Filed under: Etc. , Government/Legal , Humor Michael Harold Lynch was ticketed for doing 54 mph in a 35 mph area that was also a construction zone. The fine was $206. Lynch decided to let his anger flow by placing $206 in a plastic bag, peeing in the bag and...

Filed under: Etc. , Euro , UK Anyone who uses a satnav regularly knows the feeling of looking at the directions being given - or actually trying to follow them - and wondering "WTF?" Try an experiment and plug one of your regular destinations into your satnav and see what it spit out; seven times out of ten you'll wonder "Why would it tell me to go that way?" A driver in England has once again followed the instructions from his car's GPS system as if he were Abraham heeding instructions from The Almighty. Headed to a friend's house, the driver was told by his GPS to go up a steep walking path, and he did so. Luckily the path was lined by a fence, because when the driver crested a hill, he slid down the path and into the fence, which stopped him from going over a 100-foot cliff. Fortunately, he was unhurt, although charged with careless driving. Never forget: trust your good sense before you trust your satnav... [Source: The MIrror ] Example #4,239 why sat...

Filed under: Etc. , Lifestyle Click above for a gallery of the Babolat Propulse 2 with Michelin rubber Michelin, the tire company, has a division called Michelin Lifestyle Limited that focuses solely on extending the company's "Better Mobility Concept" to other arenas, the lastet one being center court. The brand of Bibendum has developed the outsole rubber for a range of Babolat's new tennis shoes, the Propulse and Team. With a tennis player's movements centered around "acceleration, braking, grip and relaunch" on a variety of different surfaces, the Michelin R&D lab probably had a good idea of what kind of rubber was needed. Michelin mated rubber technology from its auto racing programs with a revised version of its Optimized Cell System that uses seamless circlular micro-cells inspired by rally racing tires. The result is said to be exceptional grip and durability. And if it'sood enough for Sebastien Loeb, there's a good chance it's good...

Filed under: Etc. , Lifestyle , Event Alert Next weekend, the Riverside International Auto Museum will host the Legends of Riverside film festival, gala and general car show-off. In addition to a tribute to Paul Newman and screenings of Winning , Le Mans , and The Making of Le Mans , folks like Dan Gurney, Bob Bondurant, Peter Brock, Brock Yates, and Pete Lyons will be there chatting up all those four-wheeled-things that go fast. If you're a movie and racing fan who's also into Maseratis, the museum has more than 30 of them on display, including an MC12 and that sweetness from sister brand Alfa Romeo called the 8C Competizione. Oh, and it's all for charity, which might be one more reason to swing by if you're in the neighborhood... Filed under: Etc. , Lamborghini , Lifestyle Tim Cooper came up with a hideous set of pumps inspired by the Lamborghini Gallardo . Now, a French designer at Subaru in Japan has come up with sneakers that pull their inspiration from the Lamborghini Reventon. They're a little blunt at the front, but otherwise -- and as one might expect -- they're sleek, angular, olive drab, and boast a healthy dose of carbon fiber trim. Check out that trick suspended heel, too. We're not likely to ever see a production version, but if Lamborghini did decide to offer them, we'd take these kicks over the Lamborghini cologne any day. Filed under: Etc. , Tech , Lifestyle D-Box aims to put viewers into the movies they've paid to go see by moving the chairs they sit in. It works by translating the onscreen action into motion code, which is then used to control chairs equipped with actuators that can pinch, roll, heave, and vibrate the seat in sync with whatever's being watched. For those of you wondering if the upcoming Fast & Furious could get any better (we use that term loosely), you'll be thrilled to hear it's the first major release to use D-Box technology. The hitch: you'll have to go to the Mann Chinese 6 in Hollywood or the UltraStar Surprise Pointe 14 in Surprise, Arizona to experience it. Those theaters are being equipped with the special seats needed to put you into the action. Just, please, during the movie, don't hold an air steering wheel and insist that people call you Dom Toretto... Filed under: Etc. , Plants/Manufacturing , Videos , Humor Click above to watch video after the jump Despite being told this video was shot in a Ford factory, we're not exactly sure which company claims ownership of the reassigned assembly line robot. Whoever owns the building, they might be surprised to learn what their employees have been doing on their lunch hour. Take one giant robotic arm, a seat with strong seatbelts, a swivel (gotta have a swivel) and one thrill-seeking programmer. The result is what would be the star attraction at Six Flags Detroit if there were a Six Flags Detroit. We're pretty sure this wasn't a one-time joyride either - there's a safety line drawn on the floor and court-side seats set up for an audience. Though it's rip-roaring fun to watch a robotic arm impersonate a Tilt-A-Whirl, we shudder to think what would happen if the order for robot world domination were given while riding this thing. The obedient robot you were just riding suddenly...
