Filed under: Convertibles , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Ford Click above to view the Ford Focus CC in high resolution Ford took the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show to display the latest variant of the European Focus that we wish we could get in the good ol' US of A, the Pininfarina-built Focus Coupe-Cabriolet. As we reported one month ago in the wind-up to the big show, the Focus CC takes the battle to its European rivals with a folding hardtop, stiffened body and engines ranging from 100 to 145hp, with a 136hp diesel thrown in there too. Until Ford decides to bring it over the Atlantic, you can look but you can't touch in the gallery below, and read the press release after the jump. Filed under: Convertibles , Coupes , Hybrids/Alternative , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Audi Click the image above for a high-res gallery of the Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro. Audi has been on a diesel-fueled kick in the last couple of months, first with the unveiling of the R8 V12 TDI concept in Detroit and then followed earlier today by the R8 V12 TDI Le Mans . Both pieces of oil-burning exotica stoke the flames in our diesel-desiring hearts (through compression ignition), but they remain - for the time being - unobtainium. However, Audi maintains that diesel power and driving prowess aren't mutually exclusive, so to prove the point, Audi unveiled the TT 2.0 TDI Quattro. The iconic coupe and roadster are both equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo diesel producing 170 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, with power transmitted through a six-speed manual gearbox and through Audi's legendary Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Puttering along on the U.S. combined cycle in the coupe will net you 44.3 mpg...

Filed under: Aftermarket , Tuners , Convertibles , Economy , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Supercars , Mercedes Benz , SMART , Brabus Click image for a hi-res gallery of the Brabus SLR and its tender Megayachts usually come with fancy tenders , so why not supercars, too? BRABUS has taken the idea and run with it, pairing one of its tuned McLaren SLR Roadsters with a matching runabout in the form of a smart fortwo-based ULTIMATE 112. The SLR is the beneficiary of the usual complement of upgrades, including a full body and trim kit (dig those carbon fiber replacement "gills"), a custom interior, and the requisite underhood tweaking, which bestows the roadster with 650 horsepower -- enough to make the Kessel run to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, with a top end of 211 mph. When its time to park the super-Merc and head into more constrained areas of the city, it's occupants can switch over to the car's ULTIMATE 112 "tender" which is finished and appointed to perfectly...

Filed under: Convertibles , Coupes , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Alfa Romeo Click on the images to view in high resolution Alfa fans have been a bit disappointed that the Italian automaker reportedly decided to push back the debut of the highly anticipated upcoming Junior model past the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, and Bertone's unveiling of the BAT 11 concept remains up in the air , but just the same, Alfa Romeo will have plenty to show us next week. In addition to debuting the production - and we use that term loosely, considering only 500 will be made - version of the 8C Spider , Alfa will be unveiling updated versions of its unspeakably gorgeous Brera and Spider models. Thankfully, the Italians know better than to attempt improving on a masterpiece, so Alfa hasn't messed with the award-winning design to any great extent. The wheels, brake calipers and suspension components have been replaced with lighter-weight aluminum versions, which should help address the cars' lamentably...

Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Renault Wildfire rumors that Renault is preparing to launch an unspecified "desirable" concept car at the upcoming Geneva show, alongside the new Koleos crossover, have had fuel added. Patrick Pelata, the French automaker's product planning exec-veep, confirmed that Renault is working on a new sportscar. "Think Mazda MX-5 or even Smart Roadster and you are on the right lines", said Pelata in a recent interview. If previous reports hold their water, the small roadster will have more content than the previous bare-bones Renault Sport Spider , and could feature a mid-mounted turbocharged engine driving the rear wheels. Reviving the Alpine name, the new model is also expected to be just the first of a new line-up of sportscars that would capitalize on Renault's success in Formula One. Meanwhile marketing chief Stephen Norman revealed that the company is also working on a new flagship...

Filed under: Convertibles , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Ford click above to view high-res gallery of the Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet Having already taken the wraps off the more conventional four-door sedan, three- and five-door hatchbacks and wagon body-styles in Frankfurt , Ford of Europe is preparing to unveil its new hard-top convertible version of the new European Focus. Unfortunately, this model won't be available in the US market, so we'll have to settle for the images Ford has released of the new Focus CC until we bring you the live shots from the Geneva show floor next month. The CC also joins the ST hot-hatch and the upcoming RS in the new Euro Focus line-up. Like its predecessor, Ford of Europe's new Focus Coupé-Cabriolet is being built in Bairo, Italy, by Pininfarina. The drop-top Focus boasts a stiff body to maintain handling integrity and class-leading luggage space over rivals like the Peugeot 308 CC and Volkswagen Eos, regardless of whether the roof is up...

Filed under: Convertibles , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Mercedes Benz click above for more high-res images of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL Today, Mercedes-Benz officially released details regarding the 2009 SL-class, photos of which escaped onto the web last week. In addition to its updated exterior styling, which you can see for yourself in the attached gallery, the hard-shell droptop adds a new entry model for Europe -- the 231-horsepower SL 280. On top of that, the SL 350 gains power (now 316 horses) while improving overall fuel economy. The other engines are carryovers -- the 388-horse V8 in the SL 500 and the monstrous 517-HP twin-turbo V12 in the SL 600. The flagship 600 is distinguishable from its lesser kin via unique 18" wheels and the matte-finish "gills" aft of the front wheel well. Also new for the SL is MB's direct-steer system, which was introduced on the new SLK and also recently made its way into the warmed-over CLC. Improved lighting is standard and the optional...

Filed under: Concept Cars , Convertibles , Hybrids/Alternative , Geneva Motor Show , Euro , Green The Loremo sedan (LOw REsistance MObile) isn't even here yet -- it's slated for 2009 -- and already the convertible has been announced. The coupe made its debut last year at the Geneva Motor Show, and the claims were grand: 20-HP in the 2-cylinder turbodiesel LS version, 0-60 in 9 seconds, a top speed of 122-MPH, a weight of 990 pounds, a Cd of .20, and 150-computer-simulated-MPG. Of course the Loremo -- coupe or convertible -- isn't for everyone. The point of the car is to offer style (take that any way you wish), a modicum of luxury, and fuel-sipping economy at a prices between $13,000 and $18,000. The convertible would probably have a slightly higher Cd and therefore slightly worse gas mileage, but if you just get 100-MPG, that'd be all right, no? The convertible version would also probably be easier to get into than sliding over the fenders of the tilt-forward-canopy coupe...
