-77 for a limited build run. The difference with this car, is an all new chassis made from carbon-fibre, which along with aluminium panels will keep weight to a minimum. Also new is a 7.0-litre V12 which Aston Martin says will offer “exhilarating performance for a strictly limited number of discerning customers.” The name, refers to “One of 77″ as implied by its new website - www.one-of-77.com The company says that the One-77 is “the ultimate creative interpretation of the renowned British marque.” With a price-tag said to be around the £1 million mark, the hand-built supercar is said to be very special. A front...

In an auction by Newport Pagnell, the Aston Martin broke all boundaries by generating £4.7 million (approx. $9.3 million ) bids from fans. Fans from all over the world put up as much money as they could to lay their hands on the keys of their beloved ride. Distances as far as Japan and Australia didn’t make much of a difference to the bidders. The Aston Martin ’s patronage speaks for itself with all the goliath efforts from its patrons. The 961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Coupe stole the show with the highest bid of £1,079,500 (that its approximately equivalent to $2,139,650 ). This is the highest price paid for this model that had only 75 units. © Source: luxurylaunches We need your comments below >>

The 2009 Aston Martin DB9 has joined its baby brother, the V8 Vantage , for a performance overhaul. The DB9’s 6.0-litre V12 engine has been boosted from 335kW to 350kW with torque now nudging the 600Nm mark. This has shaved a tenth off the supercar’s 0-100km/h time - dropping to just 4.6 seconds with the top speed jumping to 305km/h. Handling has also been improved thanks so revisions made to the chassis and suspension setup. Not unlike the V8 Vantage, the 2009 DB9 will also feature a new centre console and switch gear - a highly criticised aspect of the existing model. It will also receive a new ECU (Emotional Control Unit) as seen in the striking Aston Martin DBS . Exterior changes include new side mirrors, a revised grill and updated 19-inch wheels. © Source: caradvice We need your comments below >>

The 2010 Aston Martin Rapide is now undergoing high-speed tests on the Nürburgring test track in Germany. And like the previous prototypes, this Rapide test mule has only minimal camouflage. The lack of a cover reveals an interesting new design twist — a roof that's nearly all glass. There are a few pieces of equipment attached to this particular prototype, but it's a relatively unobstructed design otherwise. A few other luxury sedans have similar setups, so this appears to be an emerging trend in the segment. Like the current range of Aston Martin coupes, the Rapide sedan sounds as good as it looks. Not a surprise really, as the Rapide will use essentially the same 5,935cc V12 as the DB9. Output is expected to jump significantly, though, so expect to see the final number approaching 500 horsepower. The corporate ZF-built six-speed automatic transmission is the likely gearbox and it will send the power to the rear wheels. Production of the 2010 Aston Martin Rapide is expected to...

Like most rendered ruminations, we know absolutely nothing about these digital drawings of a car named the Aston Martin AM V10 , other than they were penned by someone who goes by Sabaman. They're not new either, having been uploaded onto the interwebs about a year ago. Nevertheless, they're very good and show off a vision for Aston Martin 's future that's become all the more relevant since the brand's been sold by Ford. Perhaps building ever faster versions of its current lineup won't cut the mustard someday soon, and Aston will begin considering a proper halo car. Such a low-slung, mid-engine exotic like this AM V10 concept could do the trick. It's swoopy with a familiar Aston Martin f ront face, but the rest of the body is pure sex. Again, we reiterate, these renderings are purely fantasy and nothing like this is being planned, but we wouldn't mind if it were. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

The Aston Martin super-supercar is getting closer and closer to becoming a reality. The new V12 Vantage RS has already been given the nod for production in the first quarter of 2009 and some have even put their orders in. These photos are the first of the V12 RS doing the rounds at Germany’s Nürburgring race track. Aston has taken liking to the ‘Ring’, competing in the infamous 24-hour race and announcing its own dedicated test centre there . The Gaydon based company even launched a special edition N400 Vantage dedicated to the legendary circuit. Thankfully Aston has kept the rear diffuser remarkably similar to the concept’s and apart from the sound of the V12, the easiest way to tell the V8 and V12 RS apart, is the rear diffuser set-up and the air-intakes on the bonnet. The V12 Vantage will propel Aston Martin to a new level, taking on the F430 Scuderia and Gallardo LP560-4 . Power comes from a 6.0-litre unit shoehorned under the bonnet - official figures are still unknown but expect between...

This car has always been a collage of a sublime engine, and body-work of devine proportions - a car that was always going to be beautiful from the start of the production line. It would be near impossible to ruin a stylistic masterpiece like the Vantage , with its V12 6.0 engine, deriving from the DBS, although the RS name evokes a not-so-elegant and discreet competition. Fortunately at Gaydon, they have decided to remain faithful to the initial spirit of the V12 RS concept, ensuring that fascination remains uncurtailed as does the British soul of the car. The V12 contained in the bonnet of the Road Sport has an output of about 550bhp, combined with a retractable rear spoiler - when you do a body-kit… The British publication Car has another juicy rumour: Aston Martin could be working on a new V8, with 4 733cc, photographed on a Vantage doing the rounds of the Nurburgring. In short, beauty has been born. © Source: eurocarblog We need your comments below >>

(from Aston Martin Press Release) 2008 Geneva Motor Show , which includes significant enhancements to standard specification. These changes include a revised version of Aston Martin ’s 6.0 litre V12 engine to deliver improved power and torque. Peak power of 470bhp (350kW) – increased by 20bhp (30Nm) - is now reached at 6,000rpm, resulting in a power to weight ratio of 267bhp per tonne (199kW/tonne) – an increase of 11bhp per tonne over the existing DB9 . Peak torque of 600Nm is delivered at 5,000rpm, providing even more accessible power for the driver, as well a greater performance feel overall. Accordingly, top speed is now 190mph (306km/h) and the benchmark 0-60mph time improves by 0.3 seconds for the Touchtronic transmission – which benefits from a new valve box and integrated transmission controls to achieve quicker gear shifts – to 4.6 seconds and by 0.1 seconds to 4.6 seconds for the manual gearbox. The innovative DB9 introduced an exciting new era for Aston Martin . The 2+2 sports...

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage continues to build on its advantages -- exclusivity, hand-stitching, and that winged badge -- to make it a full-bodied competitor to that other marque from Stuttgart. According to Car magazine, the Vantage will get some engineering tweaks and its engine capacity will grow by almost half a liter, to 4733-cc. A year ago Aston merely fiddled with the ECU on the N400 and found 20 extra horses. We hope an even more plump double digit number comes with this kind of growth in displacement. The cabin is also expected to receive a polish, with things like the Ford key -- and perhaps the Volvo switches -- being kicked out of the old boy club. A face-lifted range of DB9s is also expected. All of these changes leads us to our one request for Aston, please be careful with what is already perfection. © Source: autoblog We need your comments below >>

Our spy shooter was ready when Aston Martin took its Rapide sedan for some hot laps at subzero temperatures on an ice track. Pegged for a late-2009 introduction as a 2010 model, the $400,000 DB9 -based Rapide will battle the likes of Porsche 's Panamera four-door due out at about the same time. © Source: autoweek We need your comments below >>
