Filed under: Trucks/Pickups , Recalls/TSBs , Safety , Crossovers/CUVs , Chrysler, LLC. , Dodge The 2008 and 2009 Dodge Ram and 2009 Dodge Journey are being recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each for a different reason. The Ram's windshield wiper motor isn't adequately protected from water, so it could fail completely due to water intrusion. Initial numbers suggest 72,138 Rams are affected. The fix is a stop at the dealership to have some vented wiper motor housings installed. Some 16,852 Dodge Journeys that do not have the optional 115-volt auxiliary power outlet are also being recalled. The unused electrical connector for that optional component could potentially cause a fire. It's the second fire-related recall for the Journey, and akin to the unused connector issue that affected the Town & Country and Grand Caravan. Dealers will remove the fuse and reroute the wiring. Full info on both recalls is available after the jump. Gallery: In the...

Filed under: Trucks/Pickups , Auction Action , Suzuki , Ferrari Click above for a gallery of the Suzuki Sambar-turned-Ferrari microtruck You're too late to buy it, but it's never too late to find out about these things. The Suzuki Sambar was the first kei truck in Japan. It could also be the first kei truck to be completely restored, customized, and fitted entirely with Ferrari badging in America. However, it's about as far from Ferrari spec as you could imagine: a 660 cc, 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine sits way back in the rear, with a pickup truck bed where you'd normally find the powerplant in an F430. It does have a ball shifter and Momo pedals, though. Even though the bidding's over, the truck didn't meet reserve (which is somewhere north of $12,800) so you can start saving for its eventual relisting. And did we mention all those Ferrari badges? Check 'em out in the gallery below. Gallery: Suzuki Sambar II Ferrari micro truck [Source: eBay ] eBay Find of the...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Trucks/Pickups , Cadillac , Lifestyle Not surprisingly, owners of the most expensive pickup truck in America tend to have lots of money themselves. According to SEMA, 71% of Cadillac Escalade EXT owners make over $100,000 per year, and they also dole out plenty of coin for aftermarket improvements. While that little nugget of knowledge doesn't come as a shocker, the fact is that the average Cadillac Escalade EXT owner spends a whopping $5,814 to customize their wreath-and-crested blingmobile, which is twice as much as the next truck on the list, the Chevy Avalanche at $2,652. Owners of the Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra and Dodge Ram all add between $819 and $1,040 on accessories for their trucks, which might indicate that these purchases were often made to do real work. Of the compact and midsize pickup segment, owners of the Honda Ridgeline spent the most on their trucks at $1,441 on average per vehicle. Somewhat predictably, the inexpensive...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Time Warp , Trucks/Pickups , Dodge , Special/Limited Editions Dodge's original Li'l Red Express trucks are now in their early 30s, and even building a clone will be an exercise in rust mitigation and parts scavenging. By the time you're done, you'll have spent enough to buy a brand new Ram. Mopar high-performance icon Mr. Norm's is doing what Chrysler can't currently manage, reviving the spirit of the original with a fully modern Red XPress Truck, using the excellent new Ram as a basis. The name has been tweaked and there's no fat-fendered bed, but the general idea is the same. Chrysler's 5.7-liter Hemi is the standard fitment, and with 380 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque, it makes a good argument. Alternatively, 6.1 liters of SRT crate Hemi will give you about 450 hp, and then there's the 426 cubic inch version of the SRT engine, which Mr. Norm's modified with forged internals and more stroke. Thus tweaked, the...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Trucks/Pickups , Chevrolet The market for the largest of non-commercial pickup trucks may still be contracting, but it remains a necessary and profitable segment for American automakers that the imports have yet to infiltrate. You can bet that General Motors, Ford and Dodge will do their utmost to keep it that way, a point proven by this spy photo of the 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500 over at PickupTrucks.com . At first glance, it might be hard to notice the differences over the current HD behemoth, but closer inspection reveals that the entire front clip has been heavily revised. The bumper has lost the huge chrome slabs that act as controversial visual bookends to the wide expanse under the grille of today's truck, which now houses rectangular fog lamps. A larger air inlet smack dab in the center of the new bumper funnels a cooling breeze to what appears to be a transmission oil cooler that may prove necessary given the huge loads that the Duramax diesel V8 will...

Filed under: Trucks/Pickups , Etc. , Chevrolet Albert Dancy Jr. of Sutton, West Virginia told his family that when he passed away, he wanted to be buried in his 1967 Chevy pickup truck. On February 15, Mr. Dancy was unfortunately shot and killed in a domestic dispute, so his son Adam gave his father the burial he always wanted. Dancy, an avid hunter and fisherman, was laid to rest in full camouflage with his beloved pickup, an Old Timer pocket knife and a Remington rifle. To ensure that the buried truck caused as little harm to the environment as possible, it was stripped of its engine and transmission, brake fluid and tires. Dancy's son said his father owned the truck for as long as he could remember, and that the unique burial was the last thing he could do for his dad. Filed under: Motorsports , Trucks/Pickups , China , Etc. , Videos , Commercial Trucks Click above to watch video after the jump A few years ago, drifting took the motorsports world by storm... and while its momentum seems to have cooled a bit, virtually everyone can appreciate the knife-edged balance of throttle and steering needed to execute a yawning slide. That appreciation has extended all the way to China, where a young man has converted his knock-kneed, skinny-tired Chang'an delivery truck into a purpose-built machine. And why not? It's rear-drive, light weight, cheap, and reasonably robust. We dig the owner's enthusiasm, as well as his ingenuity and driving skill on China's slick mountain roads and in-town roundabouts. Check out the video after the jump (complete with a nod to Japan's Initial D anime series in the soundtrack), but remember: Kids, don't try this at home with Dad's new F-150.
