Filed under: Motorsports , Sports/GTs , Euro , Supercars , Lamborghini Click above for a gallery of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo racer Ferrari does it. Porsche does it. And now, Lamborghini is going to do it, too. "It" is a single-make race series, and Lambo's will showcase a competition-spec Gallardo LP560-4 dubbed the Super Trofeo. Each race will feature 30 of the cars, piloted by deep-pocketed private owners, dealer teams, and a single, Lambo-sponsored "celebrity driver" who'll change from race-to-race. The Super Trofeo racer weighs in at 1300 kg/1866 lb and is spec'd out with all the requisite safety equipment; race-specific chassis adjustments, ABS brakes and wheels; Pirelli slicks; new instrumentation; and aero tweaks. The powered-up 5.2L direct-injected V10 sends 570 horses to all four wheels via the automaker's e.gear six-speed sequential gearbox. If you have the itch, head to your Lamborghini dealer with €200,000 -- that's the buy-in...

Luc Costermans piloted a Lamborghini Gallardo borrowed from supercar rental agency GT Drive to 192 mph on the Istres airstrip, which is a pretty amazing feat, but one that's likely to be challenged by former world record holder Mike Newman . Although they aren't in English, we have several video clips of the event for you after the jump. Filed under: Concept Cars , Sedans/Saloons , Sports/GTs , Paris Motor Show , Lamborghini Click above to view high-res gallery of Lamborghini Urus teaser shots Lamborghini has already released two official teaser shots of the concept it will debut early next month at the Paris Motor Show . InsideLine originally speculated that it would be a four-door sedan along the likes of the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide, but Lambo told us the website was just guessing and that no company execs had leaked the concept's layout. Nevertheless, Automotive News is now reporting that its own inside sources confirm the bullish concept will indeed be one of them new fangled four-door "coupes", while a carspyshots.net forum member found some copyright evidence that Lamborghini may called it the Urus. Wikipedia tells us that the Urus was a type of large, horned cattle in Europe that went extinct in 1627. Though what we're calling the Urus will debut as a concept in Paris, AN reports...

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Paris Motor Show , Lamborghini Click above image to enlarge the new Lamborghini teaser Lamborghini continues the striptease of its mystery car's upcoming Paris debut . Is it a four-door ultrasedan, as speculated by Inside Line ? Is it something more... super? Whatever it is, we'll all know on October 2. In the meantime, have a gander at some sleek fender and wheel action, complete with a side vent adorned with the Italian colors. The fender vent would seem to indicate a front-engined car, so we're liking the Inside Line take very much at the moment. Continue your rampant speculation in the comments. Filed under: Sports/GTs , Paris Motor Show , Supercars , Lamborghini , Rumormill , Special/Limited Editions Click above to enlarge Lamborghini got us all up in a twist with the revelation of this small teaser image that shows only an exhaust and a diffuser on a new model slated for unveiling in a couple of weeks at the Paris Motor Show . While previous reports postulated that Lamborghini was preparing to unveil a four-door model, the latest suggest, somewhat more credibly, that the new vehicle is actually the Superveloce version of the Murcielago LP640 . Like the Reventon, the Superveloce may command a considerable premium at 382,400 euros (almost double the price of the regular Murcielago) and could be offered in extremely limited numbers of just 100 units. In return, buyers will get an exclusive lightweight supercar with styling inspired by the Reventon and an additional 30-40 horsepower on tap. When it becomes available sometime next year as a 2010 model, the LP640 SV will likely be...

Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Etc. , Supercars , Lamborghini One-third of American Top Gear , Tanner Foust, spent a day in the Lamborghini Reventon, and here's his verdict: "Thumbs up big girl!" The fractional bit of additional horsepower didn't mean much to him, but he did say the brakes were more capable, and, surprise, the car is quite wide and people like to stare at it. After six hours on Italy's B-roads, that basically sums up his impressions. Since he didn't have too much to say in print, we really do hope he's saving the zingers for the show... Filed under: Concept Cars , Time Warp , Sports/GTs , Supercars , Lamborghini , Misc. Auto Shows Click above for high-res gallery of the featured Lamborghinis at Pebble While Pebble Beach is perhaps best known as a place to honor classic American and European cars, sports cars have always held a special place in the hearts of the Concours committee and judges. With 45 years under its belt, Lamborghini is certainly deserving of a special place on both counts. As a featured marque here at Pebble, Lamborghini was extremely well represented with a selection of exquisite rare examples. Nine vehicles were on display being judged by 40-year test pilot Valentino Balboni among others. The lineup of seldom-seen Lambos included the earliest known Lamborghini 350GT , the earliest known Miura , the earliest Miura SV , the Miura Roadster fresh from a yearlong restoration that swapped its army green paint for the correct blue metalflake, a 350GTS , 350GTZ by Zagato, an early LP400 Countach , and three...

