Filed under: Aftermarket , Videos , Chevrolet Click above to view the video Mated to a Corvette ZR1, the LS9 can get you from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, and it will travel a quarter mile in 11.3 seconds. GM Performance Parts announced earlier in the week that beginning next fall, you won't need to own a ZR1 to get your hands on an LS9. The supercharged, 638-hp beast will be available as a crate engine to put under the hood of any project car that can handle the power. The GM Performance Parts team is so excited about the crate LS9 that it shot a video of the blown small block being hand-assembled. The clip shows some of the more significant parts of the LS9's production process, as well as some of the testing performed to ensure your crate engine is up to snuff. The guys building LS9s are lightning fast at their craft, too, and we're sure most gearheads would love to have some of the equipment they use during the build process. Filed under: Aftermarket , SEMA , Tuners , Videos , Supercars , Mercedes-Benz Click above to view the video Hamann is continuing to expand its lineup to include the top tier of luxurious performance, and it looks like the tuner has finally turned its attention to the Mercedes SLR McLaren. A teaser video has been released, showing the conservatively named "Volcano" SLR sporting three-piece deep-dish wheels, two-ton paint, massive rear wheel arches, roof scoop, rear diffuser and wing. Details are limited right now, but we suspect more information will leak its way out before the SEMA show next month. In the meantime, hit the jump to view the video. Hat tip to strekov. Filed under: Aftermarket , Motorsports , SEMA , Tuners , Videos , Ford Click above to watch video after the jump Back in the first Ponycar era, a Ford Mustang packed with a Cobra Jet V8 was a mighty drag strip warrior. Better still was the Super Cobra Jet, augmenting the CJ's enhanced breathing with a stouter lower end. Either way, a 428-powered Mustang would tear off elapsed times in the high 13s - still fast today. Since the current Mustang is a headlong dive into nostalgia, it stands to reason that Ford's working up a new Cobra Jet and eyeing drag racing domination yet again. We have no details other than a video after the jump that shows an obviously tweaked Mustang making a quarter mile run at Milan Dragway in Michigan, but the actual car will be coming to SEMA very soon, so Ford Racing is likely making sure that nothing blows up once the package is offered for sale. We've sent in our resume for the job of drag-race test driver; shoot, you don't even have to steer!...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Euro , Videos , Supercars , Lamborghini , Ferrari Click above to view the video. We've said it before, but it warrants repeating: it takes a special kind of crazy to take an epic supercar like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini and tune it like you would a Mustang or even a Porsche. Fortunately, Novitec and EDO are just such a breed of crazy. We've brought you news of the former's modified Ferrari 430 Scuderias and 599 GTBs and the latter's Lamborghini Superleggera , Maserati MC12 and Audi R8 (to name just a few), but never side by side. For that, you may follow the jump and thank those zany Germans for pitting a Novitec Rosso-modified Ferrari 575M Maranello against an EDO Competition-tuned Lamborghini Gallardo. You'll need four and a half minutes to spare, but not fluency in German... "vroom" is international. Filed under: Aftermarket , Gadgets , Time Warp , I.C.E. , Videos Click above to view the video posted after the jump. Okay, Mio's Knight Rider GPS unit is now officially "hella" cool. Engadget snagged some video of the startup sequence, and we're overcome by nostalgia for 1984. We're not excited to the point where we've gone digging for vintage Le Tigre polos or pulled that zombie leather jacket (the Thriller replica, natch) out of deep closet storage, but seeing that sweeping light bar and watching the flanking LEDs twinkle to the dulcet tones of William Daniels brings back sunny memories for those of us that lived it the first time around. Even cooler is that there's a bank of 300 names to choose from, so odds are good that KITT will greet you personally - that closes the sale right there, we officially want one. Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Videos , BMW Click above to view the shoot-out between the BMW M3 and the Dinan 335i. This is a head-to-head battle we've been waiting to see: BMW's new M3 versus a Dinan-tuned 335i coupe. But we're only going to talk numbers and let the video tell the tale. The BMW 335i has proven itself as a credible player in the sports coupe segment, particularly with a tweaked ECU to extract maximum output from its twin-turbo'd 3.0-liter inline-six. Dinan announced its Stage 3 package a few months back, which includes a fully-adjustable suspension and a handful of engine mods that bring output up to 406 hp and a kidney-punishing 460 lb.