Filed under: SUVs , Euro , Porsche , Special/Limited Editions Porsche Cayenne Design Edition 3 - Click above for high-res image gallery Like the Porsche Cayman S Design Edition 1 and Boxster S Design Edition 2 before it, the Cayenne GTS Design Edition 3 shows off what German automaker's industrial design shop can do. The Cayenne version continues the trend set by the Cayman S and Boxster S with special dark striping on the doors and hood that subtly contrasts with the unique Lava Grey Metallic paint color. The 21-inch SportPlus wheels are also cast in the same dark color and feature this spokes through which the GTS' braking hardware can be viewed. A roof spoiler, tinted glass and special "Porsche Design Edition 3" badging round out the exterior accouterments. The interior is finished with lots of carbon fiber trim, black leather and contrasting red stitching, while more "Porsche Design Edition 3" branding can be found on the tach face, door sill and a placard...

Filed under: Porsche , Lifestyle We recently took a trip to Porsche's bespoke museum at the Porscheplatz in Stuttgart, and we heartily recommend the trip. However, if things are conspiring to keep you from visiting the pyramid of Porsche's history, then allow us to recommend a virtual tour via interactive floorplans, courtesy of Wallpaper . There are 25 photos from the various floors (almost as beautiful the ones in our gallery below) highlighting the museum's more dramatic locations. Put on your sunglasses, have some wurstsalat and lemonade while you watch, and it will be just like being in Baden-Wurttemburg. Filed under: Sedans/Saloons , Sports/GTs , Tech , Porsche Porsche Panamera - Click above for high-res image gallery of tech briefing The new Panamera is without doubt one of the two most controversial vehicles ever to come from Porsche, the other, of course, being the Cayenne. While traditional Porsche fans howled at the idea of an SUV coming from the "sportscar maker," this time around, the problem is not so much the premise of a four-door, four-passenger Porsche, but rather the car's styling. Porsche is no stranger to controversy surrounding its new models. In fact, the German automaker seems to thrive on the divisiveness. Some of the cars that purists have complained about most bitterly have been among its best sellers. Much of the same whining heard about the Cayenne and Panamera accompanied the introduction of the front-engine, water-cooled 924 and 928 in the '70s, and to a lesser extent, even the transition of the 911 from air to water cooling. The Panamera won't...

Filed under: Etc. , Government/Legal , Porsche It's a toss-up when trying to figure out what's more stupid, joyriding employees or a Porsche owner who thinks Circuit City is the best place to perform an audio installation on a 911 Turbo. Luke Liang left his 2008 911 Turbo at the Bridgewater, New Jersey Circuit City store for audio system work, but seeing the Weissach-crested key hanging from a hook was too much for store employee Brian Murphy, who ignored store policy and took the Porsche for a spin. The joyride didn't last long, coming to a halt in the parking lot after Murphy nailed a curb. Liang sued the store, claiming the stunt driving escapade destroyed a wheel and tire, broke suspension parts, and resulted in scratches. The damage has also dinged the value of his 997 by $50,000, Liang says. It's unclear what's going to happen now that Circuit City has gone belly up and the store's closed, but we're guessing that Liang's learned the hard way that it's...

Filed under: Sports/GTs , Etc. , Euro , Porsche As if Porsche's Panamera isn't already strange enough, the European options list will apparently include some items you'd never imagine on a car from Zuffenhausen. When you think about it, though, a trailer hitch isn't the most far-fetched thing you might want on your Panamera. After all, the S version is going to have plenty of grunt to drag that Tabbert Paganini all over The Continent, and other high-end sedans are fitted with hitches, so why not the Panamera? After all, it's not like you're trying to turn a 911 into a Peterbilt, but then again, isn't this what the well-heeled buy Cayennes for? Thanks for the tip, Michael! Filed under: Spy Photos , SUVs , Porsche Porsche's Cayenne is starting to show its age. With the arrival of the Panamera, it's no longer the most controversial looking vehicle in the company's product portfolio, though its road-scorching edge remains undiminished in turbo form. A new Cayenne is coming in gas, diesel , and hybrid flavors , and a fresh spy shot has surfaced showing what may well be the reshaped keister of the next model. It's got a bit of Volkswagen in it, maybe, but check those wheels and the way the lower valance is a diffusery thing - very Porsche-esque. If it is the Cayenne, this next generation might actually look okay while it continues to defy physics. Before we get too vitriolic, the Cayenne's volume has helped make 911s and Caymans possible - and for that, we say thank you.
