Filed under: Videos , Australia , Celebrities Click above to view the trailer for Eric Bana's Love the Beast Actor Eric Bana has a thing for auto racing. He also has a thing for his car, a 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT that he's owned for 26 years, since he was 15 years old. He combined those passions after completing a two-year-long restoration of the car and entering the 2007 Targa Tasmania . Then he combined those with his passion for acting, and will release his film called Love the Beast about the car and the race in a little over a week on March 12. The movie's supporting cast includes Jeremy Clarkson, Jay Leno, and, um... Dr. Phil - possibly the oddest supporting cast since Weird Al Yankovic's UHF . Incredibly, for those who didn't follow the Targa Tasmania, the new trailer gives away the movie's twist, but it's probably worth it just to hear Clarkson ask "600 horsepower... and leaf springs ?" Follow the jump to check out the trailer. Hat tip to Nick...

Filed under: Etc. , Government/Legal , GM While your next car might not be made in Michigan, the next movie you see might be. At least it could work out that way if Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm's plan succeeds. In Granholm's State of the State Address earlier this week, the governor announced that: "Wonderstruck Animation Studios will invest $86 million to build a new studio in Detroit; Stardock Systems, a digital gaming manufacturer, will build its production facilities in Plymouth; and Motown Motion Pictures will invest $54 million to build their new film studios at a former GM plant in Pontiac." Michigan has been offering some generous enticements to the film industry for some time now. The state's lawmakers passed a law last year to offer filmmakers cash refunds of 40% or more to movies made in Michigan. The Wall Street Journal says that's one reason Warner moved production of " Gran Torino " from Minnesota to Michigan. The state is also throwing...

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Supercars , Aston Martin , First Drive , Celebrities , Special/Limited Editions Click above for high-res image gallery of the Quantum of Solace DBS Your English-manor-garden variety Aston Martin DBS has 510 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. The 6.0-liter V12 that powers it will pull the coupe to 60 in 4.3 seconds. It costs $305,000, and it is a special car. But we drove one that was even more special. We drove one of the Aston Martins that was in Quantum of Solace , driven by the man who plays The Man. We didn't even have to break into some supermax-like vault-within-a-vault to get to it. Aston Martin delivered it to us for a day of spy play, yet that didn't make the experience any less thrilling. Follow the jump for the story. Filed under: Etc. , UK , Celebrities , Humor Spoiler Alert: If you want to be surprised by the ending of The Italian Job , stop reading now. We had a theory that humanity was officially bored when the carpet rake was invented. Once people didn't have to subdue woolly mammoths for dinner, they could focus on how to subdue the shag. That theory has been bolstered by news that the cliffhanger ending of The Italian Job has been attacked - and solved - by a host of amateur minds responding to a contest held by the Royal Society of Chemists (RSC). The end of The Italian Job sees the gang in the front of a bus teetering over a cliff, looking at all the gold at the back end of the bus and knowing they can't get to it without plunging to gold-plated deaths. The question posed by the RSC was simple: How could the gang get the gold out of the bus and remain alive to spend it? Ironically, the answer was all about physics, not chemistry. The winning entry, submitted by John Godwin, describes...

Filed under: Etc. , Marketing/Advertising , Chrysler, LLC. , Celebrities If a company is going to stay in business, there's no question that it must continue to market itself. Yet Chrysler's choice to pay to do so via this summer's Terminator: Salvation is a head-scratcher. Some folks have made an issue -- a valid one -- of public funds being used to secure the sponsorship. Regardless of who's paying, we don't get this at all. Chrysler's director of media, Susan Thomson, said "We have a following with the Terminator movies and we are going to continue with that." We have no idea what following she's speaking of, unless she means the ancient Dodge police car or equally ancient Jeep from the first film, neither of which made us think, "Chrysler rocks!" A modern, beat-up Wrangler makes a cameo in the latest trailer , but again, it doesn't leave us jonesing for a Jeep. When all anyone wants from Chrysler is good looking, ably performing cars...