-ft. of torque (at 4,300 RPM). But it doesn't come cheap. All the necessary Dinan kit to get it up to Stage 3 spec (and get that nifty badge on the boot) costs around $14,000. But compared to the $71,000 base price of the new M3, it's still a steal. While the M3 has the peak horsepower...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Videos , Supercars , Porsche Click above to see the Post-It Porsche on video When the automotive press labels the Carrera GT as one of the most notable or noteworthy Porsches in the automaker's history, we don't think this is what they had in mind. The car's owner, known as VRAlexander, had his supercar covered in post-it notes of various colors. We can think of better ways to change your car's color, but few quite so creative and entertaining. See for yourself in the video after the jump. [Source: StreetFire ] Continue reading VIDEO: The old "cover the Carrera GT with Post-It notes" trick Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Filed under: Aftermarket , Coupes , Videos , Chevrolet , GM click the picture to view the video Genuine GM Accessories are as obsessively tested as the rest of the car during the design and prototype stage. When the production tweaks are being given to the basic car, the Accessories wizards are in there too, mocking up and trying out different creative ways to offer some pizazz at the parts counter. What we're most excited about in this video is the appearance of the new Camaro with some extra goodies. You don't get to see much, but the shroud of Auburn Hills gets pulled back just enough to show off ground effects done up in clay. The rear spoiler also appears to be different, though it's never actually shown. If customized Camaros of the past are any indication, we expect the hottest item will be the big peeing "Calvin" for the rear window and those ridiculous blackout head and taillight covers - this time, they'll be available with a GM part number, w00t! Filed under: Aftermarket , Time Warp , Videos , Nissan , Ferrari click above image to view video With far more people wanting Ferraris than those who can actually afford one, replicas based on lesser donor cars are nothing new. Some are more convincing than others, and while we'd recommend a nice Corvette over a faux-rarri, once in a while there's an example that catches our attention, for better or worse. If you're in love with the 250 GTO and don't have the millions it takes to buy one, this car might be the closest you can get. Follow the jump to find footage - nicely edited footage, actually - of a 250 GTO replica based on a Datsun 240Z that's set to the rather apt soundtrack of The Who's "Won't get Fooled Again", which you may recognize from CSI. Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Videos , Supercars , Ford Click the image to view the embedded video Anything that can top out above 200 mph is a pretty fast car, but one that can do it from a standing start within a mile is an insanely fast car. This twin-turbo Ford GT modified by Jason Heffner of Heffner's Performance not only does that, but exceeds 222 mph at the one-mile mark. This thankfully wasn't done on public roads, but at the Goliad Industrial Air Park during the bi-annual Texas Mile event. The driver makes a total of four runs, starting with a 215-mph pass followed up by a 222.2-mph run. The third attempt doesn't go so well as the tires are overwhelmed by the car's torque and it goes off course into the dirt, but the fourth run is a success, and the 222 mph mark is reached again. Follow the jump to see this display of massive horsepower run amok. [Source: YouTube] Continue reading VIDEO: twin-turbo Ford GT tops 222 mph in the standing mile Read | Permalink...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Plants/Manufacturing , Videos Many adults these days have grown up with Sesame Street as a staple of their youth. The show has also introduced many children to the world of heavy machinery with their factory tour segments. You know the clips where they show detailed videos of the crayon manufacturing process? It's amazing how enthralling molten wax can be. Wouldn't it be great to see similar videos featuring aftermarket performance brands? Well it seems that Power TV has answered this heretofore unknown demand. The video sharing network has posted a shop tour series featuring inside looks at a few well known names in automotive performance. The clips show elements of design, manufacturing and quality control as they pertain to pistons, cylinder heads, exhausts, turbochargers, superchargers and even engine blueprinting. It is apparent that expensive modern technologies such as 3-D CAD software, coordinate measuring devices (CMM) and 5-axis CNC machines...
