Filed under: New York Auto Show , Coupes , Hyundai Click above for a high-res rubber-burning gallery If there were ever a fail-safe formula for a press conference, Hyundai nailed it. While we're normally forced to endure lengthy tomes about an automaker's past achievements and the blatherings of egomaniacal execs, Hyundai comes out with two Genesis coupes doing burnouts, e-brake turns and powerslides, then caps it all off with enough pyrotechnics to make North Korea nervous. It was unequivocally badass, and not only does Hyundai have the recipe for a kicking press conference, they know how to cook up exactly what enthusiasts have been asking for. Under the expert direction of a duo of bombshell drivers (one of which is Angelina Jolie's stunt driver, and both of which can be seen in the gallery ), the two coupes made their way around the makeshift track in a smoky haze that was only partially caused by the copious amount of rubber put down on the faux tarmac (the rest was from...

Filed under: Motorsports , New York Auto Show , Convertibles , Coupes , Hyundai Click above for a high-res gallery of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. On the eve of the official unveiling of the Genesis coupe, we were able to score a few details from company execs about the future of Hyundai's first foray into turbocharged, rear-wheel-drive goodness. While Hyundai will only be showing off two versions of the Genesis coupe in New York, more variants are planned for the future, including a targa model sporting a retractable glass roof (ala Porsche 911 Targa), a convertible, and, more compelling, a lightweight version only offered with the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. Hyundai admits that only so much can be done to shed pounds from the coupe, which is already a rather portly beast to begin with, but by nixing some of the sound deadening material and possibly ditching the rear seats, Hyundai hopes that the sporting nature of the Genesis coupe will be fully realized. Naturally, this...

Filed under: New York Auto Show , Coupes , Hyundai Click above for full high-res gallery of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe It would've been cooler had the world met the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe on Wednesday when it's scheduled to be unveiled at the 2008 New York Auto Show . That's not how things are playing out unfortunately, what with the first batch of official pics showing up on the interweb over the weekend, and the rest appearing today (we found them on MotorTrend.com, but they surely exist elsewhere). So instead of a big surprise on Hump Day, you'll get live shots and lots of details on powertrains, the suspension, options, etc. But for now, here are the rest of Hyundai's official pics for the 2009 Genesis Coupe, including images of the car in red, more action shots and views of the interior. Filed under: New York Auto Show , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Hyundai Click image for a high-res gallery of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe As some of you might have already heard by now. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been unceremoniously de-cloaked courtesy of MyRide.com and the New Tiburon forums and is now making the rounds online. The consumer-grade version of the concept shown last year in Los Angeles simply looks fantastic, and with both turbo-four and V6 power on tap, it's ready to make some noise. Unfortunately, we can't tell you the specifics just yet (but rest assured, there's plenty to tell -- and it is good). Barring any additional unforeseen surprises, we'll have the complete story for you when the car makes its debut this week in New York. But since the cat is out of the bag regarding this particular sampling of fourteen official photos, here they are for your enjoyment. Just hit up the high-res gallery below. Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Hyundai Click either image for high-res gallery of Hyundai Genesis Coupe spy shots Though we've seen spy shots of Hyundai's upcoming rear-wheel-drive Genesis Coupe before and now have the Genesis Coupe Concept as a reference for the upcoming production version, these brand new spy shots taken in Sweden reveal many new details, not the least of which is the car's production interior and back seat. Let's start with the exterior, where we can see the sculpted lines of a lower air intake with some chrome slats for good measure. Both doors are also completely uncovered and offer a peak at the flowing character lines that run the length of the car. Spy photogs got some great shots of the interior, as well, which reveal the production center console, gauge cluster, and a floor-mounted shifter for an automatic transmission with manual shifting capability. Shift paddles apparently won't be offered, but there are heated seats and these particular...

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Sedans/Saloons , Hyundai click above to view more high-res images of the 2009 Hyundai Genesis var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Hyundai_gets_serious_2009_Genesis_sedan_w_avail_368hp_V8'; What you are looking at is the physical representation of Hyundai's will to succeed in the U.S., also known as the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. The Korean automaker's first attempt at a rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan will debut in Detroit next week and arrive on our shores later this year (we think) with a price tag that starts below $30,000. As is Hyundai's way, it will feature power, performance and amenities that belie its little price tag. First, the design. The Genesis sedan has clean lines and uncluttered surfaces that look detailed and, frankly, expensive. Yes, it's derivative. There's a bit of Lexus LS in the headlights, some Infiniti in the profile and rear... you get the idea and can add your own observations in the comments. It's a...

Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Sedans/Saloons , Hyundai Click image for hi-res gallery of the Genesis var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Hyundai_Unveils_Sexy_Genesis_30_40k_Lexus_fighter/who'; The spy photos were both detailed and plentiful, and today, any remaining mystery about the new Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan's looks can be put to rest. The car was previewed to the media in Korea this week, and the photos released by Hyundai show the Korean-market version of the car au naturale . Note the newly-unveiled winged Genesis emblem on the hood and wheel centers. The US-market cars should sport the familiar stylized "H" instead. Specific technical details are not given save for confirmation that the four-door Lexus-fighter will be offered with a 375 horsepower Tau V8 and a pair of Lambda V6's (3.3L and 3.8L). According to a company spokesman, the most expensive version of Hyundai's new flagship should come at around $40,000 USD depending on equipment (the...

Filed under: LA Auto Show , Spy Photos , Coupes , Hyundai click either image to view three spy shots of Hyundai's RWD coupe var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/motorsport/Hyundai_RWD_Coupe_caught_on_floor_of_LA_Auto_Show_pics'; The rear-wheel-drive Hyundai Coupe is mere hours away from being debuted at the 2007 LA Auto Show, but we're too excited to wait. These shots were taken minutes ago on the show floor, and reveals that the car Hyundai will have on hand is wearing orange and sporting styling cues not seen on the car that was spied at a marketing event last week. For instance, the wheels on the model debuting later today are different and much more attractive than those on the earlier car. This car's front end also appears to be different than the earlier marketing car, with a chin spoiler in black hanging off of what appears to be a larger lower air intake. Finally, there's also what appears to be black trim ahead of the rear wheel that could be for show, could...
