The nose in particular brings the Eclipse in line with the design theme spreading across the rest of Mitsubishi's model line. If you happen to have a slight sense of deja vu while looking at it, more than one of us has also noticed that the new schnoz bears more than a passing resemblance to the Nissan GT-R, as well. And lest you think the changes are all skin deep, there are several non-cosmetic updates to augment the rhinoplasty. The GT models sport a newly tuned dual exhaust that promises to not only sound better, but boost horsepower by a deuce as well, bringing the total from 263 to 265. On the inside, power comes via a new 650-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system as part...

Filed under: Chicago Auto Show , Convertibles , Sports/GTs , Volkswagen Click image above for gallery of high-res live shots from Chicago It wasn't until we saw the YES! 3.2 Roadster today at the Chicago Auto Show that we remembered seeing it some time ago. Something about the orange 3.2 Turbo model rang a bell and we recalled that soggy day last June when we saw it in the pits at Goodwood . The YES! reps confirmed that we had indeed seen a Roadster at the Festival of Speed, shortly after it had been introduced as the replacement for the previous 1.8 model. The vehicles YES! is showing here in Chicago are the second generation Roadsters, in turbo and NA form. Now, lest you think these guys are bad at math, that 3.2 actually refers to the 3.2L V6 residing in the boot. Funke & Will AG, the folks behind YES!, have done a lot of development work on the car and now even offer it with an optional hard top for cold climates. But it's not really about the hardtop. Fitted with the base...

Filed under: Chicago Auto Show , Convertibles , Coupes , Mitsubishi click either image for more shots of the updated 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse Mitsubishi has seen fit to bestow upon us a whole slew of new high-res images showing the updated 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and Eclipse Spyder doing their groove thing on the road. As we mentioned last week when we previewed the vehicle , the styling changes are evolutionary and include a new front end housing a blacked-out trapezoidal grille that mimics the maw of the Lancer Evolution, as well as a blacked out rear apron where a new dual exhaust system peeks out that provides the car's V6 with another 2 horsepower and 2 ft-lbs. of torque for a grand total of 265 and 262, respectively. We actually dig the new grille and think it works well with the already established body style of the Eclipse, and more power is more power (i.e. a good thing). But it's tough to overlook the fundamental flaws of the Eclipse, which include being a heavy front...

Filed under: Chicago Auto Show , Convertibles click above for more high-res shots of the YES! 3.2 Roadster There's plenty of forbidden fruit that our friends abroad get to enjoy, but of all the vehicles we thought had a shot here in the States, the YES! 3.2 Roadster wasn't one of them. That's all going to change this February when Funke & Will AG will display the lightweight cabrio on the show floor in Chicago. The YES! 3.2 Roadster comes in two flavors, both sporting a (you guessed it) 3.2-liter V6. The first is a naturally aspirated variant that produces 255 hp and can reach 60 in just under five seconds, while the other benefits from a turbocharger that huffs and puffs the same six to 355 hp and drops the sprint to 60 to 3.8 seconds. Owners can supposedly upgrade that same mill to produce 415 hp and propel the one-ton convertible up to a theoretical top speed of 200 mph. Both cars can be outfitted with a variety of amenities, from heated seats to sat nav, and if all goes...

Filed under: Chicago Auto Show , Detroit Auto Show , Spy Photos , Convertibles , Coupes , Chevrolet , GM We've seen the Camaro coupe and convertible concepts over the past two years at venues like the Detroit and Chicago auto shows. A stunning yellow Camaro also had the starring role on the biggest Hollywood blockbuster of 2007. We're even getting " spy shots " of the production Camaro taken by General Motors engineers that are posted on the GM Fast Lane blog. What we won't see any time soon is a production Camaro being unveiled during 2008. Kicking Tires quotes Chevy execs as saying that the company wants to avoid overexposure when production is still a year away. The General also wants to get the concept car to less prominent show sites like Houston and Cleveland, and there aren't many hand-made models to spread out across the country. Since this is the third year in a row that at least one Camaro concept has been shown at the Detroit show, the crowd gathering...
