  • VIDEO: 2010 Chevy Equinox inside and out

Filed under: Videos , Crossovers/CUVs , Chevrolet , GM Click above to watch video after the jump The 2010 Chevy Equinox looks to be a far more sophisticated vehicle than the crossover it replaces. It will be powered by a choice of two direct injection engines, with the four-cylinder model able to crest 30 mpg on the highway and the new 3.0L V6 packing 255 horsepower. Chevy's new crossover also adds upgraded aesthetics with expressive, modern headlamps and tail lights, the new corporate Chevy grille and a more muscular stance. On the inside, the Equinox also looks very Malibu with a sweeping, double cockpit and a center stack that looks as good as any in the segment. We had a chance to get down and dirty with the all-new Equinox at the GM Design Center last week, and the video evidence of our trip is available after the jump for your high-def, widescreen viewing pleasure. • In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse LT

Filed under: In the Autoblog Garage , Crossovers/CUVs , Chevrolet , GM Click above for high-res gallery of the 2009 Chevy Traverse LT After months of reviewing only family-oriented transportation, this particular blogger began a streak of judging high-horsepower sports coupes. It's damn near impossible to complain about something with more power than anyone should ever need, but after a while my family got tired of trying to shoehorn five-year-old twins into the cramped back seat of a coupe. That's why we were most relieved to see that the 2009 Chevy Traverse was ready for a run in the Autoblog Garage. The Traverse is the latest though maybe not last Lambda crossover, and since it dons General Motors' high volume Bow Tie badging, it's likely the most significant, as well. It is GM's least expensive eight-passenger crossover while also carrying the distinction of being the most efficient and most powerful Lambda. Does that make the Traverse the best of GM's Lambda...
  • GM axes small crossover plans, Asian compact coming instead

Filed under: Economy , Crossovers/CUVs , Chevrolet , GM Click above for a high-res gallery of the Chevy Orlando concept When GM and the UAW agreed to a new contract in 2007, several new models and the plants in which they would be built were agreed on. Drastic shifts in customer tastes are changing those plans rapidly, and the General is scrambling to deliver. GM was planning to build a seven-seat crossover based off its global Delta small car platform at the Detroit Hamtramck plant next year, but the Wall Street Journal is now reporting that the vehicle will no longer be produced for the US market. The small MPV, which is being unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in concept form as the Chevy Orlando , will still be available in Europe where small seven-seaters are much more popular than here in the States. The small crossover will instead be replaced by a compact vehicle from Asia, possibly the Chevy Beat . However, GM never designed the Beat to meet U.S. crash-test standards, but hopefully...
  • Chevy Orlando Concept reveals its rear

Filed under: Concept Cars , Paris Motor Show , Crossovers/CUVs , Chevrolet Click the image above for a hi-res gallery of the Chevy Orlando The Chevy Orlando , due to be revealed at next month's Paris Motor Show , has turned tail and the rendering doesn't look half-bad. It's mildly reminiscent of the Audi A2 from way back when, in an exaggerated, chunked-up way, and we get a little Volvo feeling from the sculpted area of the rear lights. Overall, we give it a thumbs up. The Orlando is a compact seven-seater, and the dip in the rear roofline means that those last to occupants might need to be especially compact. However, the intended audience is probably not the local WNBA team, so the kids should fit just fine. With a hot front and rear, and an interior that nearly qualifies as dreamy, this is the kind of thing we're looking forward to checking out in the flesh. Stay tuned for Paris... • VIDEO: Chevy Traverse takes on Toyota Highlander inside and out

Filed under: Videos , Crossovers/CUVs , Chevrolet , Toyota Click above for a gallery of high-res pics. When the 2009 Chevy Traverse goes on sale in September, it will be the fourth, eight-passenger Lambda-based crossover to come from GM. The bow-tie CUV will carry the lowest starting MSRP of the quartet, and it will also carry the most power, with 288 hp and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, along with the highest towing capacity of 5,200 lbs. Hit the jump to view several comparison videos that pit the Traverse against one of its main competitors, the Toyota Highlander. The first video is a walk-around of the Traverse to point out unique styling points, and from there it's all competition. We judge everything from the interior volume to the driving experience, and then take the two CUVs into uncharted territory -- the track. Enjoy! • Compact, seven-seat Chevy crossover coming to the U.S.

Filed under: Minivans/MPVs , Euro , Crossovers/CUVs , Chevrolet , GM , Saturn While GM's new labor contract with the UAW has been out for some time , it took some snooping on the part of Automotive News to find out that one of the models set to be produced at the General's Hamtramck, Mich. plant will be a new seven-seat people mover. The imaginative codename for the new model is the MPV-7, which will find inspiration from the next generation Opel Zafira. According to AN 's sources, it will sport a more manly exterior, with a box shape to make room for a "unique interior." The minivan replacement will carry a Chevrolet emblem at first, with a Saturn-badged variant to follow. Pricing is expected to be in the upper-$20k to $30,000 realm and GM plans to sell 100,000 units annually, both in the U.S. and Europe. If Ford decides to bring over a version of its S-Max from the UK, this could be the beginning of a competitive segment here in the States. [Source: Automotive News...
