Maserati and American Express have just announced a special edition Quattroporte that features the AE Centurion logo in several strategic locations on the car. This limited edition model is officially known as the Maserati Quattroporte for Centurion special series. Presented to AE Black cardholders in the U.K., the exclusive sedan will be available in left- and right-hand drive, and in any color so long as it's black Nero Carbonio (carbon black). As the p ost-jump press release tells us, it features a bespoke Bianco Polare (polar white) Poltrona Frau (we looked it up, it's an upscale Italian furniture maker) leather interior with an embossed Centurion logo on the headrests, a dash plaque, titanium colo(u)red trim and 20-inch polished...

Filed under: Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Rumormill Corroborating what we've already known for some time is a new Motor Trend article that confirms a drophead version of Maserati's voluptuous GranTurismo coupe is on the way. However, what is news is that MT is reporting that the car will likely be dubbed "Cabriolet" and not "Spider," largely because the convertible is expected to keep its 2+2 seating, and the latter has been historically reserved for two-place models. MT believes that the car will carry the 433-horsepower 4.7-liter V8 engine and six-speed ZF automatic gearbox sourced from the Quattroporte Sport GT S , as the GranTurismo S ' automanual is considered to be too out-of-character for soft-top motoring. Regardless of what drivetrain arrives contained therein, MT recons the Maser Cabrio will probably debut at next year's Geneva Motor Show , a full year later than earlier reports indicated . Filed under: Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Maserati Click above for a high-resolution gallery of the Maserati GranTurismo For an automaker with only two model lines, Maserati is certainly keeping busy. One of a handful of luxury carmakers to improve its sales figures in 2008, the Trident marque is undoubtedly looking to build upon its growth with an eye towards setting yet another sales record. Fortunately that push is product-driven, prompting Modena to improve upon its already-mouthwatering offerings and give us something new to drool over, too. First up is the Quattroporte GTS , the sportiest version yet of Maserati's performance luxury sedan , which debuted at the Detroit show and goes on sale next month. That will reportedly be followed by a similarly-equipped version of its two-door counterpart. Called the GranTurismo GTS, we can't help but wonder if it was named by someone with a stutter... or maybe by former UN sec-gen Boutros Boutros-Ghali. Naming aside, the high-spec GranTurismo...

Filed under: Etc. , Maserati Click above to view Tatana Kucharova with the Maserati Quattroporte S in our gallery Unspeakably gorgeous. And the girl's not bad looking, either. Between their spokesmodel/racing driver Jodie Kidd (our idea of a dream woman if we've ever had one) and those models standing in elegant evening gowns at its auto show stands, Maserati seems to attract the most beautiful women to its cars like a sale at the Prada boutique. Add to that list one Tatana Kucharova, the Czech model who, by our reckoning, was a very deserving recipient of the Miss World crown in 2006 and now graces our eyes with her amorous poses by the new Maserati Quattroporte S. We liked the car when we drove it this past summer too, but for some reason we like it even more now. Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Recalls/TSBs , Safety , Supercars , Maserati , Alfa Romeo Turns out the Alfa Romeo 8C - or the U.S. verson of it, at least - isn't perfect after all. Due to an incorrect torque setting on the front and rear suspension upper and lower ball joint nuts, Maserati is recalling 7,912 vehicles in the U.S. They include the 8Cs that have made it over here (thought to number 88), as well as GranTurismos and Quattroportes from the 2008 model year. If unchecked, the ball joint nuts will come loose, and that will cause problems ranging from steering wheel vibration to separation of the steering arm. That, unsurprisingly, "could result in a loss of steering capability," which usually leads to a crash. The recall should begin next month, and you can get in touch with Maserati to find out more at 1-201-816-2600. Filed under: Detroit Auto Show , Sedans/Saloons , Sports/GTs , Maserati Click above for high-res image gallery of the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S Maserati says that its new Quattroporte Sport GT S "sets another milestone in terms of sportiness in the high performance luxury sedan segment," and it also appears to be trying to set a record for one car's syllable allotment. Suitable then that it takes more than just a couple of changes to be able to append that "S" to the regular Quattroporte Sport GT. Torque remains the same, but the 4.8-liter V8 is cranks out 433 hp, eight ponies over the regular model. And you get that horsepower a tad later - the engine's rev limit is 7,200 rpm, but you won't get every one of those ponies in action until 7,000 rpm. The transmission software has also been recalibrated for more engaging shifts in three different modes. The suspension has been lowered, stiffened, and imbued with passive damping for higher cornering speeds...
