Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet , GM Click above for high-res gallery of 2010 Chevy Camaro live! GM design chief Ed Welburn and Chevy General Manager Ed Peper just gave the media our first up close and in person look at the new 2010 Chevy Camaro coupe. The reveal was done in the mechanical prep shop that GM design uses for the final prep on all its concept cars. Peper announced that Job 1 for the new Camaro will be coming on Feb. 16 of next year, and although no official pricing is available yet it will be priced aggressively says GM brass. That aggression goes right along with the new looks and powertrain choices for this new coupe, as well. Chevrolet will offer the Camaro in 3 trim levels, the V6-powered LS and LT and the V8-powered SS. The V6 is a direct injected 300-hp 3.6L unit while the 422-hp V8 displaces 6.2L. Both engines will be available with either manual or automatic transmissions, all with 6 speeds. An RS package will be available as an add-on to to the LT and...

Filed under: Coupes , Chevrolet Click above for high-res gallery of the Camaro prototype in more colors It's true. The production Chevy Camaro will debut at Indy, but not at the Indy 500 race in a couple of weeks. Rather, General Motors has informed various Camaro fanboy circles that production Camaros will be in attendance at the Indy '08, Back at the Brickyard event from September 19-21. The Back at the Brickyard is an event attended by thousands of Camaro and Firebird fans, so it's appropriate that the production Camaro be welcomed into the world by friends. On hand will be a number of different Camaro models sporting the full engine lineup and, of course, all the different colors. Everyone thought GM would wait until the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit to debut its new rear-wheel-drive coupe bearing the iconic Camaro name, but we're hardly disappointed the car will be unveiled more than three months earlier. We may just have to make a special trip...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet Click above for high-res gallery of the Camaro SS on the 'Ring More spy shots from the Nurburgring today, this time of the Camaro SS prototype that was spotted arriving at the track yesterday. We already pointed out the bright red Brembo calipers on this Camaro, which suggest it's a high-performance SS version of the car, though that hasn't been confirmed. What is special about these photos is that they're the first time we've seen the Camaro really being driven hard on the track. Though we've seen plenty of Camaro spy shots in the past, most have been of the car caught in a parking lot, on a transport trailer or just meandering around town. Seeing the suspension under load is a thing of beauty that we've been waiting for, and KGP spy photogs tell us that it "looks impressive in action, and that its suspension looks well buttoned down on some of the 'Ring's challenging stretches." Hopefully...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet Click above for high-res gallery of Chevy Camaro spy shots from Germany We've been seeing Camaro prototypes everywhere since Bob Lutz declared that they will be tested out in public without any camouflage to cover their flanks. Camaro prototypes now hold as much of our interest as spy shots of the next Aveo (not really, but hyperbolic statements like that help make the point). But here we have a new batch of spy shots from a place where the Camaro has yet to set rubber to road: Germany. There's only one reason for a U.S.-spec car to be in Germany, and that's to undergo testing at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife. GM has made the 'Ring a second home for many of its performance vehicles, and the Camaro will benefit from being thrashed on one of the world's most famous tracks while spy photographers watch with their lenses focused and stop watches in hand. This particular Camaro arrived wearing new shoes,...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet click above for a total of six new Chevy Camaro spy shots Spy photographers from KGP Photography have finally caught the Camaro in the automotive industry's epicenter. In the past, the General has only tested Camaro mules wearing heavily modified Holden Commodore bodies in the U.S. These pics, however, show a pair of Camaro prototypes, one festooned with camouflage and one completely bare (the way Bob Lutz likes it ) in Detroit City. We're of course interested in the prototype that's sans camo. Aside from a few details like the grille and headlights, you're looking at the Camaro that will go into production next February. The other vehicle, meanwhile, was reportedly fresh off the boat from Australia, which is why it's still wearing camo and features Aussie-spec red and amber taillights. Take a look at the many spy shots in our gallery below and wait patiently like the rest of us for the Camaro to finally reenter...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Chevrolet , GM click above to view the new Camaro spy-shot in high-res var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Another_Camaro_Photo'; General Motors has released another shot of the production Camaro making the rounds on its test track and this time we get a nice view of the front three-quarters. According to the FastLane Blog, the Camaro "is quickly evolving into final form," however, things like the headlight design will likely change before all is said and done. The itty-bitty pic doesn't divulge much, but it does prove that GM is sticking as close to the concept as possible. And just to let you know, we're already looking for a larger version of the pic. UPDATE: High-res version of the pic added. UPDATE 2: You knew they were coming. CamaroZ28.com forum member Rampant has provided us with images of the new Camaro shot in a rainbow of colors. Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Spy Photos , Coupes , Chevrolet , GM Since the original Camaro concept hit NAIAS in January 2006, it seems like we've been living with (and writing about) the pony coupe forever. The fact is, we still haven't seen the Camaro's final production duds. Until now, kind of. The Camaro5 website has posted on its forums a near-naked Chevy Pony car in production sheet metal. The front and rear are wearing padded underwear, but we can see from the side-view pic that the basic shape stays true to the stunning concepts of 2006 and 2007 . Missing are the three slotted vents ahead of the rear wheel wells, but it looks like some ribbed metal takes its place. Also history are the funky-cool but slightly impractical side mirrors from the concept cars, and unlike the concept, the production model has a B-pillar. While it's difficult to tell for certain with the flat white paint job and slightly blurry photography, it appears as though some of the hard edges...
