Auto Shows Click above for a hi-res gallery of the Honda OSM Honda says that the OSM roadster on display at the 2008 British Motor Show is merely a design study, but given that "design study" is frequently a euphemism for "future design language," we wonder if we're seeing the next iteration of Honda car styling. Frankly, we hope so, because this is worlds better than what we've seen from the automaker of late, from the Accord right on up to the bland and bloated Pilot. The OSM, short for Open Study Model, is a shapely two-seat convertible that we'd be happy to drive today. Well, maybe with headlamps that weren't lightsaber-sized. Other than that, we love the jaunty look, especially in back , where the taillamps sweep gently from one side of the car to the other. Since it's a styling exercise, there's no specific powertrain combination associated with it, but Honda assures us that...

Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertibles , BMW Click above for a gallery of screen shots. BMW is gearing up for the online unveiling of its latest design study, the GINA Light Visionary Model. Unlike the BMW M1 Homage concept , this one's actually a runner, as evidenced by the video posted below the fold, showing the concept being driven from the studio into a car carrier then unloaded at the BMW Museum in Munich. No details about the roadster are available from the BMW-web.tv site, but judging by the open cockpit and massive width, we're expecting something akin the M1, sans roof and sporting many of the design cues found on the homage. Check back for more when the BMW GINA Light Visionary Concept is unveiled on June 10th. Save for a few vegetarians among us, that's how we like our steaks, and that's how we like our Ferraris. But some are so rare, even the bloodlust-driven connoisseurs among us don't know what to do with it. Take this one-off Ferrari Conciso. It's absolute car paccio. But nobody seems to be biting. The Conciso was built by German studio Michalak Design based on the mechanicals of a 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS (s/n 80962). As the name implies, the idea was to trim the chassis down to its bare essentials. The car has no doors and little in the way of a windshield to speak of. The driver and passenger hop over the sides like an F1 driver, hunker down into the racing buckets, buckle the competition harnesses and strap on the helmets, stored in special compartments inside the cabin. The concept was shown at the 1993 Frankfurt show and in Geneva the...

Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertibles , Tokyo Motor Show , Nissan Click the image above for more high-res pics of the Nissan Round Box. var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Nissan_Round_Box_concept_Odd_name_cool_concept'; Sure, the name "Round Box" might be oxymoronic, but Nissan's take on open-air motoring in the 21st century more than makes up for it's odd nomenclature. The concept is all about interaction, be it with the surroundings or other occupants, with a "right sized" cabin that allows easy communication inside and "road surface windows" that show the tarmac rolling beneath. The styling is far from conventional, with its platypus-meets-Zed front clip, deep swage lines and upright rear playing nicely with the pushed out wheels and flared fenders. We'll be sure to snap off a ton of photos while we're in Japan, but in the meantime, check out the gallery below and Nissan's press release after the jump.
