The automaker's Lansing Grand River plant is scheduled to begin building the stylish rear-drive load lugger in early May, and the first examples should be at dealerships around Memorial Day (May 25), or perhaps early June. Cadillac's first-ever U.S-market station wagon (no, the SRX crossover doesn't count) is expected to offer a reasonable 25 cubic feet of space beneath its rakish rear glass, and while it rides on the same 113.4-inch wheelbase as its sedan counterpart, the wagon will actually be .3-inches shorter. The model looks to be particularly important for GM's fortunes...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Wagons/Estates , Videos , Crossovers/CUVs , Hatchbacks , BMW Click above for a high-res gallery of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo As expected, BMW is obviously pretty far along with the production version of the 5 Series Gran Turismo concept that debuted earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show . While show-car details like the thin metal blades connecting the side mirrors from the concept have been replaced with more conventional bits, the general shape of the new GT has been left almost exactly intact. The same can't be said about the interior, which seems to have lost its artful air in exchange for BMW's typically Germanic sobriety. We'll reserve final judgment for when the production version makes its official debut, likely at an undetermined auto show later this year. Click past the break to see the production BMW 5 Series GT on a video capture of BMW TV, along with the car's German-speaking project leader, Hans-Jurgen Branz. Thanks for the...

Then-chief operating officer Len Hunt admitted that while Kia's value proposition was clear, its products largely failed to connect with buyers on an emotional level - the company's models were purchased based on price, warranty and little else. Since that time, Kia has steadily introduced a slew of greatly improved products, but nothing remotely "sporty" has hit showroom floors. Sure, there have been a few promising-looking concepts, 2007's Kee and Kue , along with 2008's Koup ... but while the company has been creating one-off showcars, Hyundai has grabbed eyeballs, market share, and more than a few magazine covers by delivering both upmarket and sporty vehicles, namely the Genesis Sedan...

Filed under: Convertibles , Coupes , Sedans/Saloons , Wagons/Estates , Audi Audi Sportback Concept - Click above for a high-res gallery Car and Driver sat down with Audi's global head of product engineering, Michael Dick, to discuss the future of the automaker's offerings and how it plans to tackle the ongoing issue of weight. While all automakers cite consumer demand and government regulation as one of the major reasons overall vehicle weight has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, Audi is actively pursuing its "smaller-is-better credo." To that end, the automaker currently has a next-generation A5 prototype running around that's 880 pounds lighter than the current car. Dick told C&D that the mule is using an increased amount of aluminum, magnesium and high-strength steel to reduce mass, and says while the current TT is 69% aluminum, the next A6 (due in 2011 or 2012) will have even more, and the next A4/A5/S4/S5 will feature more still when they arrive in 2014....

Filed under: New York Auto Show , Sedans/Saloons , Wagons/Estates , Rendered Speculation 2010 Subaru Legacy - Rendered - Click above for a gallery Following up on our earlier story about the 2010 Subaru Legacy 's impending rumored debut at the New York Auto Show , a handful of renderings have surfaced from a variety of sources giving us a glimpse of what we might see in the Big Apple. Many of you have voiced some (ahem) minor displeasure with the Legacy concept 's new nose, and although these images aren't official, they won't do much to curb your criticisms. While we're evenly split on how well the new fascia will make the transition from concept to production, here's hoping that the blistered wheel arches and taut rear end make the migration from the drawing board to the dealerships. Filed under: Tuners , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Wagons/Estates , Japan , Nissan , Misc. Auto Shows Click above for a gallery of the Nissan GT-R "wagon" Let's get this over with right now: This isn't really a Nissan GT-R wagon. That said, it is a decidedly artful conversion of the Japanese automaker's M35 series Stagea wagon, a JDM load-lugger it produced from 2001 to 2007. Available in both rear- and all-wheel drive with a variety of V6 powerplants, the now-dead Stagea has been called the "GT-R Wagon" by many enthusiasts. Spotted at Nagoya Auto Trend this weekend, this particular Stagea looks to be a super-clean conversion, with a well-integrated R35 GT-R front-end that's been carried through along the bodysides, with factory-like rocker panel indents and modestly rear quarter panels to keep the theme. While we don't have information about what lurks underneath, the folks at GTRBlog speculate that the wagon could have something interesting like a stroked...

Filed under: Concept Cars , Wagons/Estates , Geneva Motor Show , Crossovers/CUVs , Hatchbacks , BMW Click above for a high-res gallery of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo concept BMW's segment-splitting 5 Series Gran Turismo concept has rolled out under the bright lights here at the Geneva Motor Show , and the automotive media has set to poking and prodding it like an alien specimen from Area 51. From the funky twin-hinge hatch (a rather gimmicky item not dissimilar to that of the Skoda Superb ) to each of its four doors, journalists could be seen opening and closing the 5GT's apertures with curious zeal. To our eyes, the 5 Series GT is better looking in person, although it clearly isn't a natural beauty. The rear seats are obviously more capacious than its 5 Series Touring counterpart, and with only two rear seats, it's plainly more opulent and airier as well (naturally, the panoramic roof helps). If the interior lacks richness in our live pictures, that's not an illusion...
