Filed under: Coupes , Chevrolet , GM Of all the places for Chevy reveal the 2010 Camaro SS , it's chosen a GM-sponsored photo spread for Conde Nast . The free supplement's zeitgeist is "Fashion Rocks" and in keeping with the theme, they've chosen the decidedly un-rocking Fergie as the musical icon to accompany the Camaro SS on glossy stock. Comparing the image above with the pictures Chevrolet released last month , you can clearly see the SS badging, deeper fascia and upgraded brakes, reported to be sized 14-inches up front and clamped by calipers by Brembo. The Camaro SS will be packing a 422 hp (estimated), 6.2-liter V8 and will go on sale in March of next year, along with the V6 RS models. Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet , GM , Misc. Auto Shows Click the above image for a hi-res gallery of the RC-painted Camaro The British are good for all sorts of car-centric goodness. When they're not busy building zippy little monsters remarkably ill-suited to their weather, they're... making art. English artist Ian Cook took a few remote controlled cars, drove them through paint, and then used them to paint a Camaro. Called "Popbang Color" and on display now at the British International Motor Show , Ian even used GM RC cars to create the paintings. Next up will be a live demonstration of him painting a Chevrolet Lacetti World Touring Car, which requires, says Ian, "skill with the remote control cars." After that he'll be painting Autobots Playing Poker... (we kid...) Check out the full press release after the jump, and the hi-res images below. Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet , GM , Australia Click above for high-res gallery of the Camaro's Melbourne reveal While General Motors debuted the 2010 Chevy Camaro in Detroit and L.A. on Monday, they also gave it a proper debut in Australia where much of the car's development work was performed. The General just published some new pictures from the car's Melbourne debut in which the new Camaro poses for the camera with a second generation model, two third generation models, a fourth gen and a very cherry 1969 Camaro SS owned by reigning V8 Supercar champion Garth Tander. Those pics plus GM's own shots that were taken at the live reveal in Detroit have been added to the first gallery below, beneath which we've included our own updated gallery of live shots from the Detroit reveal that includes images of the car after it was driven outside. Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Chevrolet , GM Click above for high-res gallery of 2010 Chevy Camaro live! GM design chief Ed Welburn and Chevy General Manager Ed Peper just gave the media our first up close and in person look at the new 2010 Chevy Camaro coupe. The reveal was done in the mechanical prep shop that GM design uses for the final prep on all its concept cars. Peper announced that Job 1 for the new Camaro will be coming on Feb. 16 of next year, and although no official pricing is available yet it will be priced aggressively says GM brass. That aggression goes right along with the new looks and powertrain choices for this new coupe, as well. Chevrolet will offer the Camaro in 3 trim levels, the V6-powered LS and LT and the V8-powered SS. The V6 is a direct injected 300-hp 3.6L unit while the 422-hp V8 displaces 6.2L. Both engines will be available with either manual or automatic transmissions, all with 6 speeds. An RS package will be available as an add-on to to the LT and...

Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Videos , Chevrolet , GM Click above for high-res gallery of the 2010 Chevy Camaro As you may already know after the deluge of official Camaro images that leaked last week, General Motors will finally be unveiling the 2010 Chevy Camaro at 4PM EST today at its Warren Technical Center, and we'll have a team of two on hand for live coverage with pics and video of our own. GM will also be webcasting the live reveal and has provided the embed code free of charge so you can watch what is arguably an historic debut right here on Autoblog. If all goes well on GM's end, you'll be able to watch the unveiling live at 4:00 PM EST at this link on Autoblog. Go set an alarm right now, we'll wait... We'll have all the pics, specs and video you can digest shortly thereafter, as well as our take on whether the new Camaro has what it takes to make it in the face of high gas prices and competition from the new Dodge Challenger and an updated 2010 Ford Mustang...

Frankly, it was getting anti-climactic before the official photos leaked onto the web on Friday afternoon, but we'll look forward to hopefully seeing the SS car in the metal. That one's been conspicuously absent from all the photos that crammed the internet as soon as the dam burst. Anyway, whether you go for an RS with that punchy DI V6, or the SS with its LS3 power, chances are you'll be a happy camper. So, to celebrate, we've gone and collected all the Camaro television commercials (and one 1980s promo video) we...

Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Chevrolet , GM Click above for gallery of the 2010 Camaro hauling The high price of petrol is causing people to do some pretty crazy things, but after seeing these photos of a Camaro pulling a U-Haul on public roads, we're hoping pickup trucks don't become that bad on gas that one would consider using a muscle car as a mule. An astute photographer nabbed a couple shots of the long-awaited 2010 Camaro as it was helping someone move or delivering the AllSpark to Optimus Prime . While performance coupes probably aren't the best choice for pulling cargo, at least the Camaro's 6.0L V8 has been quite the hauler for GM, albeit under the hood of trucks and SUVs. Thanks for the tip, Matt Bateman. Gallery: 2010 Camaro U-Haul [Source: Picasa ] Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Filed under: Etc. , Chevrolet , GM , Celebrities Click above for a photo gallery courtesy of AB reader Aleks Witko Thanks to reader Aleks Witko, who sent in the enclosed shots of the SS-ified (but certainly not sissified) 2008 edition of Bumblebee. The Transformers crew was shooting scenes at Drexel University in Philly, and Aleks scored some nice overhead shots of the car down on the street below. (One nice thing about movie sets: the lighting's going to be good.) Even better (for him), he reports, " Lucky for me, I also got to meet Megan Fox." Lucky, indeed. Filed under: Economy , Etc. , Marketing/Advertising , Hatchbacks , Chevrolet , GM You know how there was a question of whether or not we'd ever see the Chevy Beat for sale in North America? The answer to that question is looking more like a big fat yes. Of course, a subcompact like the Beat makes perfect sense in a landscape where gas is selling for well over $4 a gallon in many areas. Our quasi-confirmation comes not from El Generalissimo, however, but from the set of Transformers 2 , which was recently given its tagline: Revenge of the Fallen . In the photo above, next to Bumblebee, is the Chevy Beat -- partially covered, but the Beat nonetheless. You know what putting it in the movie does, right? It makes people want it. Last summer, it was the Camaro. Next summer, it looks like GM's gonna make the Beat a big star. You can see the above photo and more from the set at the Transformers Live Action Movie Blog . Filed under: Concept Cars , Coupes , Etc. , GM , Pontiac , Holden , Australia Coupes seem to be somewhat resurgent lately, and the stupendously awesome Pontiac G8 GXP might be set to lose a pair of doors. While that would make it essentially a repeat of what came here as a revived GTO not too long ago, the name is not likely to return. The basic idea has been outlined in the Holden Coupe 60 , itself starting out as an updated GTO, but turning out much cooler. The neo-ponycar wars will require the fitment of the 400 horsepower LS3 to run with the Shelby GT500KR , Challenger , and cousin Camaro . The newly unveiled G8 GXP serves as the benchmark for what this coupe will likely come equipped with. That means big 19-inch wheels, uprated suspension, a meaner fascia and, most importantly, an available Tremec six-speed manual transmission. There should be a GT version, too, with "only" 361 horsepower, which should still offer a significant kick in the pants for less cash. The biggest...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Coupes , Videos , Chevrolet , GM click the picture to view the video Genuine GM Accessories are as obsessively tested as the rest of the car during the design and prototype stage. When the production tweaks are being given to the basic car, the Accessories wizards are in there too, mocking up and trying out different creative ways to offer some pizazz at the parts counter. What we're most excited about in this video is the appearance of the new Camaro with some extra goodies. You don't get to see much, but the shroud of Auburn Hills gets pulled back just enough to show off ground effects done up in clay. The rear spoiler also appears to be different, though it's never actually shown. If customized Camaros of the past are any indication, we expect the hottest item will be the big peeing "Calvin" for the rear window and those ridiculous blackout head and taillight covers - this time, they'll be available with a GM part number, w00t! Filed under: Spy Photos , Coupes , Chevrolet , GM Click above for more high-res pics It's been two weeks since we've found new spy shots of uncovered Chevy Camaro prototypes, but the enthusiasts over at Canaro5 have released 17 new pics of the pony car with a bow-tie. The photos have a February time-stamp and are taken from the same location as the last spy shots we published, but there are plenty of close-ups and new angles this time around. While some details like headlights and some trim components are not production-ready, the sheet metal is pretty much 100% authentic, and looking pretty damn good if we may be so bold. The side view of the Camaro pictured above is just dead-sexy, and in Ebony this fine filly looks like it can eat lesser transportation for breakfast. It's nice to see a prototype roaming public streets without the hideous camo, and crisp photos and accommodating engineers are a lot better than what we've seen in the past. The only bad part is that we have...

Filed under: Coupes , Sports/GTs , Videos , Chevrolet , GM Click above to view video Unlike a number of other drugs, the great thing about 2010 Camaro sightings is that you cannot OD on them. With that in mind, we bring you a lengthy Camaro video, this time of a black car being trailed by an "official" camera car. The great thing about this video is that it comes with its own theme music, and the great thing about that is that you know you're going to hear this song coming out of a lot of Camaros when they hit the streets next year. Maybe they'll even offer loudspeakers in the grill as an option so you can blast it on the way to Dairy Queen. We like the song and the car, and as we said when we reviewed the Camaro Convertible concept : we'll take it in black with black wheels, please. To see the feast for eyes and ears, follow the jump for the video. Gallery: 2009 Chevy Camaro - spy shots Gallery: 2009 Chevy Camaro - spy shots II [Source: Streetfire ] Continue reading...