Filed under: Car Buying , Sports/GTs , Supercars , Lamborghini Click above for high-res gallery of the Gallardo LP560 - 4 Some folks out there simply refuse to buy a new automobile off the showroom floor. They cannot bring themselves to fork over the funds for an item that depreciates in value so quickly after pulling away from the dealer's lot. The world of certified used cars arose for these frugal minded individuals. Certified used cars offer sufficient warranty coverage, enough miles on the odometers to assure that they are not lemons and little to none of the instant investment nose dive. Now Lamborghini is joining the ranks of manufacturers offering pre-owned vehicles through its dealership network so wealthy super tight wads can feel a little bit better about splurging for a Lambo. This will also make it easier for those who have to be seen in the latest and greatest to trade up from old to new models. The program begins in July and extends to all Gallardo and Murcielago models...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Coupes , Sports/GTs , Supercars , Lamborghini Click above for hi-res shots of STRUT's Gallardo collection Has that yellow Lamborghini Gallardo been sitting on the lawn for a while because it's simply not getting you the attention you want? Or have all those other LP560-4 owners made it too hard for you to use the Phone Number Collecting Set ? If so, STRUT could have just the right bit of jazz to put the rage back in your bull. An 11-piece accessory kit in carbon fiber and steel includes grilles for the front, side, and rear intakes, and the engine cover and bumper vents, as well as a STRUT shield for the front of the car. According to STRUT, the accessories give the Lambo "a disctinct, personalized appearance," because pulling up to the party in a Gallardo just wasn't distinctive enough. The price of personalization: $25,000 for the basic set, $35,000 if you gotta be a baller and choose the titanium edition. And no, that doesn't include...

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Euro , Supercars , Lamborghini Click above for high-res gallery of new pics of the LP560-4 Lamborghini just released pricing info on the new Gallardo LP560-4, at least for the UK. Not too thrilling to those of us on this side of the puddle maybe, but there was more to the release. Along with the price information, you see, Lamborghini released a bunch of new high-res pics of its refreshed supercar in action (previous pics were only studio shots). We have been smitten with the new Gallardo since seeing it in person at the Geneva Motor Show . It takes the basic Gallardo shape and adds just the right tweaks to make it instantly sharper and more modern, especially at the rear where the vertical tail has been lowered and widened to make the car look much more capable of tackling the twisties. And that isn't an optical illusion, either. With its 50% new chassis, all-new suspension and engine, it should be a world-beater. Horsepower has jumped to 560 and its slightly...

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Lamborghini Click the Islero for a high-res gallery For a car fan it's always cool to be wandering around somewhere and stumble across an extremely rare automobile. That's especially when it's out on the road in a most unlikely of locales. My wife and I took a little road trip this weekend in the new Saab Turbo X (you'll be hearing more about that soon!) to Yellow Springs, Ohio. For those unfamiliar with Yellow Springs, it's a small town northeast of Dayton that is home to Antioch College and Dave Chappelle. As we were walking to get some dinner, I noticed a very red coupe with an extraordinarily long hood. It looked vaguely familiar, but I knew I had never seen one in the metal before. I grabbed my camera and started shooting away. It turns out the car was a GT known as the Lamborghini Islero. Isleros were built in 1968 and 69 following the end of the 400GT run and preceding the Jarama. Unfortunately for Lamborghini, the rather sedately-styled...

Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Marketing/Advertising , Videos , Supercars , Lamborghini , Lifestyle When Jaguar's "Gorgeous" campaign TV ads came out a few years back with the XK, some ad critics questioned the none-too-subtle message they contained: older, distinguished gentleman gets to frolic with beautiful young women when he drives this car. Whether or not that's the case -- concerning the ad or in real life -- a new Lamborghini commercial with Sam Hubinette takes that same riff and, being Lamborghini, pushes it even further. Hubinette and some wet, downtown LA roads show what the car can do, and the spot also shows what the car has. Boasting "features like no other," the first one of which is a Phone Number Collecting Set that appears to specialize in tall brunettes, the car also has an Anti-Boredom Assistant (that engine, a Talk of the Town Guarantee, and a Gets Into All Clubs function0. And that's all before you order it in Giallo Halys (that's...

Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Etc. , Supercars , Lamborghini , Motorcycles This tractor Gallardo-trailer combination was been spotted somewhere in the wilds of Miami Beach. If there were any allowable reason to put a trailer hitch on your $180K coupe, this could be one of them. The dandelion yellow Lambo is pulling a custom trailer with matching wheels, and that trailer is holding a Lamborghini-badged (but obviously custom) chopper. And even though we're not a fan of yellow cars... this little combo is pretty sweet. Thanks for the tip, Philippe! [Source: Top Speed ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Etc. , Marketing/Advertising , Supercars , Dodge , Lamborghini He usually spends his time behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger, but recently Samuel Hübinette made an exchange for something with a lower roofline. Lamborghini asked him to take a seat in a 2009 Gallardo for the filming of a European-market commercial set on the streets of Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Blowing tire smoke for the camera is nothing new to Sam since his blue Mopar-mobile has been featured in many a BF Goodrich tire commercial. Unlike the Charger though, the Gallardo isn't quite the towering elephant. It is also equipped with all wheel drive, a feature that requires a bit more driving finesse in order to pull off an extended slide. Look for the spot to hit YouTube sometime in the not too distant future. Also follow the link to see a few more of Sam's photos from filming. Thanks for the tip, Eric! Filed under: Spy Photos , Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Supercars , Lamborghini Remember Lamborghini's pledge to attend each major auto show with a new product? Pretty ambitious, but by and large the exotic Italian carmaker has lived up to its promise. In unveiling the LP560-4 , the revised version of the Gallardo, Lamborghini opened up a whole new range of possibilities, and we're expecting new Spyder and possibly Superleggera models to follow at coming shows. The former is likely to be the first to make its debut. While modifying a vehicle - especially one with such dynamic excellence as the Gallardo - to drop its top is a time-consuming affair, remember that the outgoing Gallardo on which the LP560-4 is based had its own Spyder version, so we wouldn't expect too long a development period. Still, the Paris show in October could be a bit soon, so we might have to wait a while longer to see the new Spyder. In the meantime, we've got a very... different video of the new Gallardo...
